I guess 400 would really be enough if the farmers are close to whom would help or somehow family related. But with the current situation in the Philippines is getting worse plus the price of goods and/or any family's necessity in financial terms are increasing, I think adding more to the donation would be a great help to those farmers. I mean, if it would be a donation not only to make the farm but to feed the farmers families, then doubling the donation or atleast giving more wouldn't be bad right?
If this would remain in continue this coming June, I might try to share some of my profit.
Receiving more donations is always useful and we could save it for future campaigns. As he's sharing the harvested rice with his town, we need to clear how he's setting up his farm again when he doesn't make profits by selling rice.
I don't know about his current plans but maybe he can sell a part of the harvested rice to use it again for new rice seedlings after the rice is harvested.

certainly, I was more curious about how is profitable rice farm. If he invests $700, how much they will get back worth yield? will be able to double that amount?
Here in my country, some plants it does not pay to produce at all, especially on small farms.
Good question, I'll ask him how much money he would make if he would sell his entire harvest.

My small donation is on the way and I hope it will help achieve the goal in the end - and it would certainly be nice for as many people as possible to get involved with smaller donations - because as some say, every good deed in life comes back one way or another Wink
Many thanks for your donation.  Smiley
And yes, every donation is appreciated. Even if it's only 0.1 mBTC, people can send us with a very low transaction fee. We don't have any hurry here to receive the tx immediately.

I've sent once again 0.5 mBTC recently, so we are at 3.20 mBTC, so 3.80 mBTC remains to collect.  Smiley

So, this is a donation for donation. that's fair.

I guess this is just basically a donation drive to give a community a farm that they can use to literally feed their families and not by selling what they harvests. And if we were talking about profits, based on what I know, rice farms here in the Philippines can earn a thousand dollars if a 700USD was invested as an initial capital for farmers to use plus the equipment they rent for harvesting it. It would still depend on what is the quality of rice plus where would you sell it. Why? There are tons of rice types here which the price varies as well, and there are marketplaces here that isn't really capable of buying expensive rice whilst there are rice being exported from provinces to urban areas.. which makes a sack of rice be sold low by farmers yet sold high in popular marketplaces, unless a farm is owned by a Milling Corporation.

A little shocked that the project focused on making a farm in the country I live. And were shocked more upon knowing that the goal is only around 400USD or 20K PHP, which if tractors and equipments would be bought, might never be enough.
The farm is not very big and the previous farm was at least double size, for which 700$ were enough. Machines will be rented which has a cost of approximately 150$, he said last time.

these really aren’t big amounts, I don’t think you’ll have a problem getting enough money for that.
I am curious, how much he can make a profit from the farm like this?
whether there will be enough just for their needs, or they will have enough to sell?
He answered me this also today and said, he doesn't generate profits from selling rice: Because it is a small farm, harvested rice will be distributed to his town for everyone who will help harvesting it.

A few questions that I still want raise, are the Taxes and the labor fees to those who would make this possible physically are considered in setting the collection goal? Since it is already completed, I think it is not that bad to make a "hard cap" like for the donation.
Labor fees are included but he's mainly setting it up himself with someone from his town, like our last project (there are two workers in some of the pictures).
I'll ask him about taxes and reply here, when he has answered. But most likely it seems to be he and his neighbors setting the farm up.

I can donate some Aevo coins to the project. Also will there be updates on the project and incentives to the people that took part in donating?
Whatever the coin is, you can exchange it for BTC or ETH from a swap site or in an exchange. It seems the receiver is not much into crypto so giving him random coins/tokens will be difficult for him to convert. You can also create a topic for exchange in the currency exchange section I guess.

I've got some questions answered from him recently:

ok, to push it up I sent one more step to reach the funding goal.
Thank you for organizing this.
Great! Nice to to see we have one more donation.  Smiley
Next weekend, I'll also add another 0.5 mBTC.

I can donate some Aevo coins to the project.

I'll ask him if he can use Aevo coins and reply here later, maybe tomorrow, same time.

I've asked him and he doesn't know Aevo coins, he's only accepting BTC and ETH.

For harvesting, he'll share the rewards with all people from his town who will help him, it seems to be a (partly) community owned farm or something like that.

The land seems to need a lot of work to be done and I know how hard it is to make a land good for farming, I just pray here and hope that you are going to reach that goal and get more donations than you could've expected.
Yes, he said this too, there need to be a lot of old plants removed and the ground needs to be prepared to be suitable for small rice seedlings.
But that did already work for the previos farm where we had to remove old plants, too.  Smiley

Wish the unit is in satoshi, or perhaps also dominated in satoshi to make things easier for people who are used to that particular unit... And also it would be a good idea to specify the list of things that need to be bought for transparency sake. I believe there are people who would want to be sure that what they are funding is safe. For example, not everyone will like to fund things that include GMOs or synthetic chemicals.
Will keep an eye on the thread.
It would really be much better if it would really be showing off on what are the things that would tend to be purchased.
As far as I know he needs to purchase:
- Renting machines to remove old plants and prepare the grounds
- Rice seedling

So checking out on that piece of lot, then i would like to ask on OP on how big (in sqm) the lot is?  For that $400+ target fund goal is just for cleaning up the area and setting it up as a rice field?
If yes, then i can say that it would be too much.
I'll ask him, how much sqm the farm is in total.
The problem is renting machines is very expensive and the general cost of renting them is 150$.

Lot of money in 3rd world but basing only on this kind of farming business then that wont really be enough for sure.Im bit interested on this one...
At least this is a start. This is another demonstration that using bitcoin or let's say crypto one can easily help someone in any corner of the world where there are no boundaries at all.
Yes, that's exactly what I was thinking when I started the first campaign. Bitcoin is suitable for various use-cases and cross-border donations from all over the world are a great demonstration how Bitcoin can improve global issues.
We have seen some donation campaigns here already (like from cabalism13 etc.) which is a very good sign.  Smiley

Yes, we have started this last year, when some thypoons hit the Phillipines and his town was affected. It went very well, so we have agreed to expand the farm.  Smiley
I wish you good luck brother. Also hope that you reach your goal.
Thank you very much. If we don't reach the goal from donations, I'll add the missing amount of BTCSmiley

It would really be much better if it would really be showing off on what are the things that would tend to be purchased. Also with that mBTC unit then its not really that confusing but i do agree into the idea on setting it into that casual btc term for people to directly understand but making out some research isnt really hard at all.So this isnt really an issue thought.

Yes, we will make updates documenting the progress like for the last farms here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/failed-donate-building-rice-farms-in-the-philippines-funding-goal-02-btc-5317555
What do you mean with incentives?

In any natural disaster the farmers are the one who pay the maximum loss.

Good job btw. I think this is a nice way to gather enough resources to create something that would create more money and of course for the people who need it and would work for it.
For those who do not have enough for them $400 is a lot of money. First I was a bit confuse too after seeing this thread but then for the whole story I read this topic : https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/failed-donate-building-rice-farms-in-the-philippines-funding-goal-02-btc-5317555
