All the forks on this coin have killed it.
Forks won't kill a coin.
Don't get me wrong, I want this coin to do well.
And you could argue that, but given that this coin has been "going uphill" the entire time, combined with rampant forking just as we're trying to get on an exchange (again), it's not going to instill confidence in anyone.
Miners aren't going to mine if they're not sure of what forks they're on.
Pool ops aren't going to host if there's still wallet and forking issues.
An exchange is going to have the exact same problems.

There's still some deep seated problem with the blockchain, and unless it's fixed really soon, it's going to be the coffin nail; as it were.

Hey, has anyone got a Mac wallet they can share whilst we wait for the official upload.

Cheers  Smiley

here is the mac wallet url i got in IRC a couple days ago - http://pcmerc.com/files/CleanwaterCoin-Qt.dmg

should be 1.7.0.1

i think they were going to update that file on their server over the weekend, but that is the one that i used (and works just fine) for me Smiley

Sorry for the slight delay, I wanted to give Costas the weekend off with his family after working a few weeks straight with us.

Some more awesome news came in a few days ago which is likely related to the couple hiccups right now. While Costas was continuing his audit and trying to clean everything up, he discovered that Cryptowest had been using our nodes for other coins he apparently was working on. See here:

drwx------ 16 root root    4096 Jun  6 00:37 .
drwxr-xr-x 23 root root    4096 May 12 10:08 ..

-rw-r--r--  1 root root 9031897 Jun  6 00:39 cleanwater(home).tgz.filepart
drwx------  4 root root    4096 Jun  6 00:03 .config

drwx------  2 root root    4096 Jun  6 00:02 .ssh
drwxr-xr-x  3 root root    4096 May 21 02:28 .Whitecoin

This really shouldn't come as a surprise anymore, but nonetheless we immediately went in and reset all the nodes which may have caused some syncing problems/forks.

I'll get an update from Costas tonight (in ~8 hours or so) and then we'll get the pool all cleaned up, and get him going on the explorer.

Quick Heads Up:

The doabitofgood.com CleanWaterCoin donor pool server is online and accepting connections:

water.doabitofgood.com:3340

If you want to donate to our #bit4bit/water fund you can use "#bit4bit/water" as the username/miner and a password of "x"

So for cpuminer it would be:

minerd -o stratum+tcp://water.doabitofgood.com:3340 -a scrypt -u #bit4bit/water -p x

Also, feel free to "ADDNODE" us to your config:

addnode=204.246.67.106:9340

Thank you for your continued support of Clean Water Coin!

All the forks on this coin have killed it.

How many forks are there right now? What is the main cause of this forks? And why it keeps repeating?
This should be resolved soon.

For what it's worth...

doabitofgood.com wants to "Screen Save the Planet!" -- and a HUGE part of our message centers on making clean water available to everyone -- in fact when we originally wrote our explainer video script, we were not even aware of CleanWaterCoin's existence!

Here's a sneak peak at the video:

http://vimeo.com/97563800

password: "david"

We hired Chris Rice, the same guy who did the voice overs for both "What is Bitcoin" and "What is Bitcoin Mining" to do our "How Can I Do a Bit of Good" video.

At 01:10 into the video we specifically ask viewers if they "want to make clean water available around the world" !

Every year I personally donate money to Clean Water Action -- do I know for sure who or how they help make it happen?  NFI.

Clean Water Coin in conjunction with the way we vet and track donations helps to bridge that gap.

While we have not formally announced a joint-venture with Clean Water Coin, I can tell you that we are making the investment to support it.

It is now a fully supported coinbase within our system and as of today we have turned up our first pool server and successfully knocked out a few blocks just to verify we are online.

You should absolutely form your own opinion when getting involved with any coinbase based on your own research and values.

My personal opinion is that access to clean water should be a basic human right!  If you have the time and interest I highly recommend reading "Influencer:  The Power to Change Anything" -- in it the authors describe how "positive deviance" has helped the Carter Foundation eradicate Guinea Worm from developing nations.

I can tell you that our strategy is going to be mine and hold -- as we attempt to bring about a "virtuous cycle" in charitable giving whereby one donor/underwriter acquires one non-profit or pro-social causes coins and turns around and donates them back to the same or another cause for someone else to acquire!  We are already doing this with GIVECOIN.

