Just do not forget the most important thing - the government regulation. That it can negatively affect the development of the currency. For example, the Chinese government has tightened measures to cryptocurrency
That is true that is why bitcoin can never become or replace the international currencies, because governments cannot control it and its value is not stable and it is not related to any fixed market and that is why they are trying to prevent us from using through making it harder for us to use it.

It's very impossible for bitcoin to replace international currencies and even the local currencies of small country they are not going to let it happen. Because if that will happen they can be controlled by a big or a holder that has a lot of bitcoins stored to his wallet or to his cold storage.
Any currency is the blood of the economy of the state. It should be strictly under government control. Let me remind you that the responsibility of any Central Bank is the stability of the currency. How this can be facilitated by bitcoin?

Yeah, it is indeed a big problem for bitcoin can be accepted in the Government. Because the main problem in the bitcoin is a control center, where it now has no bitcoin someone who holds control center or maybe he's just hiding to keep control it. It does not mean if the higher price bitcoin special will be noticed by the bank, but it could happen otherwise. So, better enjoy every results we get and wiser in addressing growth bitcoin in order to benefit the good life and help

To the OPs post, there is no way that bitcoin will ever replace dollar or any stronger fiat, maybe some currency in a country that's hit by inflation. Tho, I don't think that bitcoin will ever become a currency as we know them, it's will probably remain as a secondary option next  to fiat.

No doubt about that. Bitcoin is an option to those countries who wants it. Besides, government don't want something that is out of control, and bitcoin is uncontrollable, so it is way off to become a main currency of a certain country.

Anyway, dollar is strong, it was tested by time and it is still there, still on top, so I think, it's hard for bitcoin to replace it, unless the people/government wants it and if Bitcoin will be good for them.  Smiley

I dont believe this will take place in the near future and by that i mean 20-30years from now, uncle Sam dont wanna lose control over his currency, and be subject of manupulation from a chinese billionaire early BTC adopter , that would be a disaster from day one right ??
Maybe with another crypto-US-goverment-currency will do that, but then again we dont really know who Satoshi is/was ....  Cool

And why should they need another government just to use crypto? If they can take over everything on blockchain technology and take control of the bitcoin, I dont think that they really need another governement just to control this crypto currency

I doubt that Bitcoin will replace any Fiat currency. Due to the reason that it is not controlled by any government and the demand of it in the next 15 years will absolutely rise but not enough for it to takeover any currency. Lets face it Bitcoin's growth right now is good and it is on the right track it will never become a national currency of any country.

I don't think Bitcoin will ever replace the dollar or euro. One of the facts is that it's price is very volatile. But I do think that it will become mainstream one day.  Roll Eyes
i think its possible that bitcoin will replace dollar sooner in the future because bitcoin getting much more popularity and bitcoin users increasing quickly and i hope bitcoin will be replace sooner to dollar.
yes it is possible but only if all the people of the world will start using bitcoin and i think it not possible in near future, therefore it will take a lot of time to replace dollar.

Yeah you got the poin.. that is why bitcoin is still the same as before.. just the different right now more website are accepting it but accepting bitcoin locally still not except from other country like in brazil and paris that there are some stores are accepting bitcoin as payment. .
Even bitcoin is accepted already to Brazil and Paris still it will not make the replacement of dollar. it will be just a good way for exchanging of products/ goods and services and it will remain be like that plus the investment it can give to us.

Big countries know about bitcoin already and as it continues to be progressive, the popularity will increase even more and although  it will be very popular as dollar, it will not replace dollar since dollar is a currency and bitcoin is a payment system. In short, they are complete different from each other and a legal currency is more dominant than a payment system.
I was aware if the bitcoin looks like the digital payment gateway without the unlimited coverage around the world. Dollar and bitcoin have the different definition and also on the other aspect among bitcoin and dollar. It will never replace the dollar in the future.

Coinbase CEO believes bitcoin will replace dollar within 15 years.

Read the following news:
http://cointelegraph.com/news/114983/coinbase-ceo-bitcoin-will-replace-dollar-within-15-years

Do you think it will be true? Are you positive towards bitcoin's future status?

I don't think that the government will let the Bitcoin replace the dollar.
The Bitcoin will stay an crypto-currency but I think that it will be main stream over 15 years.

I don´t think so.

Theretically, if you can convince goverments to accept is as an alternative currency (pay taxes with BTC), it would be possible. BUT at the moment the bitcoinnetwork is to slow, somethimes there are already problems with confirmations of transactions.

Furthermore imagine f.e. your parents. Would they ever use BTC? I think in the most cases no, so thats the problem, it takes at least one generation which grew up with computers (like the now 25y old people) to be in charge of important decisions like this (like 60y old senators and bank managers), to think about adoption of BTC.

For the near future, certainly not possible. But if bitcoin can last up to 25 years, I believe that bitcoin will replace the dollar. users of the bitcoin is always increasing, and certainly had a strong chance to replace dollar.

Bitcoin is nothing more than an alternative to fiat and other assets, what's so difficult about this to understand? Nothing beside the governments themselves have the ability to force through changes, and perhaps even replace it (which I don't think will happen in the coming decades). In order for Bitcoin to at least make a chance to reach mass scale adoption, it at least has to perform well as currency. Exactly that is something that it doesn't do (in the way that it doesn't outperform fiat when it comes to the currency aspect). Why would the average people then ditch their fiat currencies and hop over to something way less convenient as daily payment tool? Doesn't make any sense.

In positive way, bitcoin will be progressive, and so asking of bitcoin will going to replace dollar, I guess it takes years so many years to take before replacing dollar. But the possibility is there since many people nowadays that are using this and still registering to access bitcoin, the problem that it may take is on how all people can access this easily not using laptop, phone or CPU.

I don't think Bitcoin can repalce Dollar soon, but after a long time, this may be happen!
as i study the comments of so many people on that topic and most of the people are agree on the point that bitcoin cannot replace USD. but i will like to add that yes currently its looki like difficult that bitcoin will replace USD but i think when time will pass and when the number of bitcoin users will increase then bitcoin can replace USD.
Even almost people and wordwide are using there is no possibility that usd can be replace with bitcoin.. since its a virtual payment just like virtual card that can be use for payment processor online..
Government dont let allow bitcoin since the priority use of bitcoin is anonymously transactions that can be use in illegal and gambling activity..
We are just want bitcoin due to gaining the benefits of bitcoin..
I agree. It is impossible for bitcoin to replace dollar because as you said, it is virtual or digital and the feature of being anonymous can be abuse by the criminals. Bitcoin is can't replace dollar also because it doesn't have fixed value which is an advantage and also disadvantage for some people.
but i think it is possible and it just require a lot of time. because the users of bitcoin are not big. and when the users of bitcoin will increase they will defiantly decrease the use of USD and when all the people will start using bitcoin for every thing then it can replace USD.

Yes you are right. No economy can not accept Bitcoin as the base currency. The government should manage the currency, but it will never be able to manage the Bitcoin
