i highly doubt that bitcoin would replace the dollar .. since the goverment wont allow it unless if it is in their favor .. and even if there's a posibility of it happening .. it wont be anytime soon

for the moment I do not think that bitcoin will replace the dollar, even that probably will not happen, because the dollar is an international currency. may bitcoin will become the currency of its own on the Internet. Well, now people always pay attention to the dollar price and compare it with other currencies, so for now it will not happen

All transactions of the world as i know are based into dollar value, soo you really believe that bitcoin someday will replace it? Be realistic people, just a small portion of people does know and have bitcoin, while the all world does know and might have dollars, being online or fiat, the thing is bitcoin is just an option with potencial to grow but not to replace any currencie.

It is a long talk now. If there is someone pushing it people might think he is crazy. Some dont even know the word "bitcoin".
This is a good question though and we dont know what could happen someday. We only have the "what ifs".
I think it is too much to fight a strong currency maybe we can start with the weak ones to change the way they use money.

I honestly don't think it'll happen, certainly not in 15 years... In 100 years maybe?

I don't think the problem is technology- we already are extremely close to being able to replace the dollar in that matter, due to smartphones. The problem lies with government control of money, and the legal guarantee and security (stability-wise) that it brings. If smartphone technology becomes cheaper, I think we may see countries with unstable dollar value using it more.
It's actually makes sense but since bitcoin transaction required internet access
There a lot of places that not yet covered by internet access then having smartphone will mean nothing
I think the same that it's not impossible for bitcoin to replace dollar
But of course not in the near future, not soon.

No, I do not think it will replace the dollar soon as the dollar has been established for a very long time, that it is used a reserve currency by many countries around the World and because a crypto-currency will never be the official currency of a big country such as the United States.
You cannot even consider bitcoin as currency in the eyes of the people, it is just a payment system and that is it's real definition. It does not have the characteristics like other legitimate currencies, if the bitcoin value will rise, that is due to the demand and not because it is more popular than fiat.
Bitcoin is not that old as fiat, it is not stable yet as anytime we can see the price pump and dump.

Yes I think so, dollar is going down

If it's going down, the Euro and other currencies are on the line waiting to be at the top. Definitely not yet bitcoin. But who knows.

True, but who knows, they might be into crypto currency too later on, lets say a digital money/currency. It's not too hard to happen.  Smiley

I think it is very difficult, we all know that the dollar ruled the world economy, about 3 billion of the world population use the dollar as an instrument of the transaction. While the new bitcoin used no more than 1 million users. so I'm not sure bitcoin could replace the dollar.

We as users of the bitcoin surely hopes to replace dollar, but we also have to be realistic because the dollar is the strongest currency in the world that it took a long time to be able to replace the dollar. If President Trump confirms bitcoin, will certainly accelerate the process.

So according to you, 'The Highly Anticipated Anonymous & Decentralized Cryptocurrency' 's future depends upon a single person named 'Donald Trump'. Thats indeed funny. Government at max can contribute to Bitcoin's success by implementing it in government operations. Otherwise, since no objection is raised by Government till now about Bitcoin can assure that it is confirmed and in its free-rein!
I don't think Bitcoin is depends on any govt. no matter if it is govt of America which is the strongest country of the world. bitcoin is strong enough and can take it's place by itself, I am not saying it will replace dollar but it have some potential. none of you disagree this.

They both work together so i think this will not gonna happen in near future, if it will happen then it will take many years because dollar is the currency which is accepted worldwide and most of the countries people know the importance of Dollar and still there are many people or countries which don't have knowledge about the importance of bitcoin. So for me bitcoin will never replace dollar.

The most important thing is that, for the United States Dollar, its value is assured by the US treasury. But for Bitcoin, no agency will assure its value. Therefore the exchange rates are entirely dependent upon the supply/demand equilibrium.

That is the main reason why bitcoin cannot replace the US dollars or other fiat currencies. Bitcoin cannot live without the fiat currency and in case we cut off the connection between fiat currency and bitcoin then the end  result is bitcoin will be just an ordinary number flashing on our screen. Bitcoin has build its foundation on the fiat currency and it cannot separate itself and will never be independent. Bitcoin is a good online currency but it cannot replace fiat currency even in the long run.

There seems to need little long Time Again create bitcoin replace the dollar, because until now the dollar is still the belief of many people as a reference the financial comparison
bitcoin very strong have billions of users spread around the world, because the dollar is a global currency? compare with bitcoin which still has millions of users, this is not comparable
Of course there are still many dollar, I'm not sure bitcoin can beat dollar, because if we calculate possible bitcoin not more than 0.001% of the dollar market, and also the government of USA will never approve bitcoin as legal currency.

Bitcoin is growing strongly, its value is growing and still develop further. However, I believe that it will be unable to replace the dollar. First, the dollar has the life history and development are many times longer than Bitcoin. The dollar has appeared hundreds of years ago, a new Bitcoin only appear in nearly 10 years. The second is the popularity of the stronger dollar also Bitcoin. I'm sure that more than half the world's population knows dollars. Bitcoin is only familiar to those who work on the internet. I think Bitcoin will not be replaced in the future dollar, but no one knows what by Bitcoin is growing strongly, its potential is huge Cheesy Cheesy

Really I dont think it will happen. Government is not that dump to accept bitcoin payments. I am sure , definitely in the near future all governments will interfere in the bitcoin usage. Actually bitcoin has got a lot of advantages. In the same time , it has got so many disadvantages too. We all know bitcoin transactions are anonymous. Just imagine if it reaches in the wrong hands and if used for illegal activites . Now governments are not thinking in that way because bitcoins are not that popular. But once when it becomes popular, all governments will definitely find a way to regulate the usage of bitcoins.

If thats the case,  bitcoin users will not be anonymous anymore. They will be like fiat that all of its bank members will not be anonymous in terms of transactions. Dollars on the other hand cannot be replace by bitcoins in 15years or so. All countries must accept it first before it will replace dollars. Because if you travel in other countries, your bitcoins will be useless if you can't exchange it to other currencies.
I don't know how a regulation could make Bitcoin less anonymous. The only way for governments to know which people are transacting, would be a situation in which the government itself creates a wallet for each person. The problem is that people could create other wallets, and choose not to use the one that is traceable.
It is really hard for the government to do it. We can create wallet as much as we want if we like to.
So, maybe the government shall coordinate this matter to bitcoin creators if they want to which I think is impossible to do.
Maybe the least thing that the government could do is to regulate the price.
