Sounds like we should have shipments to the USA arriving later today. Anyone get a tracking number?

Yes, did anyone actually ask and get their tracking number so that they can report back to the group where their USA bound 8 chip board is? Sorry if I wasn't clear and thanks for the link!

Hi Barntech,

does the UK orders ship from you includes microUSB cables?
Just a bit confused, do I need one for each or one for one mini plane?
Should make my last order from farnell online today.

Thanks!
This question has been answered many times. The mini plane makes all the boards act as one big chain of bitfury chips, therefore you only need one USB cable.

I have one problem when trying to run the Drillbit8 board on the same pc that runs the Drillbit Thumb - can't get 2 separate instances of cgminer to run with separate settings for the 8board and Thumb.  The 1st instance 'captures' both devices and the 2nd instance is left with 'nothing'.  Does anyone know how to convince cgminer to run a single device out of a few similar ones?  (on Win7).  Both are seen by device manager as 'thumb', the only difference being in the detailed properties where the hub/port are listed, but I don't know how to apply this in Cgminer.

This is necessary if you want to run non-stock settings, which are different for each.  If I run them both in 'stock settings' there is no problem (other than the Thumb getting quite modest hashing rate).

Cheers

Probably been covered already but if we've got 4 boards on the way, so an included miniplane as well, do we connect a USB cable to each card or does the miniplane have a single USB port for all 4 connected boards? Do I need to buy a USB cable?

From way earlier in the thread.... You can connect to the first board in the chain when connected to a miniplane or double scroll and the board contacts will handle it... Essentially one large chained miner on all the connected chips. There are no USB connections on the miniplane or double scroll, but when hooked up, you can just use the USB on the 8-board on connector 0.

You also have the option to connect all of the boards separately on their own USB and still use the miniplane and double scroll to just bridge the power.

My preference would be the single connection method for actual running and using the individual connections for debugging/tweaking if it seems like one whole bank of chips/board aren't working.

Unfortunately the CGMiner Drillbit-options are all or nothing so you won't be able to specify settings per board anyway. Unless you plan on running multiple CGMiner instances blocked off to specific boards driver path.  But that's just crazy talk Wink

and more importantly, where are you??
I'm in Sydney.  It's getting warm but not very hot.  I have a small fan that is pointed at the heatsink.

Cheers

If Barntech is this quiet, hopefully it means the team is busy packing away........

are we receiving tracking numbers once they are shipped to  us in the US?

I think bobsag said to PM him if you didn't get one and need one.

Thank you

.

What are those QP1, QP2, and QP3 chips that you've put heatsinks on there? Are they something related to the power system and heatsinks will make for greater stability/greater overclocking ability? I've got some suitable heatsinks laying around, but I'm not sure if I'd be better off putting them on the QPX chips or on the bitfury chips themselves...

Are there any instructions with the Drillbit board, or online somewhere?

Software setup for both windows and linux is covered here: http://drillbitsystem.com/forum/index.php?topic=184.0

Not sure about hardware setup, but I imagine it'll be just like mechano/lego, only better. Grin

Any updates on the Australian delivery of the 8 chip boards?

Not that I can see.
