Well in my view both the projects are open-source, Turing complete, and have ample community backing with great, responsive teams.
But seldom will you find an Ethereum competitor and/or an alternative. I firmly believe that NEO might be a competitor and an alternative to Ethereum.

I was eth fun at the begining. but now i see how good neo is. my vote is for neo. GAS is making so much difference.

I think both options are possible, they both die or both will support each other.
If you want to make a profit by the end of the year, it's better to invest in eth. If you want to get a good profit after 2 years, then it's better to invest in neo.
Which do you think is better and why?
I will suggest you to invest in both as both of them are going very well but in the market there is not only these two coins to invest in but there are also a number of other coins which also have the potential to increase much higher in value and which also will bring a many folds income fro you from your investment if you invest in them for a period of one year or more. 
each of these platforms pursues its goals. the basic concept of NEO is a smart economy, and the etherium has smart contracts. so in this case it all depends on your choice.
Both neo and ethereum is a great altcoin and for me we can able to be really rich if if we will invest a big amount of money on both ethereum and neo, and i think right now neo is more affordable but also has a chane to pump in the future.

I fully agree with you and your strategy, but NEO is not to be underestimated in my opinion. NEO is going to make it hard for Ethereum.

It seems to me not worth comparing these two projects. They are different and both are very promising. It's just worth keeping the coins of both projects in a long-term position and they will both always grow. The projects are very serious and they are developed by serious companies.
Ethereum is the best for sure. They were the first to bring the revolutonary idea of smart-contracts, and most ICO's and investors like Ethereum the most. NEO will remain hust the Chinese version of Ethereun.
for now I still choose and support ETH rather than NEO, because I think ETH is more profit than NEO.
the comparison between neo and eth coins is very good in the market, both coins provide good price and also the potential in big market. but i see if eth is still the leading coin than neo.
These two altcoins are popular and rated good in the digital market ,for me to choose ETH or NEO I will prefer first ETH than NEO because as we see ETH has establish its program in the market and getting more familiarity with it.
Of course the choice is difficult. But I will choose Neo. He is very popular, the money almost leaves everything on his platform and it still increases his popularity. Ether is also a perfect coin but I prefer Neo.....
If you want to invest for a long term, it's better to invest in neo. If for a short term, it's better in eth.
