Obviously it’s great to enjoy what you do but be careful that trying to monetise your hobby doesn’t cause you to fall out of love with it. The pressures of running a business are rife & you might regret doing it. Have a thoroughly good think first if it’s something that you definitely want to do.

yeah i always wanted to be a pizzaiolo but i'd literally eat all the profits
Lol, that made me chuckle.  Grin A fast food chain hiring you would see their revenue dropping pretty soon after it.

Jokes apart, it's not easy to make your passion a way for you to earn money through it, and those who manage to do that in their lives are lucky because you can't have a better source of income if you enjoy what you are doing and you are earning money with it as well.

I have always wanted to be a video gaming streamer, I love playing video games and I used to be very good at almost every game that I played, now it has been a few years since I last played games due to personal problems and reasons, and I could never make my dream come true for some reason.

So are you saying you finally went into the field? Or you still have the desire to go into it? I feel like I’ve heard about cost engineering before but thinking of it right now feels different (maybe because it’s unique). Anyway, it’s a good thing you know what you want, and yet what you want is authentic to show you aren’t trying to follow anyone but yourself.
Everyone must have a goal in life so that each of us will know what we really want so we know in what direction we will work towards it without having to follow other people. Although most people still see the traces of people who have been successful in certain fields in order to get more money and economic freedom in their lives. But in terms of oneself, of course everyone must know what they want and how to try to get what they want because it is very impossible for someone who is still alive but doesn't want anything.

In the past, I used to monetize my gaming hobbies, like selling gold or currency in MMORPGs (called RMT), selling high-level accounts, and sometimes helping people rank up in competitive MOBAs. But when a hobby becomes a job, it's just not fun anymore. It becomes a responsibility, and I can't relax until I finish the order.

Now, I'm trying a different approach. I'm looking for a skill that's in high demand and can make money, and then trying to love it. Maybe this way I can still have fun while making money. Who knows?
Yes, there is a pressure because we are trying to give our best to our clients to not disappoint them, so that they will come back to use our service again. Other than earning money, it also helps you sharpen your skills and if you are not working anymore but only playing personally, you will now enjoy more dominating the game. I think our passion or interests can only come from within and it's not good anymore to force ourselves to love something.

There are instances that we think it works but trust me, this is only for temporary. If it's not possible to have both fun and profits, then we only need to sacrifice and choose the ones that can give us a profit first because money is more important. We still can enjoy later on once we end our shift in our jobs.

Right now I have a micro business that somehow helps me, then this crypto trading that I do twice or thrice a week that somehow also gets a small profit that also supplements my living bills, and and at the same time my other online sources of income are also selling goods.

These are just some of the things I do to survive and sustain all the bills and expenses that life throws at me every day. And I do it for my loved ones so they don't go hungry.
And I know I'm not the only person who is doing this thing in this world.
I also think that almost everyone always does some work that can give them more income to support their lives and also feed the people they love in their lives. So you don't need to feel inferior or whatever the term is, apart from having to remain enthusiastic about your choice of work which regularly provides income to cover all your bills in life. Because now anyone will continue to experience difficulties if they are still lazy about working and still complain and say they don't know what to do to make money in life.
What you say is very true, everyone will of course be willing to do work to be able to provide income that can be given to their family and in my opinion this is very normal and we don't need to feel inferior about this work, just do it as long as what we do doesn't harm anyone. other things and whatever income we earn must be in accordance with the work we have done, there are some people who are lazy in doing their work and always complain about the work they have. of course they are the type of person who will find it difficult to develop in a better direction than their previous life and their life will always be looking for work and after getting it they will not work well so they have to leave their job and this will happen. continues to happen as long as they still like to complain at work.

to fulfill one's own desires It can be a really fulfilling experience to turn our passion into a business. There is a sense of purpose and fulfillment that comes from doing work we love that other jobs just cannot match. Increased general happiness and wellbeing may result from this.
But no matter how hard we work to realize our goals, there will always be some risk involved. Beginning a business is dangerous, and failure is a constant possibility. We expose ourselves to risk when we turn our passion into a business, both financially and emotionally. It feels like a personal failure when a business fails.

People often have hobbies that they are passionate about. Whet they dont have is the businessman mindset that allows them to monetize that hobby. A stamp collector might have many stamps but is unable to pitch them to other collectors to sell.

A game reviewer might be a great writer but does not want to make the blog to publish those reviews.

So the risk taking behavior needs to be there to start it off. Along with that if they are financially stable, there might be more chances that they can bring it fruition.
It's not only what you mentioned, but there needs to be an available audience as well. Are stamp collections still a thing? Are there still buyers out there, and if yes, what kind are they interested in, and how profitable are they? Do people still read blogs? They've gone out of fashion, and a large number of people prefer video content nowadays, which thus requires the ability to pivot when necessary. If I'm honest, turning your passion into a profitable business isn't always feasible, not to mention that there are people who don't know what they're truly passionate about and may never find one, while from what I've observed, a large number of us, including myself, do jobs that we don't like for the majority of our lifetime.

With that being said, sometimes it's best to take the risk, but that's easier said than done.

As much as I like that idea, I really don't want to do that because I'm going to be seeing that I'd be hating that passion no matter how much I'd love that, money is a pollutant in my opinion and if I'm doing something that I'm passionate about then that means that I want some peace of mind and that will never become a thing when people order the stuff that I do for fun when I decide to make a profit out of it, sure there are some passionate people that would be able to turn it into a profit but I'm the kind that would rather starve than take away what makes my life more chill and bearable. There's also the fact that not all passion filled hobbies are profitable in the long-term anyway.
I got your point honestly. You will only end up with frustration if you don’t meet your profit expectations from your passion. That’s why it’s easy to leave it as your passion and find other means that will create an income for you, or find a stable job that will always pay you in time. Hobbies are need to be enjoyed and definitely enhanced, but it should not reach your point that you’ll make it as your major source of income.

