In the next year ETH will overtake BTC as the number 1 cryptocurrency.  I would unload your bitcoin while you still can.
Ethereum is second popular digital currency in crypto, actually success of any currency behind a competitive team and luckily etherum have which prov to that they have done. While to overcome Bitcoin need more home work, more effort and work in to create awareness of etherum because less people know about etherum.

I think that by capitalization ETH will surpass bitcoin in 2018. And as far as I know, more payments are made in ETH than in bitcoin since the summer of 2017. So according to this parameter it can be considered that the ETH has already surpassed bitcoin.

its all about utility. markets dont give a sht of what was first. btc might evolve to store of value like e.g. gold, which does not necessarily mean it will be worth more in the end.
that is why its good to have a solid spread in your portfolio and keep on accumulating on the stash and adding promising new ones. everyone knows about disruptive technologies, so why should there be a difference in this space.
we are fucking sheep in the end and a flippening of whatever coin should always be in the back of ones head..
ETH will definitely pump hard once casper is released. sharding and staking will boost it a lot. right now many new tokens will consider switching to different pltforms that can run EVM, but the prospect of fixing the ETH bottleneck will keep them in place imo.

In my opinion Ethereum can't overtake bitcoin, Ethereum has a potential altcoin but compare to bitcoin it has a large amount of supply that cannot surpass the bitcoin.

If bitcoin succeeds, it can iteratively upgrade, absorbing all the advantages of all other digital currencies, so there is no need to replace it with another virtual currency.
If Bitcoin fails, then the digital currency will prove to be infeasible, and the other digital currency does not exist.

I think this is very likely to happen. It is not impossible for Ethereum to overtake Bitcoin. Now many ICO projects are invested through Ethereum, which means that the future Ethereum trade volume will reach a terrible level. Numbers, then as Ethereum's trading volume grows bigger, it will grow better and better in the future.

It can happen, but compare the value between the two at this time i think ethereum takes more than 1 year to beat and overtake bitcoin.

Yea I don't think eth will be #1, btc has stood the test of time in crypto world, ETH is definitely highly trust but I think BTC is the most well known and that alone will keep it at the top.

Ethereum will not replace Bitcoin

"If I am correct, the size of the blockchain is not related to the number of full nodes (but this will reflect people's emphasis on this chain), then, probably next year, even Ethereum's blockchain The volume will exceed the blockchain size of Bitcoin and Ethereum will be less centralized (measured by the number of nodes on the network), says Gavin.
However, this comparison will not reduce Bitcoin’s current strength and position as the most popular cryptocurrency in the world.

"This does not mean that Bitcoin will die, or that Ethernet will replace Bitcoin as the number one cryptocurrency," Gavin said. "The 5,000 nodes will suffice, even if Ethereum nodes reach 100,000, it doesn't make much sense. People don't know and don't care how many nodes are relaying or verifying their transactions."
Gavin also added that even if the Bitcoin network has only 1,000 base points in 50 countries, it is still enough to decentralize.

Everything could happen in the next couple years including for ethereum to have a chance to overtake the bitcoin,  but it's too difficult I think,  cause from the first time cryptocurrencies made,  bitcoin is the most popular and has the highest price,  ethereum is only an alternative coin that the movement itself still influenced by the bitcoin,  maybe ethereum is the most popular in altcoin,  it's all because ethereum often used by an ICO as a transaction ticket,

No they can't overtake bitcoin as you see bitcoin have a high price value in the market and eth never reached that price in  one year so they can't overtake bitcoin maybe eth can get big price someday but not  in one year.
By market capitalization, it can theoretically easily bypass bitcoin. This is all due to the fact that most of the projects are developed on the basis of technology ERC-20.

I also think the same thing, in terms of total market capitalization, ethereum can surpass bitcoin because they can change the system from pow to pos and this can lead supply increase. But in terms of unit price, ethereum can't surpass bitcoin under these conditions.

I do not know if it will overtake the etherium bitcoin, but I do not think it's going to be something like that, but it's not so easy to predict what will happen tomorrow

I do not think any Altcoin will ever reach Bitcoin price, but however they will go up. ETH will grow day to day and will go up as well, but it needs time.

I do not think that Ethereum could become better than bitcoin. bitcoin is the best in the cryptocurrency market

The unlimited and centralized nature of the Ethereum is its main shortcomings. Mass ICO also regularly bring down the market by 30 percent or more in one day, which undermines confidence in it. Bitcoin, on the other hand, is the strongest and most stable asset on cryptomarket, the emission of which will not end in either our own or the dozens of the next generations.

I do not agree with you brother. Ethereum cannot overtake bitcoin in my opinion. Ethereum is an altcoin. Bitcoin is real bitcoin.

I think it could be but it takes a long time, because seen from the price ethereum and bitcoin very dissect far and the volume of the market is also much different but I am sure one day ethereum will be superior to bitcoin.
