I'll go ahead and step in to answer this.

Normally this round should have ended at block 101,300 (and it was planned to be calculated out on Monday). Due to something that came up, however, it has been extended slightly (not by a block count, though) to today. This wasn't the intention originally and there is no official time for when it will be calculated out today.

Hope that helps!

Just as an FYI, when this kind of thing comes up, it would be good to communicate it sooner rather than later.  For example, I have an essay half written, but I saw the count hit 101,300, so I figured I'd missed the end of the round, I have a super busy week, and now there's about another month to get it done for the next round.  However, if I'd known that there was an extension, I probably would have pushed to get it finished and published, maybe stayed up a bit later last night, etc.  Now, I could possibly write it but I have other things to do.

This is not intended to be a complaint at all.  I'm doing just fine for round 26, just wanted to mention it as something to consider.  No matter what is going on with when the round ends, especially if it changes, it would be really awesome to just have someone in the know post it here.  Then we all have complete information with which to prioritize how we will spend our day (will it be in writing just one more 1000 words to earn an extra share?  or will it be in doing something else?).

Vlad, I have a really full and busy life so I totally understand that it's hard to make time to write, and it's hard to make time to write consistently.  Those constraints definitely interfered with it for me this round, as in I didn't write as much as I'd hoped I would.  Still, it's fairly predictable that it takes about 10 minutes for one block to be opened, so a 4,000 block round will take a month.  Surely, with a little bit of planning ahead, you can set aside some time to write and publish a few thousand words in the next month.  All it takes is a little bit of time on a regular basis--even if it's only 15 minutes a day.  Just sit down and write.  Maybe you only get 250 words written, but then do that four times and you have one share.  I have had times where I started to write something, then got interrupted (4 children at home including a new baby will do that! + I have a part time job I absolutely love), and couldn't come back to it for another day or so.  But still, even having started an essay (even if it was only 100 words) made it easier for me to get back into it at the next opportunity.  And at the end of the round, maybe I didn't get as many shares as I'd have hoped for, but as least I do get some shares because I at least wrote something even if it wasn't as much as I'd have liked.

I mention this as a way to encourage you to just start.  Twice now I've seen a post from you lamenting the fact that you were too busy to write this round and lamenting the fact that the close of the round took you by surprise.  Maybe you don't have enough time to write as much as you'd like to write.  However, I'm sure you have some time to write a little bit and then a little bit more, and at least by the end of next round (when it starts getting paid out), you'll have something coming in, even if it's a small amount, but at least it will be something.

The bottom line is that the way to keep those generated earnings coming in isn't so much to write a lot in huge blocks of time, but to write consistently.  If you have two hours a day to devote to this, that's great, but most of us don't, so we need to set smaller goals like fifteen minutes several times a week, or in my case, squeeze it in when I can sometimes in five minute segments.  But as long as you keep at it and don't give up, you should be getting something.

This writing for the Devtome is such an incredible opportunity that it would be totally frustrating to not take advantage of it.  Just remember:  while a lot is awesome, a little bit is still way better than nothing.  So start with setting a goal, carving out a time and then sticking with it to get a little; then build on that Smiley  And whatever you do, don't give up!  Celebrate the small successes.

I'm looking forward to you posting here that hey, you got five shares this round and you're so happy about that.  Then next time it will be 10.  Go for it!

That's pretty good.  Do you remember round 26 ending at 101,300 as well?  Maybe I have a few days left to write but I don't think so, I think I missed the whole round.  It felt awesome to wake up everyday and see something extra in my account.

At first I wanted to get paid all at once but this daily paycheck thing is awesome.  It keeps you in check when it comes to buying anything while making everyday a payday.  Very nice concept.  Thanks for the info.

Is the current round, (round 25?) over at 101,300 which means it's now too late to submit anything?  That's the number I remember but I'm not sure if it's correct.  Been way too busy this month so I'm hoping I'm not too late.  TIA.

101,300 is what I remember.  Why not submit some essays now and then you'll get credited in round 27?

Oh, and the current round is 26.

Man, that's what I thought.  I didn't have time to write a single essay this round.  Now I have to wait almost 2 months for a payout - it was nice getting something everyday - even a small amount.   That Arizona trip for my brother came out of nowhere - that's what I get for waiting until the last second.

I do hope to write for round 27 - with my luck round 26 will have a big payout, lol.

At least I have some devcoins set aside in case the price does rebound.

Worked for me this time Smiley

OK. I think I've fixed it. It should also be auto confirmed instead of admin approval.

