I don't know if they use BTC, don't care either... I do know that some of their supporters are active on this forum:

We can't remove the fact that ISIS is very powerful org. I mean, they can get anything if they want. So i'm pretty sure that ISIS CAN use Bitcoin but why the hell in the world would they need bitcoin if they more need guns and other things to sustain their lives.

There has been at least one instance in the past, when an Islamic State sympathizer/recruiter was found using Bitcoins to send funds to the ISIS. Ali Shukri Amin was sentenced to 11 years in prison for the crime in 2015, by a judge in Virginia.

Then Bitcoin is used by them, I just hoped the time Amir was caught, the dontaion to these Dark wallet was halted.
I am thinking maybe these guy is a terrorist after all, he's name is Ali Shukri Amin, sounds like a terrorist name. What I am wondering is that why is he doing that? He knows that ISIS is the most dangerous enemy the government has, helping them is a treason, so what or how can helping the ISIS help him? Does he get any benefit from it?

yes. Maybe they use bitcoin. But there is one thing they sell oil and they buy weapons, but it is very possible they use bitcoin as their purchasing tool. To cover their identity.

Certain individual members almost certainly use bitcoin but not ISIS as an organisation almost definitely don't use it in a consistent or organised manner. This is evidenced by the fact they hold huge sums of cash which regularly get bombed, plus their core members are in countries and areas that have poor internet infrastructure.

I think the only ISIS members that use bitcoin are probably self proclaimed ISIS members residing in western countries.

Maybe, because I know that there is a guy on them which do know a lot about technology and other stuffs that is advance in this world, just like in the movies, there is a hacker that knows everything that keeps them updated on what is happenings around the world, and there is a possibility that they do know about bitcoin, who knows they are using it to secretly buy illegal firearms online.

There is a high chance that the isis is using bitcoin. But i also think that they don't really need bitcoin instead they need equipments and guns for them to sustain their lives since they are rebels.

We all know that Bitcoin is also popular to criminals because they can use it without exposing their identity. It will be more convenient to them to use Bitcoin so that they can hide their identity. Do you think that terrorist groups like ISIS use it for their transactions?
If they normally use Local fiat currencies on their illegal activities then probably and possibly they do make use of bitcoin too knowing its anonymity features.yes, its convenient to use just a click away and you do make already make huge transfer of money for using it on terrorism. This is the advantage of bitcoin which it can really be used by those people who do really have bad intentions.

Bitcoin is already all known now a days. It is not possible that even ISIS uses bitcoin. Because they can use it to hide their identities and for their transactions without even using their faces or ID's. And maybe they can use it for the future for their funds to terrorist and conquer other countries by using bitcoin.
So, as far as ISIS is concern it is not possible that they use any currency especially btc now a days for their future plans.

They can be. Bitcoin can be used to fund their activities faster than money transfer and it is harder to track. It is being used in illegal activities, terrorism is not far behind.

Cryptocurrency terrorism,, terrorists using cryptocurrencies for funding terrorist activities is very low compared to the usage of dollars. The media has just blown it out of proportion, but not much truth in it.  Terrorist activities were getting funded even before bitcoin and so are now. The decentralized, anonymous nature of bitcoins might make it suitable for carrying out illegal transactions, but as far as terrorism is concerned so are other currencies. The donors who fund terrorist activities can easily send dollars or why any other currency as anonymously as BTC.

And as far as ISIS is concerned they are almost self-funding. Sales of oil and gas, taxes, extortion, agricultural products, drugs, and they looted $1 billion from banks in Syria.

So it cannot be said cryptocurrencies are specifically used for terrorist activities. If they are then it as same as they are using dollars or any other currency.

ISIS is a world criminal organization (terrorists), it's hard to know how they do their transactions because it's classified and even the world investigation groups are looking for a traceroute (anything that can bring ISIS transactions). If they use Bitcoin I think it will become a problem to them because they might be traced through waves. Their supply of weapons and machinery are still a question but that is being investigated by world organization. We won't know, I don't know if they are using Bitcoin because I think they are using more deep under the table transactions than BTC.

LOL.
as long as there is the good old US dollar which is untraceable, anonymous, easy to obtain, use and spend literary anywhere in the world, why would anyone with malicious intents want to use bitcoin which is traceable, not anonymous, hard to obtain, use and spend?!

Exactly! ransom and oil for example are worth millions per transaction (daily oil output from ISIS is millions). Using Bitcoin, this means a few thousand coins moving around making it so easy to trace by any of us. There's no easier way to say "Hello look at me" Smiley

No I dont think so. Now I don't know much about the IS or how they operate, but I think most of the trades are done by US cash. I think if they used bitcoins, they could easily be traced, cash cannot. I have no idea how they buy all their equipment, but I imagine they communicate via internet and pay with cash upon delivery.

Most likely, they use it, but only if it buys in other countries or from them, because for transactions to buy weapons, drugs personally, this is very stupid, the transaction will be long confirmed.

I don't think ISIS will have time to sign up to get a BTC address and I don't think ISIS will have time to wait for confirmation that funds has been received on in their specified BTC address. And to think that they are always on the go and their usual hiding places don't have internet connection, (jungle or desert) BTC is not a good option for them to use. Specially if they want to change it to fiat.

I agree I think it is not convenient for them to used bitcoin, the transaction speed is kind of slow, I don't think they want it and bitcoin is also not really anonymous, we can still track the transaction and not all people want to accept bitcoin as the payment token, so I doubt they used it

Yes, currently ISIS uses 2 Currency Type. Namely Gold Dinar and Bitcoin. Gold Dinar Coins are used for People who have ISIS mastered. While Bitcoin is used for ISIS Army Soldiers fighting and buying weapons equipment from the Dark International Market.
