Well in as much as I am among those who got affected by this new development, I still think it is the right move to put this forum back to where it was before. Those days I remember all I see here is more of quality post than people just post to get reward just because they are participating in one ICO Bounty campaign or the other. Yes! This is the right move and I am so happy about it. So before you post you can then think of how it will affect the user reading your post and how relevant it is in the Crypto Space. Thanks once again for this and good luck to that who already had Merits before the sudden change.

But couldn't there have been some form of notification or a heads-up of some sort? It seems as though this was just sprung up on us.  Or is it just me?

What would you have done differently to prepare for the change, I wonder?

Is this been decided with satoshi as well? Does this none with monopolizing the forum? By the way getting an advertisement of the copper membership sounds lame.

Great decision! Let's make the articles on BCT great (again).
I really hope this has a positive impact and results in less spam.

Funny how when merit was first introduced who was legendary remained legendary.
But now Jr. Members downgrade to Newbie.
Fair.  Roll Eyes

Its not about fairness. Thats right.

But the spam problem is not caused by legendary members. Sure there are legendary spammers. But the amount compared to the lower rank members is tiny.

This is against the abuse of spamming to get paid.

And it may have hit a lot of good posters. But as long as the merit sources do their job this can be solved.

I was demoted but I'm not worried about it. I am also a bounty hunter but that is only a small part. The important thing for me to come to this forum is to understand the experiences of the previous ones, to hear them talk about the valuable information about Bitcoin. Application and how it works for the future. Because the world is now a time of technology and I can not stay forever after people are ahead.
I am very happy when I am a small part of this forum, there are many things I need to learn from the forum.

I'm also a demoted mate, but I am not worried about what happened to today that my rank goes back to newbie instead I make it a big challenge to myself to improve the quality of my post in this forum to get merit.

Although I was a little disappointed with this rule, but indeed this decision has been planned for a long time, in my opinion this is a pretty good rule because with this it is not arbitrary ranks that can join the signature campaign, I agree even though it is hard to say it.

I gave up trying to earn merits. Took me 1 full day of work to make a very nice guide and i didn't received not even 1 thanks. a thanks! not a merit. a thanks!

I saw that someone gave you some merit at the end so your post was good, unfortunately you posted in a section of the forum with little visibility where most of the people in the forum don't ever read for obvious reasons, gambling is not seen well by many people.

Yes unbelievable!  Grin Maybe you're right about the section visibility, i will try to be useful in other sections too!
To all people who got downgraded today, do your really best and you will find a kind soul that will give you 1 merit.
There is unlimited knowledge you can share!

Thanks for that, i think i learnt from what you have just said but believe not everyone are what you think and will try to improve as you have said
Should i just say am finished or not?
That's up to you.  Whining about your circumstances probably won't do much good if people are being prudent with their sMerits.

I took a look at your post history and it's full of garbage one-line posts, which are typical of bounty spammers.  Nothing you write adds anything to the threads you posted in--those posts are generic "rah rah bitcoin" posts, and they don't stand out from all the other similar posts.

Just FYI, a meritocracy is not supposed to reward people based on their hardships, poverty, or a person's estimations of how good they're doing.  A meritocracy rewards talent and performance.  Sadly, most members who are here for bounties don't have any talent in writing and basically have very little to say.

I think this rule will be very wise if the person who can give merit is a moderator.
No. No. No.

I get it that people post a lot of spam posts in some topics and I definitely agree that something has to be done to keep a certain quality of the forum but I don't know... Shouldn't the administrator(s)/mod(s) rather delete entire topic that is considered inappropriate instead of just removing posts and banning users?
Well at the current condition, that obviously won't leave any effect at all. Hundreds or sometimes thousands of posts are already deleted every day but that still don't make any change, even after the merit system is implemented.

Yeah, I can see that. It's not all that strange on a forum with almost 2.5 mil members and close to 46 mil posts. It's just my opinion that it would make more sense to delete an entire topic (and maybe warn topic starter / explain why topic got deleted) than to go through thousands of posts, removing them one by one and banning users.

Honestly, the change is a joke. That won't stop the spam anyway, as long as the spammers can buy copper membership, have a signature and can continue.
The change only means that the spammers have to pay a small amount to theymos before. Afterwards they can continue as before.
Without copper membership or if they still have no signature, the change would really do something, but so somehow not.
Only i see that? What's your opinion about this?
At least it's better than nothing. Having to pay a small amount or earn 1 merit might seem easy for you, but it will be a hard task for spammers with, say, 10 accounts or something.

It's not that easy for me either. Besides, I'm having a hard time handling a single account, much less having say like 10 of them or something...  Grin

Hello,guys!
Good news  Smiley
You're doing the right thing. After all, now a lot of scams and spam, as well as those who create multiple accounts, and then just earns on it by selling them. Could you tell me, please, that need to do to gain merit?
How to be in such a situation?

Thanks  Smiley

good move to have minimum 1 merit to be abble to upgrade from newbie to Jr, but if you just have to post a message like this to earn a merit, it's not so difficult...   Cheesy

@the Phamarcist:
First as a joke, but you'll agree that given the difficulty of collecting merits on local boards, your donation is a little inappropriate...

Rather than downgrade to Newbie, why do not you limit your signature set to the Member rank?

I first found out about this new rule, honestly I was disappointed but after I read again and saw that I saw in the thread bounty, this rule must apply and if possible improve because, many duplicate and scam accounts, especially in airdrops campaigns