I tried twice to register.  Both times I got this error message:

"Please try again. If you come back to this error screen, report the error to an administrator."

Hopefully it's an easy fix Smiley

More on the forum:

forum.postfiat.com is what I've run with. I can do the same for any domain name if needed.

In addition to some minor tweaks, I've added the following customizations:

1. It uses Simple Machines Forum.
2. Integrated ban list.
3. PM instant notifications on the main topic bar.
4. A referral system.
5. A staff page.
6. Social buttons for reposting content.
7. A moderator control panel.
8. Custom tags for posts.
9. Translation support at login.
10. Posts allow attachments up to 192k in size.
11. Email to external addresses from within site. This option can be locked to admin use only.
12. Users can customize their themes. I've loaded about five of them.
13. Forum posts can only be viewed by registered users.
14. Keycaptcha added to registration page.
15. Ban on delete of user accounts.
16. Post tags now include option to link to other members.

One person has already been approved. I hope you find it a worthy site. And again, I am completely open to letting any current Devtome admins have full access to the site. Improve as you see fit. Just make sure to PM me and tell me your username name here and there so I know which permissions to grant.

I am not sure if I've been able to solve the email issue. I'm having problems with the SMTP settings.

Hmm.

Anyway, if anyone wants to try the site, it's www.postfiat.com/forum. It's a SMF. There are just loads and loads of options for the admins and it looks like there are multiple ways to protect against spam and to create.

***UPDATE***

Got it. Email from the forum works! Woohoo!

smeagol, php.

***UPDATE 2***

This is going to sound ridiculous, but I can NOT figure out how to change the homepage from the root to a subfolder. Right now, it's http://forum.postfiat.com or www.postfiat.com/forum. Grr. I could forward the domain to that subfolder, but that seems over-complicated. I'm missing something minor.

Funny you mentioned that. I'm just now adding SMF in hopes of making the bounty. If anyone else is working it, please tell me. No worries, I just don't want to duplicate effort.

SMF allows manual registration and blocking of forum views. It has the ability to send SMTP also with a MOD.

What language are SMF scripts written in?

The troll blocking bounty:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.2777759

has been updated. It is now required that the forum be a Simple Machines Forum (SMF). This is so that if different people develop different parts of the forum bounty, it will all work together. Also, moderation would be the default and the Original Poster would have to deselect the moderation checkbox to have an open forum.

On the other hand, there is now another option to ban trolls. The trolls can now also be banned if they are on the Original Poster's ignore list, instead of requiring a troll field.

Last I checked no open source exchange code was fit for actual use.

They all seemed to have given away the code before fixing all kinds of ghastly problems then not released a fixed version.

Dealing with a hot wallet is a really nasty problem and making a website secure is a lot harder than it sounds.

(Kind of why i use Open Transactions instead of even considering/trying anything web based at all.)

CryptoTalk.Org - Get Paid for every Post!
Cyclos can do payment processing too for fiat and made up currencies that one works with in a way similar to fiat, that is, what is missing is automation that accepts cryptocoins and sends out cryptocoins.

Basically such apps deal in balances, it doesn't matter whether they are balances of made up stuff or of fiat except if you want to send to or take from the fiat banks bank wires etc.

They are like alertpay, paypal, egold and so on.

So I guess maybe the missing elements are the parts where people deposit coins and withdraw coins. The deposits could be done using individual shop type shopping carts, just sell people amounts of deposit. The withdrawals maybe would be new.

Then when someone wants to buy something somewhere if they have no balance yet they can use the deposit system to buy a balance then use that balance to buy whatever, though that breaks into two steps what things like bitpay do as a single step.

I suspect the single step will be more in demand.

-MarkM-

Deposits and withdrawals are handled in crypto currency exchange code - and open source code exists in this area. See

http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/1447/is-there-an-open-source-bitcoin-exchange

So in theory, it should be possible to splice the deposit/withdrawal elements of the currency exchange code with the open source fiat payment processor code to make a crypto-currency payment processor, right?

Also, I've been having a bit of a writer's block.  Any interesting topics to write about?

Not sure about interesting, but on the Blockchain Based Cryptocurrencies page
http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=blockchain_based_cryptocurrencies

there are several cryptocurrencies listed which don't have write ups yet. Cryptocurrency pages are the most popular on devtome, so if you write about them they'll probably be popular, even if the coin in question is dead.

Thanks!  Grin

In fact a lot of new categories to be made, hope that more and more writers use their expertize and create more pages on the site.  Cheers
