500 hundred years ago.. People were burning people for being sick, crazy or even claim to be "prophets" or "witches".

Our kind is stupid. We can't talk about things we don't understand, because we always bring negativity and denial into conversations.

I agree.

Thinking that our world is the only inhabited planet there is in the whole wide universe is like thinking that our world is at the center of the universe.

I'm quite certain that somewhere in the 10^9000000 planets out there there must be intelligent life, but I doubt they would be close enough to, or have enough interest in, Earth, to want to come here.

Yes I do, a person would have to be really naive to believe that we are the only habituated planet in the universe.  I'm pretty sure they have already been here as well.  Some of the stuff on Earth can't really be explained. I'm sure they are a huge part of our history and we just don't realize it.

They still are.

Wouldn't surprise me.  I remember years ago on a camping trip seeing some pretty weird stuff happen up in the sky.  My buddies and I still talk about it to this day and can't figure it out. It happened about 20 years ago.

since life seems to be a byproduct of the physical process of entropy it is reasonable to assume it occurs wherever matter and energy exist in close proximity

There are probably have been, are, and will be countless civilizations that are around our own level of development but contact will not occur between any unless by chance two exist in close proximity at the same time, which is highly unlikely. It is also unlikely a civilization of this level would ever develop beyond traveling to a moon or other nearby object.

It is also a possibility that there are intelligences that are as high in complexity in regard to us as our activities are beyond the comprehension of the microbes that exist with us. If we witness any of their doings we wouldn't be able to understand them in terms of other than what we are familiar with, which could be entirely useless in advancing our comprehension of what we were seeing.

What we perceive as an advanced technology could be something else entirely. That would be a situation that would be rather difficult for any government that had such data to explain to the population.

Just because something is far, far away does not mean that it does not exist.

Yes. I mean I have never seen one, but anything is possible with all the odd reports.

How do you know that you never seen one? Maybe you live next to one alien... Smiley
