Leo is resting.
Of course no.

Adult people can decide what to do with their money. It is not the government's business. People should have the right to lose money. If online gambling is going to get banned, they should ban real life gambling too. There is barely a differenc

I agree with you on this. In a democratic system of government, as there is freedom of speech and movement so also there is freedom of decision. It is not the right of the government to decide how an individual should spend his or her money so long as the person keeps abiding by the rules and regulations of the state or country. Online gambling ought not to be seen as a bad thing for the government because everyone who is an online gambler uses his fund to gamble not that of the government and it does not generate noise or instability for the government because those involved in online gambling can gamble at the comfort of their homes. I suggest they ban physical or real-life gambling because it has made a lot of people die due to fight and pressure from the gambling environment.

It's like asking if smoking should be banned? or if any other harmful habits must be banned effectively as well by the government? People would jump up and talk about ' freedom ' at it's finest at the same time one would also understand the fact that it's impossible to ban something, banning Bitcoins won't work, banning gambling won't work as well, can you stop a person from going to other state or country where gambling might be legal ?

It cannot be banned but the government can provide help for gambling addiction and also set up rules and regulations to ensure a safe environment..

Banning some activity won't stop the people from doing it. Drugs are illegal for decades, but this isn't stopping the drug addicts to get high.
It has been stated multiple times that regulating the gambling industry is way better than banning it. At least the government gets tax revenue and the casinos are somewhat forced to implement responsible gambling practices. Banning the entire industry would simply throw it in the hands of the mobsters/organized crime.
The gambling industry can't be blamed for gambling addicts the same way alcohol industry can't be blamed for the alcoholics and the porn industry can't be blamed for porn addicts. We are mature people and we have to take responsibility for your own actions, instead of putting the blame on someone else.

Excellent comment! I don't think I can add something... banning something won't stop people from doing it! It can be gambling or any other vice, simply it's impossible to ban them!

And the nice conclusion, we have to take responsibility for our own actions... If we play with fire, we’re gonna get burned from time to time, little or a lot! We can't blame the fire or game just because someone wanted too much without thinking about the consequences!

I read an interesting debate about this topic during the time when I experienced heavy loss in online gambling. I’m trying to seek some reason online to justify my loss and give me acceptance for my loss that time. It didn’t help me but make me confused.  Grin

You are confused because you are not comfortable with your losses, we blame things situations, and events whenever we encounter losses and misfortune, we can actually avoid this if we have the right mindset and we are comfortable with our losses.
play within your means and enjoy the game and accept the outcome and you will not wish that gambling should be ban.

Because I'm an active gambler I would say "No" I will not support it, even if I get paid for it because it is an option for fun and I think it comes down to the individual. I am personally quite concerned about the loss that has befallen of you, hopefully lost money today you will be get back, at another bet with win.

I disagree on banning gambling and it cannot be done. First of all, all the cons you've included on your post are most likely to be caused by gamblers itself. Being irresponsible gambler will cause the cons you've listed especially the addiction. The platform isn't the problem rather it's the people who use the platform.

I don't request loans~
I'm against it. It's a legal business imo with a pretty clear statement of how they earn money and how they offer their services to their users/customers. The main issue here imo is about addiction but really, it's an issue that affects both the user and the business, mostly on the user side imo.

It's already being controlled and regulated imo, but it isn't up to date. Especially with how easy it is to look up guides on how to bypass stuff, casinos should improve that system of theirs. They don't particularly do it since it doesn't really affect their profits and would only incur them costs imo.

Reputation first.
Gambling shouldn't be banned. It is something to manage with the maximum attention because there are many bad effect that you can have if you don't pay attention. Anyway, there are also many other thing that if not

managed in good way can have bad effect, like alcohol, or sugar, so, why condamn only gambling?

An interesting topic, but I do not see the most important clarification - to ban on behalf of whom for whom? If the arguments Cons seem more weighty to you, then you can ban gambling for yourself, if the arguments Pro seem more weighty to you, then you can not do this. But if you, on the basis of any arguments, want to make a decision regarding third parties, then in my opinion this is a big stupidity.

no
but it should be limited especially to online gambling sites, regulations for online gambling sites need to be limited, maybe one example is the self-exclusion feature. in a very religious country, gambling is against the faith and this has become a reference in the prohibition of gambling in the country, both online and on land.

rationally without clashing or involving with religion, gambling has become part of the fun entertainment in this era and people who are involved in gambling know very well every risk of gambling and the bad effects of gambling addiction. this is his own responsibility.
so however the pros and cons will always be there in any case.
IMO, actually the problem is when someone is looking for an alternative to making quick money in gambling or trying to get rich. This is what causes addiction to gambling.

Of what good will banning gambling do, has banning things ever stopped people completely from doing or using something? I don't think so. Gambling should not be banned, the option of choosing should not be taken away from us. As much as possible both offline and online casinos and gambling houses/sites contribute to the social welfare of many citizens, it is a way people get involved with the sports they love, to abruptly stop or ban it will create a breach and gap in the social life of your citizens which is essential. You will turn out to have more citizens that are depressed because of lack of social life. A replacement will come surely, but it can never be Gambling!

