ETH is already the 2nd highest valued coins in the market. But I still don't think it will replace bitcoin in any situation given.
In terms of ultility and mass adoption.. ETH will have a great future. BTC will become (or already has become) a store of value.
Is ethereum going to be next bitcoin?
Absolutely yes, but if you're thought is ethereum replace the status now of bitcoin my answer is no, maybe it does not happen even though last few moths ethereum who almost overtake the bitcoin price in the crypto market cap.
Remember that ethereum is an altcoin and bitcoin is an origin of all crypto currency or mother of all coins or let say altcoin a copy cat of bitcoin. So, therefore no one can replace bitcoin maybe ethereum at the next step of bitcoin.
In couple years it can. But only in case people will stop buying BTC due to its price. Ethereum is more innovative than bitcoin, thanks to smart contract support. Ethereum's price growth is pretty good making it #2 crypto.
Ethereum is future surely, in addition with Bitcoin. The Ethereum's price is growing up fastly nowadays and it is expected to keep rising for many coming months, because the demand for this crypto currency is very high actually, since it's needed for the ICO's devs and investors.
Ethereum has great future ahead, but I think it will never replace bitcoins position in the market.

im quite agree that ethereum could be the new bitcoin. they have a great project and really usefull for society. almost all trasaction that been done by ico is using ethereum network and even their own smart contract is using ethereum network. for a few years i dont think ethereum will be such big as bitcoin now. but maybe in several years like 10 or 15 years when all the market all already stagnant and didnt rise significantly like a market stock i would believe many people would pour into ethereum to invest their money on it and the price in that day would be significantly differrent from now. 
Ethereum going to be the next bitcoin is not an impossible thing to happen. But Ethereum will still have a lot to do before becoming the next bitcoin. If you also look at its value you can also see that it is really profitable like bitcoin. And honestly, for me Ethereum is the second best cryptocurrency right now.
All token have possibility to next in bitcoin but still bitcoin will remain on top since this is the first coin who are having huge value and very useful nowadays. Ethereum is good to invest if you have extra money much better to have this coin in the future, value will start to increase and more people will be shock next year like what happen in bitcoin in last couple of months.
I think that ethereum is our future from a technological point of view. But it’s possible that bitcoin will have a higher price
ethereum is of course better technology than bitcoin but the price is impossible BitCoin will always be the highest priced coin
I think ETH is likely to exceed BTC in 10 years, after all, there are a lot of ERC20 TOKEN above ETH.
I think that it can be happen. Now, many people choice ethereum than the other. So ethereum always rising in the future can be happen 
Technically Ethereum is not good choice as world blockchain. It has speed just about ~20 trans per sec (yes, it`s faster than BTC up to 7 times, but 20 is still very low digit).
Is ethereum going to be next bitcoin?
Not in terms of functionality and use, no - but it could be next one to be number 1 in market cap.
It won't ever replace bitcoin because they do different things. That said there are genuine competitors to ETH in smart contracts, so ETH is leading the way with first mover advantage and a lot of big companies on board, but this could change in the future.
But I would say ETH will be number 1 smart contract at least in the medium-term, and if anything rises to challenge it, we will see it a long way off (keeping one eye on you, Cardano).
Ether will go rise in 2018 and I am sure it can go pass 2000$ in the next coming 12 months. Lets see if it proves me right or not.
Year 2018 will be having a huge price of ethereum. Indeed ethereum is a future maybe we can see it can reach $2k. Many users invests on ethereum so the price may increase in the upcoming months. Etheruem is profitable since.

It depends about how you understand it. Ethereum can grow fast and high in short time like Bitcoin but can not achieve this same price, because bitcoin it exists longer and has bigger support
Ethereum is steadily growing time to time and that is a good sign to invest but I don't it can surpass bitcoin.
Not sure if ethereum will be the next bitcoin, but what is sure is that Bitcoin is currently not made for massive usage.

There are plenty of coins so much faster and so much secure than bitcoin. So I'm 90% sure that in less than a decade, bitcoin will be surpassed easily by a real technology.It's just that currently, it's the historical coin, and 90% of the population don't know at all what is blockchain, and only know crypto as the bitcoin.
