I'm still wondering how possible will ethereum overtake bitcoin, comparing the price of bitcoin and ethereum,  bitcoin price is much higher than ethereum by far. Comparing the demand of bitcoin and ethereum, bitcoin has much demand so I don't know how ethereum can possibly over take bitcoin.

With PoS coming and Gas fee finally getting fixed do you think that Ethereum is capable of overtaking bitcoin? Oh also there will be max supply for Ethereum finally too, or is this expectation of mine way too high.
Even if Ethereum is soon to adopt improvements on its own network, but i always believe that bitcoin will stay dominating the whole crypto market system. Aside from the fact that bitcoin is the most secured crypto asset, its value is quite more tempting than the rest of the coins in the market. So even if ethereum issues will finally be resolved and people will find it now affordable, bitcoin will always gain the spotlight in the market and will always be the people's most favorite coin to invest.

Some popular YouTubers are saying the same thing, Ethereum is going to beat BTC only in returns not over ranking, just because ETH is going PoS and this upgrade will introduce cheaper transaction fee doesn't mean it will defect Bitcoin, to me it's near impossible.
It will be hard for Ethereum to reach the milestones and achievements that Bitcoin has reached. There were already lots of coins that attempted to beat Bitcoin but none of them succeed. Bitcoin is the most trusted coin and we can't deny the fact that most investors prefer buying it over other coins. That's also the reason why it's always on top. Ethereum has a very huge potential yet still has a lot to prove.

For starters, you would have to specify what parameter we are comparing by in order to talk about whether it can eth overtake btc. Since you haven’t specified this, I’ll go through the values that come to my mind in order.

Price and total capitalization - I see no reason for eth to dominate over btc here.
The number and price of transactions - I assume that with a decrease in gas fee, the number of transactions in eth network will exceed the same parameter in btc network due to cheapness.

Ethereum will never be able to overtake Bitcoin.  Bitcoin is the king of all coins in the cryptocurrency market. The value of Ethereum and the value of Bitcoin are many paths. Bitcoin is also continuously increasing.Even if bitcoin goes down, ethereum won't increase to bitcoin.Bitcoin is not that easy to capture and is not likely to be in the future. Bitcoin and Ethereum are two coins in a different position, they are more and more different. Both coins are good but therefore Ethereum will never replace Bitcoin.

that's quite impossible for ethereum right now to take over bitcoin. As far as i know that if this time bitcoin is also growing steadily. Ethereum was also growing up when bitcoin was also doing the same thing. If bitcoin goes down and so many people will be liquidating their bitcoin as fast as they can to get stable token. The problem is if you forgot to consider potential of bitcoin as well. Surpassing bitcoin was not an easy task for ethereum as it needs to perform a few times better than bitcoin.

I didn’t believe it can happen . bitcoin is World first cryptocurrency and must trusted . many people now hold btc as a strong assets . so i mean it is not possible for eth to overtake bitcoin. in the next couple of years btc will increase marketcap and price also . so eth will not able to overtake btc in any way

For the next few years, there is no possibility that Ethereum can replace Bitcoin, if you look at the buy and sell prices, the two coins are very different, not to mention the development pattern and strength of the two coins, they may overtake the number of users, not in terms of price or stability.
This is something that is unlikely to be done in the near future, because people's belief in the two coins has different understandings

That's a question many people have asked several times over the decade and the answer is quite simple.
For the time being ETH cannot over take BTC in terms of price and marketcap.
But we don't know about the future so "may be" if things go in the favor of ethereum then there are some chances for it to over take BTC.

No one can predict exactly whether it will happen or not, but considering bitcoin took several years to reach its peak price. Ethereum hasn't even hit the 10k threshold yet, it's hard for me to imagine that kind of growth spurt.
bitcoin or ethereum have never been in the ranking of direct competitors, and bitcoin is understood as a payment system, whereas using tokens to implement smart contracts.
and if we talk about market cap, popularity and also can store value no doubt, bitcoin is still the king of crypto.

At the moment, Ethereum will not be able to overtake Bitcoin. Even for a very simple reason. Bitcoin was one of the first coins on the cryptocurrency market. And now this coin is one of the most important. Since the Bitcoin coin is a great source of income for many users, and crypto enthusiasts showed the greatest interest in it, who doubled their income by 1000 times. And now no one wants to lose their money. And now Bitcoin will always be the most promising coin.

Even in the future, it is impossible for Ethereum to take over Bitcoin in terms of market cap and popularity. Since bitcoin is the first crypto currency, with no active owner and limited supply will always make it stand out among all other cryptocurrencies including Ethereum.
Bitcoin is truly decentralized.

If bitcoin will fail in the near future then possible eth will take over but looks this not gonna happen btc has the most secured network in crypto, If I were to ask to choose on this two coins I still choose the king Bitcoin, no explanation.

Currently bitcoin is still dominant in terms of market capitalization, if bitcoin fails then everything will collapse, there is no chance for any coin including ETH. But it's almost impossible, ETH is really a good altcoin but looking at the past 10 years it's always been in 2nd place, never been able to overtake btc from market cap to adoption widely accepted.

It's possible, but I don't think it will happen anytime soon, a lot of new projects on the ethereum network are mainnetting and having their own blockchain.
the market cap will eventually decrease and in contrast to Bitcoin, Bitcoin has a large market cap, more than 50% and that's a large capital

Not likely anymore, there are mixed opinions about the merge. It cannot be said that the switch will be a good thing for ETH, and if the merge fails, it will create a fork of ETH.ETH can only take over bitcoin if its applicability surpasses btc and eth is accepted and the demand for ETH is greater than btc. Supply is not the factor that helps it overcome btc.

ETH is soon to go to proof of stake so that will be [pretty interesting to see what happens after the transition - as ETH blockchain is getting more and more popular as it is easier to use maybe we will see a big transition of crypto users? We will have to wait and see a few more months we guess.

I think it's still impossible to replace bitcoin's position. Bitcoin is the main thing when we get to know other coins and all cryptocurrency community has always believed in bitcoin. But you don't have to be sad if you invest in ethereum. ethereum is also not inferior in utility to bitcoin, ethereum can be said to be the coin of the future because of its many uses.

PoS and Gas Fee? Nope, I'd never weigh these things as a reason for ETH to dethrone Bitcoin, not a single chance.
I guess you need to analyze the market so well. In fact, as you can see altcoins are still reliant on Bitcoin, it dominates the market since the beginning, and to think it will change someday, I would say NO.

Investors are much preferred to invest in Bitcoin and even these newcomers. ETH has its own purpose and a market role which is different from Bitcoin. Tried to consider that ETH is not competing with Bitcoin and it remains in the 2nd rank next to it.

If we look the two main differences between Ethereum and Bitcoin are fees and scaling. I honestly think the answer to this question will depend a lot on what happens to Ethereum's initial coin offering model and its chain splitting into several competing cryptocurrencies. If the current state of innovation creeps into the mining model, I see Ethereum being able to overtake Bitcoin prices at some modest point and even then I'm not wrong, and for Ethereum itself right now it could work wonders to change the crypto world going forward for the better.

I don't think it will happen, that Ethereum will take over bitcoin. If that were to happen, Ethereum should have been able to show early signs that Eth would do that. But I see that is not the case, bitcoin will remain the crown holder in cryptocurrency. Over time bitcoin will continue to be on top of any altcoin, including Ethereum.
