Hi,

To all, I'm new here and am now reading about writing for Devtome here:

http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=earn_devcoins_by_writing

I've already read that page before and I'm now going through it again just to be sure that I've got all of the needed info. From that page there are many links to other pages which continue giving advice about writing for Devtome that are recommended to also be read after reading that first intro page. I've already read through some of those pages too and will be going through all of them again and also read through the other ones that I haven't read yet a couple of times too.

I figure that this way I'll be able to get set up for writing better articles faster instead of having to go looking for the answers that are all lined up on those pages one after the other. After I go through all of those pages a couple or more times, than I will start writing some decent articles and hope that they are good enough that a lot of people will enjoy reading them. That's all for now, I'll report back soon.

I love your attitude!! Quality comes from consistency and consistency comes from us all starting on the same page(s).. there must be 1000 questions in this thread about how writers should get started. I think your first article should include your own post as a pointer to all new writers.

What is your writer name on Devtome?

Also, there is a Devtome Writers Award you could consider writing towards as well: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.5720343

Hi, and welcome!

Yep that's the best strategy to go for. Never be afraid to go back and make older articles "better", because when ratings come around they could be given any article (the raters may or may not look at more articles - it's up to them). Also, the way the modifiers work, a writer who is poorly rated and has no page views, will have to write 3 times the number of words of a good, interesting writer just to earn a share. Another tip is that raters don't like unfinished articles. Try and submit complete articles (you can work on them on the site, but don't link them to your invoice page until you're ready to be rated for them), and write the best you possibly can, with the mind that you want to draw readers in.

I have just been added as an admin for ASCMDVCPT listing on cryptostocks.

As promised I have immediately paid out dividends more than 2x what it should have been to clear all the dividends missed.

I am transferring enough DVC into the account to buy back the shares at market value as calculated here https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.5710038

any questions or concerns please raise now

if we need places to spend we can create devcoin funded merchants and pay salaries to run.. this would cause devcoin to rise as people spend bringing in profits for devcoin which are applied to where they are needed by the project.

This is what I just said and you said I was missing the point...

This is not in place and we already know that merchants are the key to money velocity but how is the big question.. Im working on the problem because I invested indevcoin and cause I believe in it and because Im a devcoin developer but mostly because I would increase my equity which is the log term incentive.. those that dont hold wont ever have incentive for the project other than earn and dump.. so there is conflict of interest.. there are no bounties for what I am doing.. so its more of a project direction issue more than sinply writers dumping since they have no choice... I believe if we
go this route writers will have a choice.. but first we need to
create incentive to create merchants.. with the share system this is plenty of incentive.. its a bit more involved than what you said because its not like other coins.. we can leverage the mined coins to do whatever we want as a community and I think we should push in that direction that makes most economic sense while retaining moral and ethical ideology behind the project.

well you can work to get those merchants! Oh wait you dumped for usd and have no incentive.. who should do that? Your missing the point entirely. Weve been down this road 100 times.

Actually I personally haven't dumped anything. I'm still in a hold, acquire, and hold some more. If I'm the one missing the point then why is DVC getting dumped so quickly? I have spoken to some people about getting DVC to USD conversions on some exchanges, give me all the proper information and I would be glad to try to get DVC accepted into merchant areas.

I obviously have incentive to do so because I am paid in DVC and if DVC value is increased then my purchasing power is increased. Why wouldn't I have incentive to assist in this? Of course an increase in value is not the desired endstate because you should be looking for DVC to become the standard for which value is measured.

Hostility...

hey looking at my stats here https://raw.github.com/Unthinkingbit/charity/master/devtome_33.csv

Why does it say images 0? I have 30-50 pics uploaded? Also I haven't been rated yet, so why is my earnings multiplier 0.93? I should've gotten 32 shares for 32,000 words but I see only 30?

Not sure I'm reading this right, the file is very confusing.

I lost 2 shares as well, not sure why but after the words were finalized I had suddenly been counted for 2000 words less than I actually had.

I haven't been here that long, so apologies in advance for any ignorance. If the writers are dumping coins short term, maybe you could come up with a system where you withhold part of the payment and if the writers hang around for a set period of time (maybe 3 months or something) then those coins get released? Or do you think that you are just moving the same problem down the road for a few months?

