Financial management will always be an important aspect in anything, especially when we talk about gambling, which is an activity that involves money and risk, meaning that one of the reasons why financial management such as setting limits on the amount of money to be bet is very important is because gambling has a risky side that can really make you lose all your money in a short period of time.

Maybe we have heard people very often who suggest only betting the amount that we can afford to lose and the reason is clear that by doing so we will not be too disappointed when we end up losing and of course it will not cause too many problems for your finances, so the benefits of only betting the amount that you can afford to lose are first so that your finances remain stable and second so that your mental and psychological health remains maintained, and for me personally, the amount usually does not exceed 5% of the total money I have when I occasionally want to bet.

When I feel like that I have a huge wish to gamble, I can easily gamble the amount I would have spend on a meal. Dont know how to explain how I came to this, but I can replace 1 meal during day with  few cups of coffee, and instead of spending money on food, grab something to eat from home. This opens me a window of 5-10 bucks per day as a "free" money for gambling. So I am able to spend <10 bucks on gambling without any harm (but not daily), and psychologically, I cant bet more than 100 bucks in one bet, and loosing few hundreds per night is probably my maximum.

Coffee is essentially a legal drug. Coffee affects different people differently, but most people report that after drinking coffee they feel a surge of strength and energy. It is this property of coffee that allows you to refuse regular meals.

However, food is very important, it allows you to replenish the loss of nutrients (proteins, fats and carbohydrates), minerals and vitamins that a person needs. Refusing this can worsen your health over time.

In addition, drinking coffee causes a feeling of euphoria, and this can, in my opinion, negatively affect the assessment of chances in gambling.

In my opinion, limiting the bankroll before each game is a necessary part of the gaming process. If you lose more than you can afford, then this will cause you strong negative feelings (possibly even a desire to win back).

The amount is not always the same, sometimes it can be bigger but it can also be smaller depending on what type of gambling I will play, if casino games such as slot games will certainly be bigger because small capital playing on slots will only make us finish quickly but if sports betting the amount is smaller because only betting on matches that have been planned in advance, but I never use more than 10% of the income, most often below that by often playing with minimum bets and sports bets are only a few percent of the amount deposited, so I can bet again if the previous bet went badly.
Surely you can copy the strategy of professionals in sports betting, for example. I think that they use no more than 1% of the entire bankroll per bet, because this allows them to reduce the influence of randomness over a huge number of bets. However, I have heard that a professional in sports betting can be identified after several thousand, if not tens of thousands of completed bets, and only after that can you at least assume that he is a winner. Also, for each sport, this amount is different. It seems to me that I will never reach such values in bets, even if I make very small bets and the same size.

Setting the bankroll is an important thing for bettors to do, because by setting the bankroll from the start it will allow bettors to estimate how much money they need to bet and that can help a lot and avoid financial chaos. If a bettor just bets their money and doesn't want to manage their bankroll it will make them unable to set their priorities and they could end up using the money they should be using either to buy food or other things that should be their priority.
And I admit that setting a bankroll is quite important and very helpful for those who want to balance other needs and betting.
Exactly, if you want to be on track with your finances while gambling, have a bankroll. Depending on your bet size and the number of beys you want to play in a week or month, you can have 1% from your income. So it all depends on you, if you want to budget a certain amount weekly or monthly, and you split it among different bet sizes and the number of time you play, that's fine.

And it's advisable that you have a bankroll, and when you exhaust your bankroll, do not borrow, beg, or take from your emergency funds or necessity funds to play. You can play freerolls after you exhaust your budget. Because when you start building that going the extra mile of borrowing to play after you exhaust your budget because you  captivated by the stake, you will be transitioning into gambling addicted.

And the aim of gambling, and having a forum where we can talk about gambling, is not to get addicted, but to gamble responsibly and profit anyway. Gambling bankroll will help guide you, help you make informed choices when betting, keep you on track with your finances, and give you ideas to maximize your available funds for win, especially with betting on low odds.

"Bankroll" is usually a term used in sports betting. From what I've read in some of the threads here, we need to be disciplined in managing our bankroll, typically betting only 5% to 10% per wager. So I'm curious: do bettors here really set up a bankroll first before they start gambling, or do they just gamble whenever they have available money?

Please share your experience whether positive or negative and what you learn from it.

I usually only gamble when I go to a casino in real life, and in those occasions I would just set a number beforehand and just bet up to that amount.

Once that amount is gone, all the bets are off.

Basically I see that money as an entry fee for the casino to have a look and have some fun.

If I manage to win, I usually just take the money out and go grab a couple of drinks or some food on the house.

Anything like OP mentions I actually do with investments and savings, but not gambling as it doesn't have a great return IMO.

When I played poker, yes. If you want to play seriously and have any chance of making money in the long run, bankroll management is a must. When I deposit to play casino games, it's not. It's money that I take for lost, and if I get lucky and I hit a big win, I cash out.

Bankroll is very important in gambling. In fact, it is the most important part of risk management. We cannot control our winnings, but we can control our losses. We can reduce their size. In gambling, you place a bet and the fate of that bet is not in your hands, but in the hands of chance. Yes, if you bet on sports, then you have access to analysis and statistics. You can study the performance of the teams you bet on. And this can increase your chances of correctly determining the outcome of the match. But fundamental uncertainty still remains and will remain no matter how good your analysis is.

Completely agree with you. This aspect often goes unnoticed because we’re so focused on winning, and sometimes we become unrealistic, thinking that winning in gambling is easy. But in reality, the majority of us lose, while only a few make money. Those who do are the disciplined ones, focusing on long-term success rather than short-term gains, and they excel at managing their bankroll.

