Investors on the market have very positive moods and everything indicates that the upward trend will continue. This is a speculative thread, so don't take my suggestion to hold your investment as a guideline and advice. You have to decide on your own finances and remember that cryptocurrencies are a high risk market. But as probably most of the users in this thread, if I were in your place I would hold back on selling Ethereum for a while.

Take Profit or Cut Loss decisions could be your personal decisions.
The only can i advise to you is that decisions could be based on your strategy, not by emotional and irrational moves.
But my personal opinions, i will hold that ETH because i believe after ETH solves it high gas fee issue, the price will be go higher.
Also, ETH/BTC at this time is on Horizontal Support Line.
I believe there is not much to wait for the Ethereum team to implement their plans for the final stage of Update 2.0, including EIP 1559 in the London hard fork, which will reduce transaction costs. But my biggest concern today is the mining pools strike because they have several options to stop EIP 1559 and most of them involve actively hostile actions against the network.

So I bought some Ethereum for £1070 a few days ago and it is now worth £1326. Would now be a good time to sell for a small profit?

I am investing more long term in Bitcoin but wanted to trade a bit on smaller coins i.e Ethereum etc.

It always depends on you, if you think that the profit is enough then you can sell it, the only reason why people loss is because they are  lack of patience but it is still depend on the holders hand, because no one knows what will happen next, this is crypto and you will be the one to make your own strategy in the market that is always moving from time to time, you're investment is also youre loss if ever the price will fall down ,so if theres already a profit then grab it holding is just an option to those who can wait for a years or even a decade so think twice.
You are right mate, patience is important in crypto but the most important is brain we also need to be smart and think twice if we can wait for so many years in order for us to earn, but it always depend on your luck, look at the bitcoin price today and imagine if you bought bitcoin last 2018 and hold it for 3 consecutive years and look at the profit the you possibly earn. sounds simple but it is hard, because no one can control the price and we dont even know what will happen tommorow if it is still bullish or bearish.

Such decision really depends on the buyer himself. If he is already happy with the profit, he can sell it at anytime he wants. The important thing here is that, he is in the positive profit here. He can always do the buy and sell and earn profit thru that strategy. As we don't know what will happen in the crypto market, better secure your funds with positive earnings, right?

Thank you all for the feedback. I need to work out a proper strategy as this is my first experience in crypto.
Good luck with it. Just keep on doing what you think will work for you and the rest will follow and you'll definitely come up with a strategy of when's the right time to sell and to buy.

In my opinion, Etherem is the best investment right now,
ETH is a good investment but if we're dealing about which is the best, Bitcoin will remain to be the best.

well, for now you already made about 30% profit right,,
its better to sell a half of your ethereum now and keep your profit in eth, because beside bitcoin ethereum is good for long term investments too

In my opinion, Etherem is the best investment right now, because from a time to a time it has experienced very drastic growth, so that the etherem is a promising investment, currently the price of the eth is $1800 and will be close to $ 2000 , only what I regret is the very high cost of etherem gas , I hope the ETH management can findinga solution to this problem, so that ETH can develop even better in the future,

If you wanna try to trade your ether and just do that as long as you have got profit from your ethereum and it's not a bad decision.
Do you see the latest news? the bitcoin is preparing to break another ATH soon. I do believe it doesn't matter what kind of major coin that you are holding right now.  You can try to keep some and sell the rest.
It might be the best decision to take some money as your profit and keep some to anticipate the next bullish trend.

you already get a profit even though it is small, but it is very good for you. in trading you don't have to get big profits but small profits are consistently better. in this case you choose the correct token such as ethereum

I advise you not to ask such questions to strangers on the Internet. Everyone should decide for themselves how much to invest, in what moment and with what profit / loss to sell.
If you consider this earnings appropriate, then sell it.
Overall, the sentiment in the market is very positive and I personally haven't been selling yet, but I'm not sure the price will go up, I just accept the risk that it may go down.

That will be up to you when you should sell your ethereum, but maybe taking the profit will now be a good idea.
If you have more than 1 ethereum or let say you have 5 ethereum, you can sell 1 ethereum at a price now, which is a high price than the price you bought.
You can have more money from selling that ethereum, so when the price gets a correction later, you will have a chance to buy ethereum, and in that time, your ethereum amount will change and that is not just 1 ethereum because you can buy more than 1 ethereum.
Or you can still buy for 1 ethereum and keep the profit for another coin or withdraw it.

From my view points, it'll be more profitable if OP hodl it until next London Hardfork where EIP 1559 (Ethereum Improvement Proposal 1559) will be implemented and this is great news for ethereum hodlers. As gas fee will be reduce after this hardfork because it won't be the same transection process like now and burn machanism+miner tipped system will be introduced on EIP1559 which will definitely impact on the price of ethereum. So, it'll be profitable for all dapp users as well as ethereum hodlers in the long run.

Thank you all for the feedback. I need to work out a proper strategy as this is my first experience in crypto.
In general, you'll find two extremes, those who believe a 5% gain is good enough to sell and those who aim for 50% or more. I'd play it safe and use a proper sell/exit strategy depending on my capital but as a rule of thumb, the best one is to sell a percentage of your holding when the price reaches a certain value. So, let's say 5% when ETH rises to $1500, 10% when it reaches $1700, and so on. Obviously, this depends on your risk appetite.

If you plan on day trading though, I guess most of the time 10% profit a day is good enough to close your trading activity (as long as your capital is $1k or more, since with $100 you'll only get peanuts).

It's up to you.
That's already gain and if you don't want anything to do with Ethereum then so be it, sell it.  Wink

You're up to keeping other currencies like you said which is Bitcoin.
Then better focus on that. Getting greedy will get you nowhere. You don't want to ruin your plan or else it will get confusing on the long run.

Anytime.

Sell and wait again for a dip and buy.

When you sell, put a larger part in bitcoin and you can still do what you want with Ethereum for doing some trades.

I will take this opportunity because 20% the profit in a few days is quite a lot in my opinion and in crypto the price changes very quickly, You say as a Bitcoin holder, profits from ETH can re-add the amount of BTC you have, but back again what is your initial target to buy ETH, for the short term or long term holder.

As you said, you're more long term in bitcoin only. So if I were you, I'll take that 20%+ now, and repeat order in an exact time/price.

Note: you're the one who knows the better for your financial.
