True, they are quite risky, but on the other side, they are quite beneficial when any bump comes. It is personal choice to invest in BTC, Ethereum, or top alt coins. Who can take more risks, chance of more benefits, who takes calculated and safe risks, they get moderate benefits.
Both altcoin and bitcoin are good for investment but i would rather invest in altcoin than bitcoin because it is easy to invest with small money and make more profit in altcoin.

There is no specific answer to this question. You can hold any of the coins as you don't know which one might be profitable for you in future.

It is good to diversify among ETH and other altcoins. There are many other altcoins around, you have to research to find a good project before investing.
I think that the ETH as many altcoins are scam, they can generally leave the market

choose another coin that is better than altcoin for example I would prefer NEO because we will get GAS when we hold the neo that gives us more profit but even if you hold ethereum I think that will also give you high profits someday..

I will prefer to hold in altcoins, because you can choose for owning multiple altcoins.

Holding ethereum is good if you want to investing into ICO, but nowadays only a few ICOs are doing good.

Buy some altlcoins and ether and hold them overtime. Maybe you can do 60%-40% division. 60% for ether and 40% for alcoins. Also, buy several altcoins not just one to minimize your risk.
How can you say that the ETH is more stable if in 2018 the ETH fell by more than 98 percent? it has cost 1500 on its ATH and now it is 120. stable? Hey guys what do you think? I can not give preference to something specific. Each coin is only a tool that you must use depending on the market situation. Now I like Ethereum the most.
