Well, I've now got 3 of 5 that aren't working...until I hear back from someone I'm not mining.

Hopefully this gets resolved soon...it seems like they start working, go ZOMBIE, then stop working and won't power up again

Can you try the 'problem' boards one at a time on a separate PC?  (just to avoid the USB port assignment and potential conflicts with other boards/devices).

Another issue that I had is that I saved the cgminer settings (into cgminer.conf), but I was changing the Drillbit board settings through a batch file, so there was a conflict between the saved conf file and the instructions in the batch file.  This resulted in a few cases of ZOMBIE when I restarted cgminer after some drillbit option changes.  Renaming (or deleting) the .conf file solves this.

Good luck

Got my 2 8 Chip Drillbits today and they are up and hashing at 18.5 to 19.4 Gh/s. I am using a fairly cheap power supply so it may be the reason I am not hitting a consistent 20 Gh/s or why the backplane refuse to work. I am pretty happy, great work Barn!

Completely refuse? How cheap is cheap, I got name brand 400+watt power supply for about 50 usd.

If you think its that cheap check out the black friday websites. I'd imagine someones got a supply you'd consider not cheap.

Anyone get this yet. It seemed to happen when I was hovering over it to read the chips.

Yes, I'm getting that on my 3 boards that are running as well.  One of the boards has about 10x the number of HW errors as the other 2.

I figured those are the controlers and the bitfury are under the heat sync.

In response to why the bitfury heatsinks are on the bottom... That's how these chips are packaged. The heat transfer pad is actually on the bottom of the chip, so you connect to it through a transferpad in the PCB. BFL just did it wrong. And you are seeing the bitfury chips. They are not under the heatsink...  Grin

Cheers, never seen that design before. Smiley

Honestly, my hashrate is pretty low on four boards.  Huh I'm using a 300watt powersupply, which should be good enough, yet only getting 58gh/s from four boards. This seems mighty low to me. By my calculations, I should be getting around 70GH/s. Maybe it's my powersupply? Overclocking is a no go as well. I'm setting my clock speed to 40 for my blades, even 42 doesn't work. And it doesn't just error, it plain won't work. I'm directly connected to usb ports, no hubs here. I am also using a masscool 120mm fan blowing down the heatsinks, so no passive cooling here.

Slightly disappointing, but in a fun way. Now I get to troubleshoot something. I've already discovered the cause of my libusb errors (usb3 is no beuno).

Why are the big heatsinks on the opposite side of the PCB? Shouldn't they be directly on the chips?

Well, I've now got 3 of 5 that aren't working...until I hear back from someone I'm not mining.

Hopefully this gets resolved soon...it seems like they start working, go ZOMBIE, then stop working and won't power up again

Have you tried mining with 3 of them and see if they stay stable? Then swapping around which 3 you're using?

I had the zombie issue after a bit as well - it was definitely power. Switched to another psu and rock solid for hours now. Not the best oc'ers yet but waiting until we can do oc settings per board...

I have 3 that light up, 2 that do not and I've tried switching them around on multiple PSU's and in and out of the mini-plane and they will not light up.

The 3 that are lighting up are currently running fine but the other 2 will not light up regardless of whether it's in the mini-plane or plugged in directly.

I tested the ~150 boards I sent, one by one and they were all good... Are you using a hub?

Even if we were using a hub shouldn't it still give a green light and just not hash well? Tell me using a hub with drill bit devices is enough to kill them Huh??

i wasn't using any hubs and i got zombie on 3 out of 4

i am using 650 watt psu and the one that is hashing it is running at 17.9gh and has HW through the roof

If your doing them on a mini plane ...niether. I'd want to look for one with at least 2X6 pin plugs built in(more if your collecting the whole set). I've got a rosewill fortress 550w 80 plus platnum for over the top HTPC build (I'm not putting a graphics card in yet but I want it too be ready for whatever).

A quick run through newegg makes me think

a fractal (since I believe its supposed to be a good brand)

or

corsair (BIG Known name brand)

The 520W Antec have 1 x 6-pin and 1 x 8 (6+2)-pin PCI-E connectors, is that enough?
The mini plane needs 2 x 6-pin PCI-E connectors right?
That's my new alternative though it didn't fix my board not work issue. I have a 430 I and figured I try the 520 just to make sure it wasn't the problem. The 520 though that I have is silver color and doesn't blend in as well in the dark while the 430 was black.

Any chance someone can help me out here?
Getting an insane error rate with the stock settings. That and very low hashrate compared to everyone else by the looks of it.
Got an 82 mm fan aimed at the heatsink going full blast. The heatsink is icy so that's not the issue.

EDIT: Also I tried setting the mv up to 950 to give the chips some more room to breathe, but when I do that two ASICs become unresponsive

No, I am not using a hub and I am using a 750w PSU on 5 boards so that shouldn't be an issue.

Are you using a hub Huh  Is your PSU of sufficient wattage Huh   I know, all dumb questions  Cheesy

I've got one zombie, can't figure out which one.Not shutting down just now to find out either.3 out of 4 ain't bad for now  Cool

Hope we can get an updated firware release/CGminer soon  Wink
