I think that after a while there will be no paper money, everyone will make purchases with cards. But cryptocurrencies do not replace fiat money. Everything become computerized. USD will become a digital currency and will be a neighbor of the bitcoin.

No. Many people are living in a third world country. People who cannot afford having a computer so paper money cannot be replaced by any digital currency even after how many years.

Well it's mot limited to computers that you can maximize the use of crypto though i have to agree that it would be almost impossible to strip fiat off of any country at this point or anytime in the future. Use both fiat and crypto. It will make it easier than just choosing one over the other

Yes, it will be recognized and regulated as a commodity rather than a currency for now. just give atleast 2-3 years to recognize crypto on their own countries. central banks will show interest in digital currency they making their own.

Personally I say yes as our society becomes increasingly dependent upon technology, digital currency will become a more popular means of paying for different things and it is more effective and instant. I haven't used much physical money in the past 8 years and I rarely had any problems with that.

What do you guys think? Wink
Yes I think that digital currency will ever replace paper money because the digital currency can be a money in where it can buy things that you need. And I believe that bitcoin has a very good future and that bitcoin will be used and will be known by many people.  Bitcoin can be a money to replace the  paper money.
i agree that digital currency will replace paper money because it's a definite change of time, but i'm not so sure that bitcoin will replace paper money as a legitimate and widely used payment instrument in the future, because i think the world bank will certainly think about the times, and i'm sure that they will also make a new version of money that is a digital version,,

I think No, because when credit and debit cards were introduced way back a couple of decades ago - a lot of people isn't using it specially those who are self-employed. Bitcoin on the other hand although it offers portability and easy access but it will take time to wait that all types of people class will be able to adapt this kind of monetary. In this case, farmers and other low end jobs is inaccessible by blockchain technology or even in public and private sectors are really not that easy to adapt.

Yes. But it will take a long time (>100 years) and even so you will find remote places that will still use paper money / other kind of trades.

The possibility is always there, but you need to consider the world's population and economic standing of each countries. Most of the population currently are living below the poverty line. There are a lot of families who are not yet connected to the internet, and making payments digitalized would only increase the weight on their shoulders and obligations. Assuming that the world would be surrounded by developed countries, then I think that bitcoin may potentially replace the fiat system and paper money in the very far future.

I think digital money can replace paper money  in future, nowaday, we are living in a modern society evolving everyday, so paper money cant not be used in future, because it destroy trees to make money, and in a digital world, we need fast and easy transactions so we use digital money, by that way digital currency can make paper money disappear.

Bitcoin is the currency of this age
The challenge of internet is a major  factor which migth militate against this.the rural and developing countries do not have access to the internet, which is a major tool for Bitcoin transaction, but hopefully with the development of ATM card for Bitcoin, this will make it replace paper money

I also think that the digital currencies will replace the paper money because this is the era where the technology is starting to change the world and also the form of money and because of the digital currencies. The transactions and payments will become much easier than before and people will not need to bring their thick wallet for payments because they can bring millions or dollars by their smartphones and because of the digital currencies.

In my own maybe or no, physical money is deferent from digital money. A handy money or physical money we can buy in mini store without internet connection, how about fair to taxi easy to pay with the real money. But there is some thing advantage from digital money to physical by using internet connection we can pay bills, or do shopping and have easy transaction.
We could not replace paper money to digital money because both of them are usefull to our daily lives.

Looking at the poll today more people seem to think it is unlikely. But the votes are still pretty close Smiley

Yes, I strongly believe that digital currency will replace paper money. As we know in our present world, there is a high concurrence between paper money and digital currency. If many countries or people start to know about bitcoin and accept it, banks will go bankrupt.

Paper money are not DIGITAL so it can not be replaced in full .
In crisis time like Peurto Rico you have problems with power and crypto is usless then.
SO it can not be replaced.

I do not think crypto will entirely replace printed money in the immediate future. I however see it as a very good possibility later maybe 10-15 years. we are already pretty much a cashless society with all the use of credit cards and debit cards as well as large companies paying payroll on debit cards and the transfer of funds on money cards of all types. The wave of the future is approaching.
Even in the next two decades I doubt that there is going to be any major shift to a completely cashless society, and a majority of the time I would not trust any sort of banking system holding some digits they can just delete ant any point if you just happen to not be a good goy. Having a banking system built around only digits makes fiat now even less valuable than it could have ever been, crime becomes easier in some of its own ways since people will now move to technical fields of study, siphoning a few extra dollars (which are no more than digits which control you) becomes something not completely inconceivable.

TLDR Cashless societies are bad.
I think no bucause the symbol of money is our identity that we have one nation, so paper money exist even if the digital currency is become acquainted. And yet paper money is more convenient for daily use for paying and buying in the store
i think the ancient mind will think about it, no offense dude
because the more sophisticated the world of technology will make it easier and it will be easier to shop and pay through digital money than using cash, i think in some movies have seen how to use digital money to shop, i have no doubt about the future of paper money that paper money will soon become archaic and unused, and will be replaced by digital money

I don't think digital currency will ever replace paper money, not with third world countries. It will be difficult for them to adapt to such changes due to social, government and financial constraint. Such countries also have problems about internet connection. Moreover, currency is often viewed by people as something tangible, something that can be held, that's why I just can't see digital currency will ever replace the paper money despite its advantages.
