does anyone know the spec on the voltage regulator on the repaired boards?

Switched from cgminer3.9 to 3.10 and managed to overclock to 52:2:950 with much less hardware errors and no asic timeouts. Now it averages at 21.5gh/s. Temp is about 36°C.
At 53:2:950 the hardware errors are way over 20%...
i see there is also cgm4.0 now in http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/

did a few test and anything with :950 produces asic timeouts
53:2:750   14.4Gh/s
53:2:850   20.25Gh/s HE 1.2%
52:2:850   20.3   HE 1.13%
53:2:750   13.44Gh/s
54:2:850   20.39Gh/s   HE3.9%
55:2:850   13.07Gh/s   HE35%
50:2:950   asic timeout
49:2:950   asic timeout

40:1:850   19.5Gh/s   1.5%   30°C
50:2:950   19.5Gh/s   1.5%   34°C
52:2:950   asic timeout
i also tried your best result
54:2:850   20.0Gh/s   4%   30°C

it would seem that my miner is hardwired to work best at 19.5Gh/s
At 53:2:950 I rarely get some asic timeout messages that eventually disappear.  It runs at about 22.5 GH/sec (reported temp 29-30C).  It has been running like this for long periods of time (cgminer 3.10 on Win7/64).

Cheers
yeah kabopar i used to run at 53:2:950 24Gh/s HE0.3% 32C ambient 35C , now it refuses to running on anything with :950
now best
53:2:850   19.94Gh/s   HE0.88% 24.2C abient27C   this one seems the best less Gh but also less HE

54:2:850   20.39Gh/s   HE4.4%  25.5C ambient27C

Something is probably better than nothing. What mining software are you using?  (I stayed with cgminer 3.10.0 for the drillbit8, as my results with bfgminer were not as good).

Cheers
yeah with cfminer also couldn't get bfgminer to work......

same thing again, well not exactly. total timeout on 53:2:950 or 53:2:850 but works 53:2:850 HW0.83% av 18,9Gh/s . the voltage and the oscillator not resetting?
Was the firmware updated to the latest version?
yup something/12/2013
There were 2 firmware updates in 12/2013, the first one on 11/12/2013 and a later one on 17/12/2013.  You may want to reflash the latest one (I know, it's probably a pain, as you need to do it on a PC with the serial comms driver (like the one used for BFGminer), not the USB driver used by cgminer).

Cheers
yup done eight_firmware_20131217 already. powered down unplug usb, power on usb plugged in.... even went as far as to reload windows drivers, other pc same results. been hashing on 53:2:850 now for 29hours or so (19 -20 Gh/s) tried 53:2:950 but still getting asci timeouts

Correct me if I'm wrong but there is no way the Avalon boards are gonna ROI unless they are like 50 bucks a piece.
It's just outdated technology and the difficulty keeps going up.

They might break even at about USD130 (if you have free electricity).

So what happened to these 16 chip Avalon boards that were supposed to be ready end of Feb?

Anyone heard a word from Barntech on any topic lately?

He has kind of abandoned the community both here and on the drillbit forums for most of the year.

Barntech's post from 26Feb at http://drillbitsystem.com/forum/index.php?topic=285.15 mentions a 3 week delay.

I have 12.  They run at about 220 gh/s.  I have 9 on a rpi and 3 running on pc with cgminer.
I restart them 3-4 times a day.  Sometimes they die completely, but mostly one or two boards goes zombie.  But you have to restart to get them going again.  But this now represents less than 10% of my mining power.  So it is what it is.

I have my own script that watches every 5 seconds for if cgminer crashed, and if so automatically restarts and logs the restart.

The boards need a restart exactly every 36 hours (plus or minus a few hours forget the exact number off the top of my head). What is strange is this restart time is exactly the same down to the minute. Makes me think there is some deterministic memory leak or something else happening...
