I don't think that will ever happen because not everyone have the technology like in south afrika. I think that paper money will always exist because people can be sure that they get the money because maybe in the future people come up with something that you don't pay but still get what you want.

I doubt it,  but it's possible.  It takes longer to confirm than paper money takes to transfer in in-person transactions,  however.

No, digital money will never completely displace paper money. The banking system will not allow it to be destroyed, and paper money will always be kept for an emergency.
I don't think that cryptocurrency will ever replace paper money. Because paper money has been the currency like for a lifetime of a person and not all can join or can go along with the cyrpto world because it deals with technology and internet. Not everyone has access to it so not everyone can practice crypto world and not all can understand it that fast. It will take a lot of time.

I don't think digital currency will replace Fiat, it may later be dominant but fiat will still remain, not everyone can work with cryptocurrent, not everyone will be educated and not every one will be able to operate this technological devices.
I guess cryptocurrency will never ever replace fiat. Because we all know that crypto is in the digital world. By means it needs to deal with online activities. And not all the people can deal with it. I mean crypto world can also be hard to deal with especially for people who does not have access to the internet and also don't have any gadget. So fiat will still win over crypto.

If you noticed in many countries people are using debit card to pay . I think it will increase in future all over the world . paper money is now using less in big cities . because all over the world it is digital time is going on . so you can say digital currency will take place of paper currency.

I think it will. Maybe not Bitcoin will be the main currency but probably USD on a blockchain. More and more people beginn to use debit cards, credit cards and mobile payment solutions like Apple Pay. People are lazy and it is comfortable to pay with your phone.
I am aware that paying for everything on the phone is handy in some cases but in some other cases I think it is detrimental. and in some countries the use of crypto is not appropriate for their equipment or infrastructure. btc as well as crypto is very strong, but I think it still can not replace the paper money circulated officially in the country.

I don't figure it will supplant paper cash in nation where cash is steady (we will dependably have US dollars). Be that as it may, since more individuals are associated now and in a not so distant future everybody can approach a telephone and web, some poor nation may choose it is best for them to supplant their fiat cash by digital currencies.
I am totally agree with you.
I don't think bitcoin will replace paper cash.
Because it will create some contradiction among the world.
Bitcoin can be like gold.
Volatility is the main reason why bitcoin cannot replace paper cash.
So i think Paper cash will exist.

Bitcoin is strong, no doubt, but completely everything in the world will not replace anything.IMHO

Digital currencies can't possibly replace paper money because digital currencies like bitcoins do not have a real physical form. It is precisely the paper money that is the comparison to the physical form of bitcoin in terms of quantity. It's different if bitcoins have a physical form, so it's possible that in the future the digital currency will replace the paper money.

Personally I say yes as our society becomes increasingly dependent upon technology, digital currency will become a more popular means of paying for different things and it is more effective and instant. I haven't used much physical money in the past 8 years and I rarely had any problems with that.

What do you guys think? Wink

Meh. While we are certainly moving towards a cashless society, no, we will never replace fiat, essentially, tokenized value. why? besides there being no need, as fiat and scrip have worked just fine for ages untold, "cash" has a few functions that digital value can never have. mainly cuz you can hold it, LOL.

You dont need electricity, or a ledger, to transact fiat. just hand those fuckers over, they give you change. this ability to make "off chain" transactions is inherently dangerous with digital payments systems, "offchain" means "hack" or "scam". you have to be connected to the central ledger for this to work; that is not always a convenient, or even possible, thing.

But since more people are connected now and in a near future everyone can have access to a phone and internet, some poor country might decide it is best for them to replace their fiat money by crypto currencies.

I think that Bitcoin would replace the paper money since there will be a digital revolution that occurs in the future. But the point here is that we will be a cashless society in the future and the currency is bitcoin.

I do not think digital money can replace paper money. Although digital money has evolved and has many uses, it only replaces part of the paper money, which can not completely replace paper money.

Yes I think it's obviously possible that digital currency will take the place of paper money.Because now a days peoples are much dependent on digital currency more than cash. For example Unites States, Netherland,Denmark  and so on.
So i think here's a great possibility that digital currency will ever replace paper money.

Replace as the main currency, probably. But to say that it will wipe fiat's existence is folly. You've mentioned here developed countries that can have easy access to technology that will support a paperless system. But the third world and poorer countries, i doubt that its going to work there
Yes its possible and it’s easy for bitcoin to replace paper money as we know that bitcoin has already replace other crypto and the reason behind this is that bitcoin have now a very strong position in market with high price and bitcoin provide a lot of good opportunity to the people so bitcoin have a power to replace paper money.

Right, I really agree with you, bitcoin is very easy to use, what else. if bitcoin replaces paper money, I strongly agree, because it does not bother. if traveling abroad and of course we are required to exchange currency first to replace the currency of the country, if using bitcoin everybody do not have to bother to swap currency, at least using payment with bitcoin will make it easier for everyone ...

I think the younger generation embraces new technology better, so I could foresee a future in which digital currency replaces paper money, but I think the transition would be revolutionary.

I do not think that digital currency will replace paper money. New president who sits in their respective countries want their face seen in a paper money.  Paper money is also another way of encouraging tourism in a country.  In the Philippines where I live, you can see in the paper money endangered species face that can only be found in my country like the smallest monkey [tarsier] or faces of our heroes.  In short, we live in a diversified world binded by different culture, traditions and beliefs... that makes it impossible for paper money to be replace by digital currency.
