I watched his talk at the conference and it sounds really exciting. Dan is definitely a top notch dev. This does sound a bit like NEM though, how they have ready made software available to make things easier to code than Ethereum

Bitshares is curently in the top 20 on coinmarketcap. I doubt a scam coin would get so far and hold.Any truth to this?

He is apparently doing a presentation on EOS at the Consensus conference in a little bit, so more details will emerge soon.
