Participating in forums and accepting the rules given is what the members do. If you do not accept the rules then I think we should leave the forum. I will stay and continue to try to get a merit point from my posts and comments on the forum.

I'm glad that I already have some merit before this announcement. If this restriction will help to enhance our community I will support it.

On the side note anyone else feels like this in the announcement "theymos = thanos?"  Grin

Just 1 merit is needed? Honestly, I was expecting it to be higher. Maybe 4 or 5. I bet it won't take time for those who got demoted to rank up again considering most of those bounty reporting Jr. members (who recently got demoted) has a higher ranked account that could easily send bunch of merits to his/her alts.

Dont be so selfish dude.. Getting 1 merit now ia so hard.

Now this is good though a lot of jr members were affected even the one's who are not doing garbage posting. Hope this will be a lesson to all of us that we need to learn in this forum and not make it worst. I think they should make it at least 5 merits to eliminate the buying of merits and passing merits using alt account.

very much bouty need jr member . and difficult to have a metrit i have 238 activity but not get metrit . today i become newbie verry sad i think better if need 200 activity to become jr. even 5p i can post 1 that meaning i only can work 20 bouty for a day before i can made 100 . what can i do now give up a dream become a bouty man find a other work ?

This post sums up just how much a change like this was needed. We have several users who post thousands of messages that add little to the forum. They are almost like zombies copying and pasting texts into mega topics.

This is more harmful than beneficial to the forum. This is was a simple yet great change.

The sophisticated traders who learned the ebbs and the flows of the bitcoin market also have better and better infrastructure to use and even more complex markets surrounding the asset class so it remains with the realm of the possible that things could swing again.

I was really happy after seeing this new rule, because i always see those thread talking about how to eliminate spammers and shitposter. But then I realize I am one of them, I am one of those who get demoted. Then it makes me sad for I thought I can finally join campaigns. But isnt it unfair for newbies? Because the higher ranks or the merit sources give less focus to newbies. We have overflowing threads because of the new rule and most of them is begging for merits, some who has large number of post but still didnt get merit inspite of having quality post.

For me we have to accept the new rules of bitcointalk and theymos because they are just doing this for us also to have a better future in bitcointalk. Im demoted to newbie but im still thankful for what i have earn from bounties. For all who have been demoted it is not too late for all of you guys to give up just make good quality post maybe someday someone will give you merit. Wink

I full heartedly agree with this decision. I think it will likely boost the average quality of content in posting. The Copper Membership is a good idea for anyone wishing to post pictures or keep their current posts alive as some of these posts may be important to businesses etc. However with the decision to implement stricter signature guidelines etc. I do think that we will see a lot less two or three word posts that have nothing to do with the project. Im excited to see how this affects the forums, I'm looking forward to more actual conversation!

I'm not sure if this change will increase real conversations since people can still make posts without merit but i think there will be an increased incentive for users to create that one "good" post. I'm guessing there will be a lot less spam though because this will be huge demotivator for airdrop/bounty hunters since they won't be able to promote projects in their personal text or signatures without earning merits or buying a copper membership. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out and perhaps one day even i can earn back my Jr. Member ranking. 🤞

Oh! Theymos, is it April 1st already?  Grin

These changes have been in discussions for a very long time now. I assume you haven't been a part of them since you think it can be a joke, but in reality, the forum has become a joke for the last couple of years because of the vast majority of spambeasts who are right now busy whining and crying by creating useless and repetitive threads in Meta just because they have been demoted and would require Merit to get their rank again and be able to wear signatures so that they can start their bounty business again.

In a few weeks from now, we are surely going to see a very large amount of spammers leaving the forum because they won't be able to do what they have been here for, and that would be a very pleasing time for a lot of us. I know, that some of them might bypass this assuming they might have other accounts to fill up the need of their lower rank accounts, but most of them will surely get tired of trying and run away, because I don't really think they would be able to earn any Merits since all they have been doing was posting crap and hunting bounties, none of which must have given them any knowledge at all which is what's required to be constructive.

It would be better to delete the accounts that reach 6 months without a merit. Make the wall thicker to prevent spamming.

This comment will not make you a legend. People are here, because of bounty hunting's. So lots of them are posting only by their weekly reports.
Oh, dude. Sorry if that comment slaps you.

People are here, because of bounty hunting's
That's why spamming is rampant.

I really supported this new improvement though it affected me also because i was demoted to newbies, i have always try to make all my post constructive but no one has ever try to give me merit and its against the forum to beg for smerit and i believe this is just like a punishment to those who are actually serious. Will continue to strive and improve on my research so i could be of help to others.

😂😂😂...And see how they are desperately praising this initiative like they REALLY like the idea.  Guys for Christ sake leave this thread after reading the information and stop coaxing us with those comments of yours because it ain't gonna work.
Visit the other discussion boards and make good posts over there and we will give you merit if you deserve it and stop wasting your time here!

Today there are a lot of surprises, plus there are new rules in this forum, all of this will make us smarter in replying to comments in this forum, but I'm sorry if all the posts I did were not weighty but I learned to enjoy life in this forum.

As a member of this forum, of course we have to thank the owners that with this forum we all get a lot of knowledge and information and now this forum really has premium value and even more than VIP because it is increasingly difficult for us to get meaningful awards when we post.
And we as beginners of course do not continue to complain because life will continue to run and more obstacles will become more difficult and if we do not prepare ourselves from now on we will be difficult to pass, hopefully this new regulation can improve the quality of the forum.

Greetings beginners for a bright future.

A very good initiative from the team. I might be a victim for the ongoing demotion but that does not preveent  me from giving credit to the team since I realize how beneficial  the new initiative regarding the requirement for hitting a jr. member. I think it is for best of the forum and its members. This is atleast to scrutinize all spammers from the forum. Long Live theymos !! Long Live bitcointalk forum!!!

Interested to see how this turns out in practice. The theory may sound good, but I can see how this could backfire, since now having an account with only 1 merit is already a desirable thing. Desirable things create incentives to get as many of it as possible. In this case, there will be an incentive to own 1 merit accounts to sell them to newbies that want to start getting some satoshis with bounties right away, so I can see a market for single merit points developing.

It's probably better than what we have now tho, since at the end of the day newbies will either have to pay for the account or get the 1 merit point themselves, only time will tell how the situation looks like after this change.

Who are we to raise concerns, in fact all these reforms are good, its for our own good and again for the sustainability of the forum. Check some negative practices such as multiple account holders and many others. My only worry is the timeliness of this new reform. I just saw someone with over 200 post who joined the forum early this year. Probably he might be in a bounty program with some about to end soon. I think this could have been done more appropriately with no hurts with enough consensus. What does the Future hold for Jr. Members?