If unsure of everything regarding on what you like better find a stable source of income so that you will not get affected if your certain passion will not give you any decent profit. Practical thinking is important here. But for sure once you develop some critical skills that can develop your passion and you can monetized it then lots of clients knows that you are good to do the job that they are seeking for then everything will be rewarded.

For now people who's seeking profit for their passion and skills should not do any rush decision so that they can settle everything and make their life more better since its hard to struggle while chasing up earnings just to pass the day and survive.

Most people are in "vocation" since most jobs are what the world needs, some people are in "profession" because not all people can work in what they good due to lack of jobs. While achieving "Ikigai" is the hardest, you need to know yourself, you're smart and you need to be in the right moment.

Even we know there are many successful footballers, celebrities, actors etc, but that doesn't mean they already reach Ikigai.

Social media has allowed anyone with access to the internet and a few recording tools to embark themselves on the adventure to try to make money with their hobbies.

But make no mistake, this is no way easier than what it was on the past, and this is because now you are competing against people all over the world, and we know this is true because even if there are people out there with a lot of followers, the majority of those that try to earn money with their hobby only get a couple of likes a day, not enough to make a living through their passion I would think.
This is "unfortunately" true, because a lot of people realized that they could do this, but also a lot of people failed to do it. I mean we need to realize that it is not a great way to make money because there are only a few people who did.

You are not going to be mr.beast and make tens of millions of dollars from your hobbies, you are going to probably spend hundreds and hundreds of hours doing something and you will not end up with anything good in the end, plus lack of networking will make you lose as well. All in all I have to say that it is going to hurt a lot if we try to just keep it this way, we should realize that getting paid for not what we like but we can, is the way to make money. Focus on your talents that worths money.
This should not be a stopping factor for you though. I mean yes it is true that there aren't that many people that managed to turn their passion into profit, and that is a sad fact that a lot of people tried and failed. But that doesn't mean that we need to stop, I do have my passion, haven't turned that into profit at all, and barely have any time to do it, lately I have been quite busy, but I never stop, for nearly 2 years I have been learning that skill.

Did I stop because I haven't made a single dollar out of this in the past 2 years? No, of course not, because I am not doing this for the money, I wanted to be a person who could do this and that's why I am doing it, there is really no other reason for me to keep doing it at all.

I doubt there's anyone who did not have any ideas of such.
On my end one of my paassion is relaated to arts such as portraits and painting. Struggle is obvious;not all people will appreciate the output and also, the competition is already big given that there are many other artists out there. I had clients and managed to won on some contests but still, things aren't still on its peak. Am I getting discouraged? Actually not, and that's the purpose of passion. I believe same goes with other businesses which originated from the owner's hobbies like coffee shop, restaurants, car repair, and the likes. Struggles will be always there.
I am not saying that being frustrated is not a normal thing but if it is becoming dominant for long, then I guess that's not originating from passion; you have a bigger drive with profit. Passion means continuing to do it without any condition, simply because it is fulfilling already. Profit will just be a bonus.

Turning a hobby into a business sounds so fun! But I bet it has its challenges too.  What did you do for fun that you managed to monetize? I wanna hear all about how you went from hobbyist to entrepreneur!

Tell me, what struggles popped up as you worked to turn your passion into a profit? How did you push past them? Got any pro tips you can share to help other hobby lovers try to make it big? I love hearing stories of folks who bet on themselves and won.

Turning a hobby into a job is sometimes a very good situation indeed and it will make us comfortable with what we do.
But sometimes such good things cannot come to everyone because life is not that comfortable to get good things in everything we do.

Currently for generation Z, most of them always want this where it is certain that content creators on several platforms or social media are the main goal or most likely to become a gamers who are still very popular but in the end things like this sometimes have higher competition because of the same mindset.

So in this case it is important for us to start being realistic in doing things, even though it is not a problem to try to approach where hobbies can be used as one of the income generators but we also need to realize that if in the end things like this sometimes cannot match expectations so we also need to try to be realistic when we have tried and failed because not necessarily what we want can happen even though we have worked hard.

In short, don’t just rely on your hobbies to make them work and provide an income, but always find a real job, regardless if the job is according to your passion or not, the important is you are being paid. Now, on the part of your hobbies, I guess much better to remain it as a hobby so you won’t be too much pressured making it work just to secure an income. However, but if you can make an extra income out of your hobby, well that could be better as well.
Actually it doesn't matter if you really want to make a hobby as a job but in the end we have to be realistic when indeed our hobby ultimately has a lot of competition and we are just a hobby not serious in working on it then we must realize that self-qualification is important in the end.
Let's take an example in this case is a gamer or influencer who is in great demand by many people, especially for those entering generation Z today.

It is a good hobby and indeed it would be very good if the hobby could be channeled and benefit from the hobby we have but on the other hand we must realize that in the end the competition for this is very difficult to do and in the end the hobby is only a small part of the supporting factors that make this a little more difficult because indeed the probability is small because of the great competition so that when it is not possible to be forced then in the end we must be realistic and look for other alternatives to the work we have to do because in the end living life is not easy and we must prepare everything if the expectations we expect do not match the reality.
