It's better to sell some if your ethereum combined with bitcoin to trade another promising coin. There is also another option just like sell your bitcoin and keep your ethereum in your wallet. I guess ethereum is steadily increasing even more. Is not it bad to selling your ethereum right now?
You must think about this dude as there is a possibility for ethereum to break another ATH again soon. Think about that.
Even bitcoin is coming back to the bullish mode too.
If OP sell some today does that mean he could buy back some soon?

I wonder if Ethereum will have a small dip or something in able to buy back after selling today OP would definitely gain some profit but it would take some time to buy back the dip IMO.

I think what you mean is OP need to diversify his money to Bitcoin and Ethereum at the same time. Welp, if OP have some more money then he might do that or he could just split his investment in Ethereum to Bitcoin if he's going to sell some but it isn't the right time yet to sell. I hope OP gets our point.
Ethereum is dipping this day although it's a small dip but when op was selling some ethereum yesterday and he may able to get a small profit from ethereum too. This profit will depend on how much ethereum that already sold by OP.

He wants also to diversity his portfolios into the another small-cap coins like top 100 CMC maybe

So I bought some Ethereum for £1070 a few days ago and it is now worth £1326. Would now be a good time to sell for a small profit?

I am investing more long term in Bitcoin but wanted to trade a bit on smaller coins i.e Ethereum etc.

why you are not drop your money in ethereum as long long term investment, just like bitcoin ?
many people believe if in the next few years ethereum price will growing really hard my friend,
even in my predictions the price could grow and touch about $3000 even more in this year
Yeah, as the second cryptocurrency that has a bright future after Bitcoin, Ethereum is increasingly being reckoned with in the crypto market. Especially after Ethereum 2.0 was launched, It will be very easy for Ethereum to hit the $3000 mark by 2021.

If you think that you want to book your profit you have to take the decision because a third party cannot guarantee you a solid return and the delay in implemented the upgrade and the higher transaction fees are not a good sign for the ETH market and there are other platforms trying to take advantage of the situation and luring developers to their chain.

That’s fine to take profit now and wait for the price to go down again, by this you can be a good trader.
If you’re planning to trade, setup your sell price and cut loss price to prevent yourself from missing opportunities. That’s normal to doubt when to sell but if you do have strategies, then you should commit on that. If I’m in your position, I’ll sell and take that good profit.

Investing bitcoin for long term I don't think if that is good idea but I prefer top altcoins like Cardano, Binance coin and Polkadot.
It has always been the best idea to invest in bitcoin for long term. In my experience, I've gained more in Bitcoin but we don't have the same experience and I know people who have made more in altcoins.
But to say that bitcoin isn't a good long term investment, I think that you're having a mistake with that belief. It's always been the most stable and reliable cryptocurrency that you can hold for the long term.
Investing in BTC for the long term is the best idea and to tell the truth, BTC is better for the long term than short-term investing. Top altcoins are also great and l prefer investing either BTC or top altcoins, that is why l think top altcoins have more potential than other cryptocurrencies. As you mentioned l know also people who have gained a lot of profit from altcoins, however, BTC is the best choice for me. BTC is the most reliable cryptocurrency and people rely on BTC instead of investing in other currencies. If you think still that BTC is good for the short term, l advise checking one-time investing in BTC for the long term. You will see the result, best luck.

Taking the profit not a bad idea, after it surges in price it will go down again. I would urge you investing more long term in Ethereum as well, this is the perfect time to get it. It's never a bad idea to HODL ETH for next couple of years.

Ethereum is a huge volume cryptocurrency and they have number of whales in current traffic. But we don't know when it will pump or dump in cryptomarket. I think surely next couple of months it will going to forward and we know all the coins are follow the BTC way so long term investors are make more profit in crypto platform.

Why didn't you make a plan in advance when you bought your Ethereum?
You can decide at what price you will sell when the price goes up or when the price goes down.
I would like to advise you to hold your ETH. but since you buy already at a quite high price, I think it's too risky.
This relates to the long-term renewal that ethereum is running. I have the belief that when all is done it will make Ethereum prices even better.
considering bitcoin didn't get that big of a correction until the update was complete.

Investors on the market have very positive moods and everything indicates that the upward trend will continue. This is a speculative thread, so don't take my suggestion to hold your investment as a guideline and advice. You have to decide on your own finances and remember that cryptocurrencies are a high risk market. But as probably most of the users in this thread, if I were in your place I would hold back on selling Ethereum for a while.
I agree that holding ethereum is a better choice right now, sure there are things that do not look good for ETH just yet, it could get better but it Is not nice right now, and the fact that BNB is getting more attention and the transaction fee's of ETH getting higher all attributes to people not holding ETH too much, but the reality is that we could always end up with holding for longer term and profiting. Who says that ETH will not be like bitcoin?

Can you guarantee that ETH will not become 50k? I still think that it is a possibility and we will see that one day, obviously it may take years and years before that could happen but that is a possibility and that Is why holding eth is not an idea. If you have more money you should invest into other things too, who could say that you can't hold on to the other things, but just hold eth as well as other ones.

Take Profit or Cut Loss decisions could be your personal decisions.
The only can i advise to you is that decisions could be based on your strategy, not by emotional and irrational moves.
But my personal opinions, i will hold that ETH because i believe after ETH solves it high gas fee issue, the price will be go higher.
Also, ETH/BTC at this time is on Horizontal Support Line.
I believe there is not much to wait for the Ethereum team to implement their plans for the final stage of Update 2.0, including EIP 1559 in the London hard fork, which will reduce transaction costs. But my biggest concern today is the mining pools strike because they have several options to stop EIP 1559 and most of them involve actively hostile actions against the network.

Yes its a problem, but its easy to counter that since i believe many Ethereum supporters can buy hashpower from Nicehash or elsewhere to support the network from the mining pools which support EIP 1559.
In the end, miner will move to another network which still use PoW mechanism.

Selling for a small profit is not a sin or something bad but the market bullish momentum is very much functional selling now will make you lose much more profit. However, you need to create a stop lost strategy which will prevent you from making lost when a dump happens suddenly in the market.

The EIP will make it even more in demand.

It's what the community is waiting for. For such updates coming from the ETH main devs are making it confident that everyone should be able to invest on it.

It didn't break $1900 this time and $2k is the ideal price to look forward.

Congratulations, you already get a profit of more than 20%. If I was in your position, i will sell it soon, because I got the results from the investment that I made. In investing we must have a principle, do not ever be tempted by big profits that we will not necessarily get. Moreover, the crypto market is very difficult to guess, it could be that we will lose everything because of greed wanting to get bigger profits.

It's up to you if you want to sell your ethereum. For me it's not bad that you gained 20% profit. If you don't need money then you better to hold until ethereum hits $2000 price. Investing bitcoin for long term I don't think if that is good idea but I prefer top altcoins like Cardano, Binance coin and Polkadot.

I need to work out a proper strategy as this is my first experience in crypto.
You should consider crypto is very volatile and it can go down so hard but recover again in a short time. You must also try to watch the trend and it looks like bitcoin is still very bullish at this moment.
That means if ethereum has a chance to go back again to the moon. Yesterday ethereum has been facing another 10% growth and i guess you should never sell your ethereum consider it can give you capital gain.
That should be a dilemma for you whether you wanna sell your ethereum or not. You should learn from the various traders in the market.