Gambling should not be banned, if the government is to interfere, it should be to ensure safe gambling practice and an environment for it.

Well on my own, it should not be banned.
Why? Because gambling, in general, was really meant for entertainment --nothing else.
Only people misinterpret this and we cannot blame them if they will treat gambling as a source of income [that is they preferred] and besides, that is why gambling is for adults that can decide on their own, they have surely and self-discipline and full control of their selves. Gambling should not be banned as long as there is no minor age that involve and I think that is the reason now government combating it they implement protocols on any gambling industry that is based under their jurisdiction just to amend KYC procedures to avoid such scenarios.

It is important to note that none of your PRO and CON points are specific to online gambling, but rather to gambling in general. Therefore, if we were to apply these arguments, then we should ban all forms of gambling.

Some countries actually have laws against gambling. I'm not sure how much good it did them, because people find a way to get around them. Many people gamble illegally on the black market, and others will simply do so online. Therefore, there is a lot of risk for any government in banning something that people will find a way to circumvent.

Ah yes, the topic is for general discussion of gambling and not specifically for online gambling as you can see on the source, I just change the title to online gambling since most of us here is just playing online gambling instead of IRL, The topic is more focus on gambling so sorry if the online gambling part make a confusion. I just make the title suitable for all then users here.

Anyway, I will edit now the title since it seems really confusing when I read it again right now.  Cheesy

I consider gambling as a form of entertainment. When I'm watching sports, and I have a little wager on it. It brings in additional excitement and emotions that wouldn't have otherwise. Addiction is a massive issue that needs to be dealt with but, I do not have a concrete method of how to curb it. The worst con of online gambling is underage kids are able to access most gambling platforms without any issues. Which is a cause for concern as that could mentally hinder a persons development and create addition.

In short, I wouldnt want online gambling to be banned but there needs to be more restrictions put in place so that addiction and underage gamblers can be taken care of.

No God or Kings, only BITCOIN.
It's the future of gambling, it will not be banned. Many huge institutions and companies tend to not ignore this trend and believe it or not that's where we are heading. The time when we just go to land based casinos will come to a decline, not that fast but for sure that will be the case.

There is no excuse that we can make to exonerate ourselves on the reason we lost a gambling bet or we push it to the company or casinos. It is our fault that we lost but not our fault that we played because we intend to double the money we have, doubling money is the main purpose for playing therefore a loss should be taken in good faith and we try to know what mistakes made on our part because the games are always there for we to try our luck.

Conclusion: I got confused because the first time I read this was I’m feeling down that time while my perspective is against gambling but when I read it again when my mind is clear, I realized that the pro side has a valid point too. At that point I noticed that our opinion will varies based on our actual condition because it’s easy to say that it’s just a game if you are not playing and just sitting in the side line but if you are the one who’s experiencing the actual heavy loss, Maybe you will be in favor to the cons side.

But that heavy loss that you are asking, who did that? It's your decision to gamble more. I have loss a lot of money in gambling too but it never came to me to blame the industry. It was all on me, it's my fault. We can always play at a moderate way but yet we want the big risk and big winnings.
I'm with the pros here as gambling is actually made for that added spice in the different games we play.
Imagine if we are playing dice without money involved, will it still be fun? There must be something added on the line to feel that joy that even if we do it over and over again it won't be boring.

My Answer to your question is No
Gambling has provided a source of income for many people all over the world. In addition, many people gamble for fun, and it rewards them for their efforts.
Gambling has an addiction, and once you are addicted, it will be very difficult to stop. The funny part is that when you are lucky, you can get what you never expect in gambling.
Because gambling has been a lifeline for some of us here through signature campaigns, and many would not have signature campaign if gambling were prohibited, I am vehemently opposed to gambling prohibition.

Lightning network is good with small amount of BTC
The best thing to do with gambling is to make it legal, well regulated and controlled.
This will be the best, but many countries do not well regulate gambling, you can see gambling ads all around and available for even children to be exposed to it, nothing like digital id to connect a single users to all existing gambling platforms in the world in a way to be able to make self exclusion effective and many others. But you are not wrong, gambling should not be banned but regulated.

People who have problems with gambling, which is often used as an argument to prohibit it, if gambling did not exist would have problems with something else, such as drugs or alcohol.
I do not agree with this, because you are not addicted to gambling does not mean you will be addicted to something else like drugs or alcohol. Some people are addicted to drugs or alcohol but not addicted to gambling. Some people are not addicted to anything at all.

Let's look at Macao for example, a country that relies solely on gambling as a means to an end. Of course, their government are going to favor gambling, whether online or offline.
Even not only Macao, most countries in the world favour gambling because their government is making huge profit as tax from gambling platforms in their country, this is the reason even for poor regulations to restrict gambling ads on inappropriate places to display ads.