This is important because we must be able to set a set amount, the goal is to limit the gambling that is done. Because in my opinion there are not a few cases that occur where players usually gamble by taking the wrong steps as if they have experienced defeat but they still allocate their money again in gambling and of course this is behavior that is actually not recommended even though we have a lot of money. Looking at the rights, it is indeed the right of each but we need to be aware that being excessive in things like this is not good.
When I first got to know gambling, I experienced something like this where before I gambled I thought that just by allocating the funds that I had determined, I would win, but in reality the defeat made me want to withdraw the money that had been lost by re-allocating the money to gambling and this invited bankruptcy to happen. At this time I am not so interested in gambling anymore, so with the money I allocated if the end result is a loss, then there is no extension of the gambling session that I do, this is actually simple but it depends on ourselves.

The votes stand for YES but i knew many of my friends not setting bankroll before playing instead they are deciding while on the game already and also most people that I knew who loves sportbetting are  usually betting in their favorites so they care nothing about the bankroll as long as they are enjoying the games they are betting.
I always use some form of bankroll management because, in sports betting, it's easy to lose your gambling budget in minutes and not having one could cause you to be greedy and lose more bets. If you lose your deposit faster than expected, you'll sometimes be encouraged to spend more only to refill your balance. Also, as the others mentioned, you'd even get the urge to chase after your losses, and it can get pretty bad real fast if you struggle to control yourself.
Because you are a responsible gambler mate , and you knew what will you face if ever mishandled the gambling and this is what we have seen over the years here in
gambling section when one losses because of greediness.
Maybe you can ring an alarm on my ear again to set a bankroll before gambling lol.
I know gambling should be based on risk management but setting a bankroll everytime can be more of taking a birth everything time you want to play on the field. Since not everybody that likes to keep funds on their gambling platform, their will be no need for a person that don't always have available bankroll. Bankroll is not a priority for now and taking maximum risk management is very important as a gambler to maintain inflow of fund while making profits.

Everything should really be that making up that kind of limitation on which this one should really be that in main consideration because on the moment that you do find yourself having no control towards your
gambling activity then you would really be finding yourself into such condition on which you might be losing up that big time because of too much spending. It will really be always recommended that you should set a bankroll or budget into your gambling activity and once it do lost it all or depletes then never ever tend to chase up your loses because this is where usually gamblers do really commit out mistakes on the time or moment that they will really be keeping on depositing because on having the hopes that they could be able to get their loses back on which this is something not a guaranteed thing to happen.

We must admit that while money is not the most important we can pursue in our life, it is still incredibly important, so whenever we use it we need to keep track of it, as this is a way make sure that we use it in the most effective way possible, and those that do not keep track of the amount of money they use while gambling, by not setting a specific bankroll before they do are taking a massive risk, since they do not really know how much money they are spending and this could have a cascade effect in other ambits of their life.

IMO, it seems like every bettor has become accustomed to budgeting a fixed bankroll to make deposits. I take the example of myself, and people in my social environment. If I try to examine it, most of us have the habit of making deposits with bankroll according to our standards. Theoretically, we will set aside a certain percentage of money to bet from our income. So, it is very likely that the average gambler always makes a deposit of the same amount. although, at some moments a person can increase his money for gambling.

For me personally, this is not just a matter of bankroll management, but perhaps it has become something of a habit. Well, problems often come when we experience consecutive defeats. not infrequently, someone makes a deposit again by doubling their bankroll. If you are lucky, you can recover the money you have lost and even get a big win. If, on the other hand, you lose again for the umpteenth time, it is not uncommon for someone to lose their clear mind and quite a few end up trying to get a loan. basically the big point is not bankroll settings. but it is more about our readiness when we are going to bet, the worst case scenario is losing. and if that happens, can we afford to stop and rest especially so as not to make a re-deposit. Once the situation is under control, we can return to our favorite casino.

500 dollars is much more for me to play and nothing more or less, because I am only looking for fun in the game with the money I have decided to gamble with, at least the main focus of gambling is to relieve fatigue, not just wanting to spend money, but also looking for bullying. with only 500 dollars of playing capital because I realize that the integrity of life is more meaningful than pouring my money into gambling.

I don't care about people's chatter about my capital which according to rich people is capital with little money to play gambling, but here I emphasize that gambling is not my hobby but rather an activity to sharpen my brain in games, so with capital of 500 dollars I can double my money as much as possible. This means that whatever winnings I will achieve is far more than enough.

Well to say the truth, I actually don't have a specific bankroll when I do my gamble what I do is that I just actually go with it and the moment I discover that it's actually not favouring me, I quit it for that moment and focus same energy elsewhere because if I continue I will be heading to my early grave because it's just going to be a case of chasing that money I lost with all my time .
Indeed, every gambler is different in determining their budget for gambling. I think determining your gambling budget is of course much better. At least this is an alarm for you. If your previous capital runs out, it's best not to play again or take a break for a while, continue playing the following week when your condition If you are happy or calm (relaxed), in conditions like this of course you play freely without any burden and at least focus on each round.
Budgets may vary due to needs as well as salary, but don't forget that the goal of a specific amount of money is only guiding us on how to gamble really reasonably compared to what we have. Reasonable here means being specific allows us to narrow the scope of possible loss, besides it is also careful consideration for decisions, many opportunities will make us loose but fewer opportunities and limited money expose us to more responsible and calculated choices, active gamblers always set such limits so that the game goes more smoothly

So far, I have never gambled more than the amount I expected to use to gamble because if I don't then it leads to irresponsible gambling and for that it also leads to waste of resources because you wouldn't control yourself over the amount to be used to stake bet. If a particular amount is being map and carved out for gambling it would enable to mind the way you uses money to gamble especially when the fund is exhausted you can control yourself than just gambling with any funds that gets into our hands for that day or money that is not in used by us.
