I believe there are four major categories of blockchain platforms these days:

1. Store of value (Bitcoin, Litecoin)
2. Smart Contracts (Ethereum, Lisk),
3. Privacy (Zcash, Monero)
4. Governance (Tezos, Decred)

Does anyone think there are other value categories for Blockchains? Not investment advice, but I think it's prudent to plan for the eventual success of each of these categories...

In addition I invest into a very profitable bitcoin, I also have some to ethereum investment because of the ethereum has also a high price value within the long term so that we need not fear your future if you invest to both. For that reason the eth will always continue to improve it's selling and get value. So it is ofcourse a long-term investment but more than that. I have full confidence to Ethereum.

ETHEREUM has and always will be the foundation of smart contracts and the "birthplace" of all the ICOs you are currently seeing right now. All those ICOs using Ethereum tokens are bringing in more value to ETH. Newcomers to crypto are buying new ETH everyday in order to join ICOs. More people buying ETH is good because it shows that there is a real use for it. Todays ETH price is very cheap, great time to invest. Good luck.

Yes there are many ETH based projects are coming to the market, and people are preferring ETH instead of using bitcoin. Becasue of the fast transaction and less fee. this will become next bitcoin. But I don't tell it will beat bitcoin in future but it will reach the target what bitcoin now achieved. So holding bitcoin for 2 or 3 years is worth.

All coins are are good for a long term investment, ETH is a coin with a slow and steady way of growth, but somehow it is better to use bitcoin for a long term investment, which has a better growing strength.
It will be better you look into which coin you wish to use for a long term investment.

Yes, I agree, Ethereum is a long-term investment and all signs look great! Eventually, it can hit 1k easily quite soon!

The only reason that it's not moving is that the crypto market is facing a hard time in general. Once everything clears it will skyrocket again!

Not necessarily. A lot of coins had professional approach and clear use case, but have been abandoned. In the end, a community that cares, including strong volunteers, developers and merchants(!) must be there to ensure the alt survives. I can say that if this happens for a few years, then we can talk about longer prospects.

Pump and dumps shouldn't even be in the discussion.

Yes, I would say ETH has build a solid ground for itself. Every ICO accepts ETH and it's listed on coinbase. that's good enough. However, some people say majority of it is owned by handful of people but we can the same thing about any other altcoin. Can it survive without bitcoin? I don't think it can. not yet.

You will be crazy to not own any ETH. ETH is the leading technology, which allows for real business applications to be deployed via the blockchain. It's a big deal.
