Get the 1.1.5 wallet and let it run for a day or 2. It will sync. If not, and you used an older wallet, you better delete the AppData\Roaming\Ember folder under your user account, but save the wallet.dat file (!). That includes your private key and all coins you own.

Just wanna get the wallet syncing that's all. Don't really care about staking to be honest. So exactly how can I get the wallet to sync with active connections? Or is this not currently possible?

I believe the issue will be fixed sooner or later. My understanding is that it is a broken coin where developers disappeared.... It has since been revived and picked up by a new development team that has created a roadmap to fix it and regrow it...
