it says "not staking because you have no mature coins" but the oldest coins in my wallet are 7 months old. What's wrong with that?

Nothing is wrong Wink Old stake setting was 365 days - with the new wallet (fork) it will be set to 30 days. Beginning on 12th Nov. onwards.

You forgot the best part of the update:  Coin Control!

*sob*  I'm so happy!    Grin

If this new plan does not work I would probably start supporting Guldencoin if I was German just because it has a lot going for it already and merge between communities could make sense. Dutch and German innovation behind one coin, but goodluck to the new team, hope it goes well and country coins make a big comeback.

To weird to live To rare to die
HI there,
this is not strange, a core team reached out, found some old guys and even the dev and updated the coin !

I was here asking you to come into our skype , check the thread Grin

Theres new specifications coming,

Max 210 Million Proof of Work Coins (instead of 20 billion DeM),
minimum stake: 30 days ( instead of 1 year, 3,8% divided 12 Months)

We need to make sure theres one strong cryptocurrency in germany and there are a lot of people supporting that.
you say info-flow sucks- thats not true... if I wouldn't post here maybe no one would these days- in the german thread guys already talked about it.

The new wallet has all updates, some new features, and we lurk in the forum. Mostly in german, so-
show some love here and accept me Grin

You want official faces, 80 million people adopting DEM & stickers and youtube channels ? I work on it Grin

I knew the Germans would  ( some of the most innovative people in the world)

How  are staked coins going to be rewarded ?
Will it be 3.8% APR / 12 months = 0.316666 % per month ?
Also, is this deterministic ? In other words, if coins are staked (and not available for spending) WILL they earn interest or is it only a possibility that staked coins will earn this interest ?

no reduction in reward?

13.1 million each year mined will be no fun to hold longterm - at least not soon.

Happy to see DEM coming back. I never lost the faith. Not a murican coin after all Wink

Get that inflation down more later! It's the right direction to walk. Inflation as low as possible will make people hoard it.

5 days before the fork, a very informal survey of peers (as connected to my eMarkd daemon) shows only 2/8 = 25% have upgraded to version 1.1

Note: this system has soft-linked demd to eMarkd with ln -s /usr/local/bin/eMarkd /usr/local/bin/demd

Only two peers are running subversion eMark:1.1.0, the other six are running eMark:1.0.0;  What will happen on the changeover (Nov 12 at 12:00:00 GMT) if a majority of the peers/nodes have not updated ?

can you also say how long it would take now to mine all eMarks?

...of course you keep your coins.
..the old chain stays, we just fork at the 12th at  00:00:00 gmt exactly.

I thought I am kinda well prepared but - your questions make me unsure-  you are welcome Grin

Other questions ... will pre-compiled binaries for Linux be posted ? (I only saw a Windows and Mac wallet, and the Mac wallet link was a dead end. Wallet Link)
And can I start running the new wallet / protocol immediately, or until 12:00:00 GMT on Nov 12th ?

Thanks !

I'm not sure if they'll be posting Linux binaries or not (not much point, unlike Windows compiling on Linux is a very simple task.) You can use the new wallet now, yes.

Thanks for your answer, let's get set-up, only a week before the change.

Regarding Linux binaries: well, the point is to avoid compiling. It's not so simple when you have to set up from scratch, so  the Devs (for whom it is simple)  would be nice to post Linux binaries too, IMO.

Some people use Linux like any other desktop OS, not specifically for development ....

Ok, so just to clarify:

It will still be a SHA256 coin, with 2 minute block target, and 50 coin per block reward.

I understand that the emission will be reduced from 20,000,000,000 (20 GigaCoins) to 210,000,000 (210 MegaCoins) ... ¡ I like that !
and staked coins will produce interest every month, not once a year ... ¡ I like that !

Question, just to be clear: ¿ Will all existing coins be honored in the new fork ?  ie, ¿ Will the new fork  keep the existing blockchain ?  and  more questions:
¿ When exactly will the change happen ?  ¿Will it be at exactly 12:00:00 GMT on November 12, 2014, or is it after a certain block number ?

If you need to get a hold of Berkeley DB 4.8.30.NC (from the Oracle, Inc. web site)

Yes, the coin's PoW algorithm, block times, and reward remain the same. When it forks all existing coins will be included and the blockchain will stay the same (no coin swaps or anything.) The hardfork will be at 12 Nov 2014 00:00:00 GMT by time, not by block number.

Quick calculation shows that since 13.8 million coins (to be exact:  13847397.01148000)  have been emitted, under the new hard fork, that is 6.57% of the total emission, while, under the previous scheme, those 13.8 million coins represented only 0.07% of the future total emission.
