So nobody tried this out with their R9 280X yet?

I believe this is specifically targeted at polaris cards. Why don't you try yourself as you seem to own some?...Smiley

What problems is this?

My rigs are still running fine.

The problem is the hashrate drop for Polaris based cards mining ether because of the DAG.

Where does this AMD driver come from? What is the source link?

The one here 22.19.659.1 is older than the official 17.7.2 which is 22.19.662.4

Does the official 17.7.2 work also?

Claymore 9.7 also works.

About higher power consumption - all folks that are reporting it: please check it "at the wall" with wattmeter. AB is showing higher digits, but at the wall there is no change. So my conclusion is that this is caused by new beta AB.

Unfortunately for me, I didn't manage to make the driver work on WIN8.1, I was able to do it only on WIN10.

Hasherates are up, for sure: Sapphire 570/4 was 27.9 now is 30.0.

So I've tried it on a 470 4GB rig of mine, all cards back to 29.3Mh/s.

2 things:

Claymore 9.6 works fine, not sure why you'd need to use 9.8. I've noticed you cannot control voltages at all with Claymore though, Watttool doesn't work any longer either (except for memory clocks it seems). I really hope this gets fixed?

On those Sapphire cards, I was able to use an old version (old as in a few months old) of Trixx and downvolting works fine.

On some cards can downvolt with beta AB, on some not.
On some cards claymore -parameters work, on some not.

On rx 4xx series claymore work concerning voltage, on rx 5xx claymore does not work however watttool offset voltage works, interesting. on rx 5xx you dont need afterburner, on rx 4xx you need afterburner. Also this beta driver does not give the performance it had prior to dag problem. I mean I have been doing tests on 4 cards, rx 470, rx 480, rx 570 and rx 580 my friend gave to me for the tests and so far, performance is not like used to be. He gave me logs of 3 months ago and it shows me that a rx 480 samsung he used to get around 31.5, now with this driver he gets only 30.3. There is something wrong somewhere. All the other cards are the same. This beta driver for test is good however I would not recommend it after amd releases an official driver.

I adjusted speed down to 29mhs and to use total 465W . CPUZ use 83W/Vga

This driver is strange much like the latest official release.  Power use is up a good bit... I raised all the cards in this rig from 105 to 115 and lowered the voltage via bios from 937 to 912.  AB shows 8.88x volts but the power is still high.

https://image.prntscr.com/image/jqtvXR4bSOWDelQcGMk_Vg.png

Screenshot of AB graphs.  This rig is 5x570.  I'm not sure if voltage is wrong or if something else is causing high power usage (which throttles these cards).

Edit:  This was dual mining.  Even on ETH only I'm at like 100w which is +15w or so from the driver I typically use.

I cant even solo mine due to heat issues but this could be related to the issues i see, a permanent throttling of the cards due to higer power ussage than it should be , fans are all and 90% when before i was at 75% temps are up as well

You must check using all kind of software, monitor everything and do maximum of 3 cards if you have a psu of 1000w. My case here is not concerning the power, is concerning the driver itself.

I dont know if its bug with the drivers or the 9.8 version of claymore but on about half my machines

the hash rate goes from 28ms or so to 8 and stays there till i have to reboot the rigs

Is there a problem running the driver on multi screen PCs ?
Tried it on my gaming PC with a single RX580 and 3 screens. Doesn't work.
Worked on all my other rigs with 1 or 0 screens.

Hi

Just installed drivers, a combo of RX560/RX580 went from 39/40MHs to 43.5MHs.

Thank you robinh00d
