Never going to happen. Governments are run by controlling things. If you want to replace dollar with bitcoin, you need to hand over the control of BTC to government. How a country's economy can be based be on such volatile thing.

If you see it from other angle, BTC can replace if every online business starts accepting BTC for transactions. They will still need to convert it to dollar.
You have a point. Before thinking on replacing dollar by bitcoin, bitcoin should be legalized first. And yes it means that the government will have the power to manipulate bitcoins transactions and production. And we do not want this to happen because when government have the power to manipulate bitcoin, corruption may exist

Could you explain what makes you think so?

Bitcoin is already almost fully legalized in a few countries (see Switzerland or Japan) up to a point where you can pay for public services with bitcoins directly. And did that give these countries any advantage in regulating or manipulating Bitcoin transactions or "production" apart from what any other country out there already has in this respect (let's call that "administrative resource")? How exactly does Bitcoin legalization give power or control over Bitcoin to countries going that way?

Dollar has been as global reserve currency since 70 years.Bitcoin has just completed its initial eight years. Most countries store dollars as reserve currency since it is accepted universally. But most countries are not even friendly to bitcoin use.Dollar use came into significance since OPEC countries decided to sell their crude oil only in dollar. But now some countries like Russia, china have decided to buy crude oil not in dollars and Iran, one of the biggest crude oil manufacturer has decided to sell not in dollars, dollar is slowly losing its significance.Even then,it would take more time for bitcoin to replace dollar.

I don't think Bitcoin can replace dollars just because there are people who are not tech savvy or just really old school, wants physical evidence that you have the actual amount of money and the agreed upon amount of USD is already that. I hope that bitcoin would be applied everywhere soon I just hope that it would come.
Indeed, dollar can't replace by bitcoin. As of now bitcoin community is continue growing however it is not enough to replace the dollar because there are some peolple or country are not accepting bitcoin as mode of payment. Yet, government will not allow this happen because they cannot control it.

Bitcoin can't even fix its scaling issues currently, replacing the dollar is a distant dream at best. It needs many things including instant transactions, extremely low fees, and the ability to be used without a connection. Many people are even starting to see bitcoin more as a gold of sorts, a store of value but not useful for daily transactions.

Bitcoin is not legal tender. It is impossible to be used as a national currency, as governments and its central bank or authority have a job to control money supply and such in a country. If this cannot be done, the currency cannot be widely accepted.

All i can see for now is bitcoin will be a choice of people on transaction wise not a total replacement to dollar for instead a way of an easy transaction. But the possibilities does not stop for now because we all know that technology also developing meaning that bitcoin future is more to discover for now.

I don't think bitcoin will replace any kind of currency. Never. First, the government wants control over the economy, so does the banks. With bitcoin, no one has control. Bitcoin may be more widely accepted around the world, but only has an optional way to pay.
maybe right. Bitcoin is a currency, or a free investment tool, and anyone can use it. If bitcoin replaces a currency, maybe bitcoin is no longer the same. Basically bitcoin can not be controlled, even by a country, so I guess it's also impossible for bitcoin to replace the currency like dollar or else
Let's think straight here, bitcoin has no power to replace any legal currency, once the government will ban bitcoin then game is over, that's how powerful the government is but they will never ban their own, that's my simple explanation.

Yes, good point. And I think there isn't a necessity to replace dollar. We can have all the currencies working very well, if people have the right to choose what currency to use, no problem. What can't exist are governments forbiding their people to adopt Crypto-Currency, that is wrong. Anyway, dollar is too strong and it will continue leading the world for much time yet, and I think there aren't disadvantages on it.
Dollar is legally owned by the USA but bitcoin is not owned or controlled by anyone, however they have different definition,
bitcoin is a payment system while Dollar is a legal currency, we should know which is stronger now.
That is right that we should know what is stronger currency as of now but there will no possibility for bitcoin to replace dollar because dollar is so powerful currency and the countries that support bitcoin is very strong and it will be a hard mission for bitcoin to beat them. Bitcoin will be just an additional i think.

Dollar is the basis on any currency value so it is impossible to happen, it will takes lot of times and procedures to make it happen. Bitcoin alone can make its name on its own without diminishing any currency.
Bitcoin replacing the dollar won't happen, because it's a currency which grew up based on several economies. Bitcoin alone or as a united cryptocurrency network can't take the place of dollar. Recently dollar value got declined but the usage is same. So now or in future bitcoin will grow and hold a separate place for it. As a start it has gained acceptance in Japan as one among the currency used.

I wish bitcoin could replace dollar but if wishes were horses, beggars would ride so I would say no to the possibility of bitcoin replacing dollar in 25 years but yes I believe that after dollar bitcoin will emerge as one of widely accepted and popular currency in the next 25 years and not in 25 years maybe sooner than that.

Probably bitcoin will not replace dollar but bitcoin can be popular such as dollar. However the government will always defend their currency.

Bitcoin will never replace the dollar. However, dollar is a currency that has a legitimate legal force. But that does not mean bitcoin will be lost by dollar, bitcoin will represent dollar in terms of bitcoin can be money to spend by users.

At this time the people who say it is impossible, but I would say this is very possible. If the user is bitcoin continues to increase, then there is no reason to make the bitcoin main priority and replace the dollar.

I would say that it's impossible. Even the price of bitcoin increases, it is decentralized and the government isn't willing to adopt this type of payment system or as a currency because they will be hard time to manipulate it. And instead of manipulating it for their people, the whales are the ones that can manipulate the government.
I can't believe that someone can say that bitcoin can be replace dollar for me its impossible since bitcoin is just use as alternative payment just like other payment method like vcc use to buy something online. bitcoin is just an internet money there is no physical coin for bitcoin ., and the price of bitcoin is not always stable so if people use it as majority possible that worldwide market will refuse.
Not a good idea to replace dollar with bitcoin..
I agree, I think that bitcoin is no longer could be considered as a threatening currency to the dollar, I think that bitcoin should no langer be considered as a currency anymore, not as people treating it right now, people don’t use their coins to buy things or go and pay for their groceries with it, they store it save it until the price goes up, so the real question is would bitcoin replace gold ?