Of course they're dumping short term, they're writers and they're getting paid and they probably want access to their money. I don't think its a good idea to insinuate that the writers for devtome shouldn't get paid in full, I think it's a terrible idea. A GOOD IDEA would be to make DVC more acceptable to merchants so that rather than dumping the DVC on the market, the writers go spend it into an economy. If you can get a fair conversion out of it it's going to strengthen the coin longterm and give it what all this other nonsense that calls itself money doesn't have, a future.

The problem which is inherent in all currencies is that it has to be converted to USD to be used for anything. That's the point where it has to be stopped. However if there were a site that went straight from DVC to USD that would be more helpful too, since you would be skipping the BTC and going to straight to a dollar valuation. This could help strengthen DVC since it would lend legitimacy rather than having to go through a middleman (BTC). Since DVC wants to actually be legitimate it has to grow its own legs and stand on its own. So merchants and kicking BTC from the valuation, that's all you need short term Cheesy

What do you call a fish with no eyes? A Fsh!
Thanks again,

You have helped to get me onto the right track.

This page http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=earn_devcoins_by_writing has a link to http://dls.21stcenturymoneytalk.org, where you can choose from different types of Devcoin wallets in order to match the right one to your type of PC system.

I'll also go to the site you mentioned http://devcoin.org and read up on what they have to say on this same subject. How to install and set up the right Devcoin wallet for the type of PC system we have.

What OS do you have?

Thanks again,

You have helped to get me onto the right track.

This page which is about how to get set up for earning devcoins by writing, has many links that you can choose from for different types of Devcoin wallets, in order to match the right one to your type of PC system.

I'll also go to the site you mentioned http://devcoin.org and read up on what they have to say on this same subject. How to install and set up the right Devcoin wallet for the type of PC system that we have.

update: I was able to download the Devcoin wallet from either of these two pages, Dvc wallet from Devtome and Dvc wallet from Devcoin home page, and install it on my pc. After the initial start up, which involves the Dvc wallet catching up to the current Devcoin transaction block and the latest Dvc receiver files status. Thereafter the Dvc wallet runs in the background. If you look on the bottom right side it lists which Dvc block it is currently caught up with.

On the main display the Dvc wallet shows your main Dvc receiving address, which is what you will use in your Devtome account to receive Devcoins. The Dvc wallet also has many settings to choose from, such as creating and listing as many new Dvc receiving or new Dvc sending addresses as you need or want to. You can send Dvc to anyone elses Dvc address from your Dvc wallet and you can receive Dvc from anyone elses Dvc wallet to any of your Dvc addresses listed in your Dvc wallet.

There is also a setting that lets you put labels onto any of your Dvc addresses in order to keep track of what any of your Dvc addresses sent or received Dvc is related to. Such as who sent Dvc to you or who you sent Dvc to, what you or they were paying the Dvc for, dates, etc.

Thank you for that advice,

There seems to also be alot more pages to read on that subject, so I'll keep busy doing that.

http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=how_to_get_setup_earning_devcoins_by_writing

What I still need help with is how to set up a Devcoin wallet. Which one should I use and how do I set it up the right way. Is that the same as a Bitcoin wallet except for the type of coins it works with ?

If I am not mistaken, this is the link to the official site and the official wallet.  There are instructions on the site, but if you need help, I am not your man...lol.  I am not very technical, just a writer.

Thank you for that advice,

There seems to also be alot more pages to read on that subject, earn devcoins by writing, so I'll keep busy doing that, such as: How to get set up earning devcoins by writing.

There are also many other helpful articles related to this same subject and topic that are linked to from those two pages mentioned above and which they recommend going on to and reading those pages too, before fully writing, finally completing, and submitting any articles to Devtome.

So I plan on keeping busy reading those recommended pages first, before fully writing and submitting any articles to Devtome. This way I'll be able to do it right the first time and not have to be told to go back over my articles in order to correct and fix any kinds of issues, such as formatting, etc.

What I still need help with is how to set up a Devcoin wallet on my pc. Is that the same as a Bitcoin wallet except for the type of coins it works with or and can any other type of altcoins be used with the Dvc wallet ? The reason I ask is because the only other kind of alt coin wallet that I have is a Bitcoin wallet and will be looking for an altcoin wallet that does work with some of the other popular alt coins as well, such as Lite coin and others.

The next question about that is, are there different kinds of Devcoin wallets for different types of pc systems ? If yes which one should I download and use for my type of pc system, which is a Windows OS, and how do I set it up the right way ? Does the Devcoin wallet have to run all the time or do we just open it when we need or want to use it ?
