Ok, I just want to mine. I was oblivious to the changes having not been watching the blogs not paying a lot of attention to the forum etc... I just set up my miner pointed it to eligius and forgot about it knowing that the shares I earn would be paid to my wallet when my thresholds were met. I just noticed all of this now since I had to rebuild my wallet and came on to figure out if all payouts had shown up.

I just want to know My miner has still been churning away happily turning in shares have those shares gone into the new system then or have they been wasted mining power?

Is there new addresses I need to point my miner to or are they still good where they are? Is there a new site to go to monitor my progress? Please let me know

T.

Thanks for the update.  I can relate.  Sometimes rewriting is vanity work, and sometimes the original authors were unclear on the concept.  Having a test framework is 80% of the battle - so you are in good shape.

Greetings,

So, I have been working on getting everything up and running, however I've run into some complications with the custom database that was written to accommodate the true PPLNS portion of the new system.  When running in shadow mode against the CPPSRB data things seemed to work fine, however after allowing it direct processing of the shares (with the original database as a secondary system) I was running into discrepancies I couldn't account for when utilizing the data.  I've spent the majority of my time attempting to track down and correct the cause of these errors.  As it turns out there is a fundamental error in one of the libraries I've used in the new system which causes some seemingly random errors when accessing data in a particular way.  Further, it looks like I probably won't be able to correct it easily.

That said, it looks like it's going to be simpler to just re-write this library.  It would end up being one more tailored to this use case in the end anyway, so it's not a total waste of time.  However it will take me at least a few days to write and test the replacement.  Fortunately there is plenty of data to work with for Eligius-Hu already, so testing should go smoothly.  I've already gotten test code for the system for validation, which does raw/slow processing of the data to come up with what would be expected data, so the hard part of validation is done.  Getting the new system to be able to do all of this on-the-fly in real time for up-to-the-second coinbase payouts is the trick... something which no other pool actually does, really.  (Except P2Pool, but with *far* less data)

As much as I probably shouldn't put a time frame on this, I expect to have a catch up payout for Eligius-Hu done before the end of the weekend, and basic stats for the new system online shortly after.  Assuming all goes well with that I will roll out the full API for the new system and start adding on to the front end from there.

I'll note that no shares are lost and all work submitted will be rewarded under the new reward system as it should be.  Eligius has multiple core databases, and if your miner is told that a share is accepted then it is recorded safely.  In an absolute worst case catastrophic failure (something like the whole main data center exploding or something) only about a second worth of work would be lost.  So, rest assured your work is being counted.

My apologies for the delays here.  I've been unexpectedly busy with other matters, however I've been making it a point to put in as much time towards Eligius as possible regardless of other obligations.  After the catch up payout and basic stats are online I definitely am going to take a well needed day or so off from all coding work in an effort to give my brain a short break.

Thanks to everyone!

This is 5 blocks since the new platform now, I think.  I know life is busy but I was just wondering how things were going with the new stats and the payouts for these blocks.  Not a shot, just pure curiosity.... family and the real job take priority in life.

Thanks for all the hard work on Eligius-Ra in the past and for the payout before the changeover to Eligius-Hu wizkid. All the new changes look interesting and I'm excited to see all the new things being updated and implemented, including the new website and stats pages.

Regarding this question bblboy54 asked the other day, which is the best address if we'd like to drop something in the tip jar in support?
Wk, would you prefer donations being sent to your tip address here or to the 1Stats address listed on the old stats page?  I don't have much but do want to thank you for your hard work.

Queue the thread replies of 'You haven't paid me,  you haven't paid me' and 'Your gonna run away with the btc'

One day they will learn to read back a few pages, to find out why and then hopefully cotton on that everything in the world is not instant.

Hah... yea....  these people need their 0.010 BTC to feed their families  Tongue

So in a few words we are now getting shares normally when we point our miners to stratum.mining.eligius.st:3334 but we can't see our stats yet?

Correct.  Shares are being counted and processed.  The old stats just don't work with the new system fully.  Pool hash rate should be roughly correct as I'm still passing shares to the old stats, but that's about it. The reward portions of the old stats are incorrect for sure.

Would it not of been better to get the infrastructure ready before turning off the old site?

Certainly, except the old site is incompatible with the new reward system, and the new site is taking a substantial amount of effort to complete.  It wouldn't be fair to miners to continue to mine under the old system when the new system back end was mostly ready to go.

Without stats on the current pool it's hard to know what the hashrate of this pool is any more, and the opening post value looks incredibly out of date. Any chance of updating it to reflect the real hashrate? People have been asking me as moderator to edit it but I don't feel that's my responsibility.

I'll be closing this thread and starting a new one as soon as the new stats are online, so I don't think leaving it for archive purposes with whatever headers are there will matter.

On that note, since there's no escaping Murphy's Law at times, shortly after my big announcement for the pool I got shoved into completing some unrelated work on a short term contract that has been taking up some time that I had planned on dedicating to the Eligius upgrades.  Had I known this I would have adjusted my completion time estimates accordingly.  It was my intention to have, at the very least, usable stats online by this time.  However I haven't been able to dedicate sufficient time towards making that happen and there is still a significant amount of work to complete before the new stats are publicly functional.  I'm still hard at work on getting things completed, but I am significantly behind where I would have liked to be by this time.  I am putting in extra work hours to compensate slightly for the lost time, and have worked all this weekend as well.  But there aren't enough hours in a day it seems.  Plus my wife will probably kill me if I spend so much more time at my desk every day for much longer.

Edit: Hmm... my kano ban script actually worked this time because I actually got an email notification about the thread update (I rarely get them these days).  Completely forgot about it.  Anyway, looks like it deleted a post about him complaining/trolling about the first post in the thread.  To be clear, I'm not changing it until I open a new thread.  End of discussion.  --- Edit again:  I had disabled the script just now, but then manually deleted a complete troll post from kano immediately after. *sigh* Don't you have anything better to do than to waste my time?

Also keep in mind that this is a pretty new concept and it will evolve as things progress.

Eligius-Ra to Eligius-Hu Transition

Greetings Eligius Miners,
...

TL;DR Version:  Eligius-Ra (CPPSRB) has been discontinued and a final payout made.  Eligius-Hu is online (new reward system based on pure PPLNS wo/shifts) and all mining is towards this system now.  New web-based features (stats, share market) launching over the next week.

Great work, wk!   Smiley Grin Cheesy  Cool

So if my bitminers can't mine anything from the current pool (It stopped dead in October), how do I switch to this new system?

As mentioned, the old stats pages are wrong.  Everyone is already on the new system.

I'm still working on getting everything up and running on the backend for the new stats.  Database crunching is going a bit slower than anticipated, but things are moving along.  Hoping to have the front end styling done soon (have a friend assisting) as well so things look better than anything I could come up with on my own.  Worst case I can still launch them with my temporary styling.

But overall, things are moving along. Smiley
have ? if mining before ra was taken offline the transition to hu would seems less  my rig continues on normally, also I did not get any payout from the last block mined under Hu is that forthcoming.

The transition was seamless.  There should have been no perceivable downtime.

I'm going to manually pay out for the Hu block as soon as I get the stats online.
Great Thanks