When we can track the exchange rate to a set of coins -- we will have the conditions to bring about one of the first implementations of a "color coin" -- in other words, our Clean Water Coins may one day be the Evian of WATER ;-)

Sincerely,

It really sucks for the folks who continued mining bad forks, or bought bad coins somehow early on. That has happened over the last year for folks new to crypto-coins who were unfortunate enough to buy-in early on coins that later ended up having issues. The open source nature of this "crypto-casino" makes these trades risky as meeting an Italian guy behind a casino in Vegas to buy "Diamonds". Errors in development can lead to large investor losses early on in the coins life when issues become apparent in the product code, as has been the case with this coin.

Luckily, the coin's developer has chosen NOT to just abandon the coin, and thus, the coin continues to hold great potential. Anyone who has been studious and active in the crypto-world for the last 12 months can see the potential for this coin. With comparison examples from other coins currently relevant on crypto market data sites easily available to us, we can see that this coin, using simple math, is destined for the 1000+ sat range. That is excellent for early investors.

Unfortunately, NOBODY is selling less than 59-60 sats right now, so those dream-world prices of less than 40 sats are likely a thing of the past. That means what is on Bittrex right now is what is available. Assuming all wallet issues are fixed and the coin is given the attention it deserves in the crypto world, people buying at 50 sats can likely earn 20X their investment. Good luck getting anybody who owns a substantial amount of these coins to sell to you for 50 sat. I know; I tried all week. I settled for 60 sat instead. I still expect a large return on my investment.

I look forward to waking up and seeing my 500+ and 900+ sat sell orders fulfilled. And guess what? In the end, some kid somewhere is going to get a nice clean glass of drinking water because of the BTC's worth of donation money generated from our interest.

2 months ago, this coin is being traded around 600 satoshi, and it was trading at bittrex at that time. Now we have a good wallet made by one of the best coin dev, a nice marketing strategy, a social outreach program and a good community. What do you think what should be the price for this coin be trading now? Smiley Do not forget that Cleanwatercoin was on rank 1 for 2 consecutive weeks on the Voting List at Mintpal.

Pool has been disabled because our pool and my personal wallet seem to be on different forks again....

Fork-fest

I think there are currently at least 3 forks.  I have 4 wallets, two are on one fork and the other two on a different fork.  And the official pool is on a different fork and it is not paying out or showing any unconfirmed or confirmed coins.

Just sent you the link to the freshly compiled Mac wallet from this morning. We will be uploading all the wallets onto the cleanwatercoin.org server in the morning and then will update the ANN with the correct links.

6/5/14: New Wallets:
Below are the new wallets and source for version 1.7.0.1

WINDOWS  |  MAC  |  LINUX  |  SOURCE

--------------------------

New Code / Wallet Features
1. New Advanced Coin Control
This allows you to control which coins go in and which go out. You will now be able to control your coins so that your older coins keep staking while sending out newer coins to maximize your coin values. We will record a video explaining this feature within the next few days.

2. 0.1% Charity Donation Feature
This was an original feature the coin was going to have but was sidelined in order to not miss our launch date. After a couple months, we finally found the right guy to build this feature for us -- so thank you Costas (mindfox).

3. New Master Node
We now have a new master node set up to avoid those syncing problems in the past.

4. New Donation Feature
Some of you requested the ability to donate to the Charity Wallet straight from your own personal wallet -- so version 1.7.0.1 now gives you that ability. All WATER donated here or through the 0.1% feature will be used to help raise money for our charity water campaign, and to help afford the costs of running servers, paying for media campaigns, and ongoing development initiatives with Costas.

Coming Soon
• New Block Explorer
• WATER Faucet
• Tip Bots

thanks for update the wallet .now goes well  Cheesy

Great to here Wink

There was a lot of buying last week, and as soon as we get Bittrex updated on the latest code -- the wallets will be re-enabled. After that, we are getting to work on:

• New block explorer
• WATER faucet
• Tip bots
• Wrapping up our wallpapers for https://doabitofgood.com/
• Continue on with some of the initial marketing initiatives that we had planned on doing prior to some of the speedbumps
• Looking into some giveaways & co-branding opportunities with small businesses

Once we get everything stable, we will be putting together a more formal marketing and growth plan for everyone to help weigh in on -- both here, and we'd still like to hold weekly chat discussions on IRC for those that can join.

I'm looking forward to that  Wink Keep working hard guys.

Thanks mate!! We are stoked to be on the right track and finally moving in the right direction! Grin

Yuppp, and it works like a charm!  Grin

I think we're going to need new wallets again.

There are new OpenSSL bugs that have been patched today.

http://www.engadget.com/2014/06/05/openssl-bug-man-in-the-middle/

Well, that's lovely.

For everyone else. Did you re-download the blockchain (after backing up your wallet.dat)?
