Never mind Russians in Novorossia... I am more worried about how the Russians in Russia will see Putin. Levada opinion polls show that the majority (over 70%) is for armed help to Novorossia.
I guess it all depends on what Poroshenko does after the 7th.

Russia won't stir the waters much more by recognizing the region. They've got Crimea , that's what they wanted.
It is clear from few tweets in which the rebels (yeah i'm calling them rebels) are demanding help and are desperately seeking aid that Russia is cutting the line.

Kiev says that Lugansk border patrol units have been relocated. They don say how that was managed as the units have been surrounded by the Lugansk People's Army for 2 weeks now. LPA says that no one was relocated anywhere.

This picture is very disturbing.
This is Yevgeniy, a 8-month old kid, who is suffering from cerebral palsy. He is in serious condition and is being treated in the Slavyansk children's hospital. However, a few days ago the hospital was shelled and damaged by the government forces. All the other patients were evacuated, but this kid could not be evacuated sue to his serious condition.
I'm surprised how many Russian spies are on bitcointalk. All they do is spam the forum with Putin's propaganda.
