Why? Freewallet is still on the run.

It is not a complete scam wallet but a kind of shady wallet to be used. People downloaded this wallet when playstore recommended people to download that wallet at the time of the 2017 -18 bull run and by that time only people lost so much money due to their KYC policies or something like that.

This is very bad for them🤣 Now I think no one will use this app. maybe Elon used this wallet and didnt like what he experienced in the app🤣
Of course, only a newbie will want to use free wallet, the app sucks and the teams too are untrusty, they know what they are doing that's why they don't want to give people their private keys, I've lost some Dogecoin to this team and they failed to help me out, not your keys not your coins

I thought this app wallet is no longer used because of the flags it possess years ago. Surprised that elon used it for storing large coins, he must find a crypto nerd that knows how and where to store large funds.

I store all my coins with Freewallet. I'd be the first to know if anything happens with them.

If even Elon Musk himself tells you to not use custodial wallets, most especially FreeWallet, you know it's a bad wallet.

I have seen this from years back and has no plan of losing my funds, Freewallet has been accused more than what other same business had so Lets not be fool to even using this.

there are Many wallets that we can use even custodial or not but those who had been vouched and proves to be legit.

It's a kind of humiliation if the richest man on Earth tells your app sucks. It's somehow a publicity for them but that's a negative publicity although it's still free publicity for them.

Though the "all publicity is good publicity" might apply here, I'd like to take the optimistic stance and like to think that he has followers that are actual users of FreeWallet, and that they're now ex-users. It's just so bad that even though using an exchange as a wallet isn't a good idea, I'd prefer Coinbase 10x over FreeWallet.
That seems to be it and I agree that I would choose over a reputable exchange than it. Although honestly, I have never used it nor tried to deposit any crypto on that wallet. I've just taken a look at Free wallet's twitter handle and they were overwhelmed by messages.

They have also replied to Elon's address.

Freewallet works like an online web wallet where the team manages your keys for you, Ive tried to discuss this with the team but it seems like they don't want to give people the full freedom over their assets, this is why freewallet isn't doing well today, it's an old crypto wallet that might be great and successful today

While I don't like online wallets, I somewhat see a small usecase for them; pretty much for very small amounts of money and or for people who are incapable of securing their wallets for themselves(older demographic). What's weird is, why the heck would they require AML/KYC? It's totally unnecessary.

He stated the obvious truth and that is just it, and it baffles me that there are people still using FreeWallet, because for them to still be in existence till now means they still have users patronising them. So, I totally agree with Elon Musk, that any wallet, no matter how Innovative or friendly it is, that doesn't give users the ability to own their private keys, such wallet should not be used. And owing to the fact this response is coming from Elon Musk wherein there are many followers who are crypto related, he has just succeeded in educating a lot of people on the need to be careful of FreeWallet as well as going for other wallets which can allow them own their private keys.

simple response to tweet and it matters. now, freewallet has just lost some of its users. lol but yes, thats actually good. people need to know the truth, dont wait for someone to tell you that theres something wrong with the service.
freewallet should take it as a challenge and improve their services. that is, if they are up to the challenge.

Thats really some serious degradation of Freewallet specially Elon had make out some words that their app sucks, basing off on how many follower he has
and when it comes to popularity then those words would surely be a serious punch into their service.
If we do make up some search about issues about Freewallet then heres some few of them;

You don't need to dig deep or search all over the internet. Just open the link to the Bitcoin profile of @Freewallet that you have provided in the opening post. In the "trust" section you have a long list of negative feedbacks with links to scam accusations.

Here is direct link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=1177176

I have not dealt with them, but if that is what the community thinks about them, I have no doubt that Musk has done a great job responding to them this way.

We must admit that Elon quite quickly got familiar with the details of cryptocurrencies. It looks like he's slowly becoming the world's foremost evangelist. I think that thanks to him, cryptocurrencies will be in the mainstream faster than we all so far thought.

FreeWallet have been scamming people for many years and yet they still are out there in the wild, still trapping people. It's just a shame thst they most of the time pop up as the first suggestion by Play Store, even after so many complaints..

Well they just got the worst exposure that they would ever have wanted from a high profile celebrity, so this might just be the end of them. Knowing scammers like this, they will just create a new wallet with more or less the same code, with another name and just continue like normal. (That is just how these people operate)  Roll Eyes

People must realize that Elon Musk is an expert in payment systems, because he sold his software (company) to PayPal and look where they are now.  Wink

I think Elon Musk might even pay some developers to create his own wallet for the possible "use" of Bitcoin as a payment option with Tesla in the future.  Wink
