BTW... the blame game has already started. The DPA is claiming that they shot down the aircraft using the 9K38 Igla. The Ukrainians on the other hand are saying that it was shot down using the 9K333 Verba, a much more advanced anti-aircraft missile, currently possessed only by the Russian Army.

Shooting down technically less-advanced aircraft such as AN-30 using the 9K38 Igla is not a big thing. The AN-30 is not capable of flying very quickly, and it does not have any anti-SAM systems with it.
