It is not possible to replace dollars. dollar is a currency that is valid all over the world. but the bitcoin has not been as good as the dollar yet. it is also less likely to be in the future. It makes more sense to ask if bitcoin will replace gold.
Exactly. The dollar already has the trust from many people around the world, not to mention that the government backs it. Since Bitcoin is a decentralized currency, it will be hard for it to overcome the dollar, as the latter is much more friendly and convenient for government's use and manipulation. Since the dollar can be inflated and manipulated by its central banks, it makes the ideal choice for adoption in that specific country.
Whereas Bitcoin and the Dollar are apples and oranges, I really do think that Bitcoin can really replace Gold in the future. It will continue to rise in value, until it becomes the most valuable asset in the world. Many big investors and VC will jump into Bitcoin, making its demand rise over the course of time. Since last year, Bitcoin has been approved for futures trading, I’d say that the decentralized cryptocurrency will continue to make strides in the mainstream world for years to come.
In the future, both Bitcoin and the Dollar will co-exist leaving people with a variety of options to choose from when transacting with others, or investing for the long-term. Just my thoughts
