Bump. Let's get some more ideas. I'm warming up to the possibility. It's been awhile, at the same time I'm looking for a small group of people that can form part of the core team. However, just like the founder of the first coin, ayoko mag handle ng day to day developments of the coin, I just want to get it started and see if it can grow on its own, with no restrictions. Organic ba.

I saw a thread earlier asking about Philippine based or targeted coins, and there have been a few attempts at a country coin. Is this really something that we are interested in?

The purposes for others was for remittances, for general investing, for bills payments and banking, for OFWs, for rewards, for points.

Would we like something similar to Bitcoin ATMs where you can buy and sell on a machine?

Do we want a free airdrop? Or an ICO? Or a mixture of both? (Bounties of course will be available.)

Discuss.

Thats pretty awesome if we can get our own digital currency. In that way mas maiintegrate natin ang local transactions online.

I have other ideas, I have not yet posted about here, but would still like to get feedback.
It is interesting to know what's playing on your mind with those ideas.

Loyal Coin. I think it is focused on loyalty rewards. I can't find where to get my private key on their App.  Sad

Back at the topic, how about starting the coin just like how bitcoin started but with some tweaks that'll come from the community. With no funding, no advertising, just the support from the community by securing the network. And adding up a Marketplace section where the coin is the primary currency  to be use.

Regarding block rewards if PoW is used, just a thought. Is it possible to start at 1 coin reward per block and doubling it every set of blocks. And will go back to block halving when a certain block reward amount reached?

eg.
1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 512, 256,128, 64, 32, 16, 8, 4, 2, 1 = 3070 coins max supply

Almost all of us wished if we started mining bitcoin from the beginning. That is why when a new mine-able coin appears that has a good potential, some miners jump in taking profit as soon as it gets a good value and stop mining. So what am I thinking is to have people who are willing enough to take some loss in the beginning.

But if not PoW, just nevermind what I had said above.  Cheesy

Count us in when you decide to get that coin rolling @Dabs  Smiley

I would love to see mining coin or an independent platform  like ETH, Waves, etc.   Then the developers eh mga Pinoy lahat.  This is to showcase the capability of Filipino na magcompete in terms of cryptocurrency technology.

How about the other coins mentioned here previously, like that Loyal Coin ? I have not yet had the time to look at them or read up on them, but they also did not attract my attention, granted that I do not pay much attention anyway to plenty of other alts and even current events.
I know there are a lot of representatives of the Loyal Coin and they are under the NEM blockchain IIRC. This is their site btw, https://loyalcoin.io/

Do they fulfill what we need or want out of a coin?
I see that they are trying to implement the blockchain system and payments to haveactual application with your coins. I guess with all their merchants listed here. It's still not so commercialized IMO

Eventually, one of the goals is to get it listed on our own PH based exchanges, namely rebit.ph and coins.ph and a couple others (the ones that have been granted licenses by Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas or BSP.)
Supporting our economy will never be wrong as we are Filipinos.

If we could just attract competent developers, this can become a reality. But as with any other coin, it will not help everybody, and it will still be an experiment that has risks. All I can do is help it start and grow a little at a time. Growth does not necessarily mean price or marketcap.

I have other ideas, I have not yet posted about here, but would still like to get feedback.
I think there are great developers, there should just be funds surrounding it.

I can't wait for your future ideas and how we could do something with it and probably have more Filipinos learning about bitcoin or the practical applications with it. Making things easier with payments, etc.

Obviously, if we were to start one, it would be decentralized to the extent that even the government can not just arbitrarily demand or create supply out of thin air and devalue the coin. It would be created in the spirit of the original, which most altcoins have a predetermined supply schedule or coin emission, usually deflationary, or very low inflation.

Eventually, one of the goals is to get it listed on our own PH based exchanges, namely rebit.ph and coins.ph and a couple others (the ones that have been granted licenses by Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas or BSP.)

The value of such coin would be determined entirely by the market. Price discovery. We can not opt to make it into some sort of stable coin, unless we do something similar to what Maker does for DAI, and we certainly don't want another entity to back a coin with fiat. They'd have to be willing to take the risk of the price tanking even if they peg the value to 1 peso or whatever.

It's been almost two years ... more than a year anyway ... yet this idea still lingers in my head.

nah mas gugustuhin ko bitcoin lang gagamitin kung country based coin im sure heavily centralized yan mas maganda pa gumamit nalang ng decentralized one baka yung gobyerno sisira in nila ang coin by making stupid things like adding supply without consent kaya ayoko mag karoon ng country based coin.
I agree with this, reading this opinion, naisip ko na tama. But for the centralization, I’m not sure, maybe it isn’t controlled by the government or what not but it would be hard for us. The use of Bitcoin all over the world is already a lot compared if there is a new coin. We will never know.

Yes we want this! If this coin will help suffering Filipinos from poverty, from slow and inconvenient transactions in both government and private sectors, then let us have this! I believe many Filipinos will support this coin because this is what we have been waiting for, for many many years.

Philippines will surely rise!

View the link above. I noticed the thread in the 2nd page of our local and I remember reading an article about the Cryptocurrency adaptation here in the Philippines supported by Philippine Government. This article might bec interesting for us.
I've seen that news for a while now and I think that would be great for our country, supporting it and being here is already an excellent opportunity for Filipinos to know more about cryptocurrencies. Having data centers, mining firms, etc. would be good, but I don't know about their electricity bill. I think it's going to be expensive, knowing it here in the Philippines.

of course we want our own coin, but the thing is, do our country men supports our coins ? hopefully yes, and surely this will give philippines their own chance to rise and be known when it comes in crypto.
Dapat po full support tayo lalo na kung magandang project naman yong certain coin na yon, we just need to make sure of the platform at kung ano ano pang bagay.

Hello sir. I think it is not wrong if we can have our own coin like bitcoins but I think we have to consider its availability to all filipinos. We have to consider that all people can have an access on it because it would be biased if only few can have an access on it especially we really need technology in accessing on it.
