Beta testers comes from to this forum or in other places? When you would open the site to public?

Beta testers came from this forum, but also from Twitter, and from our network of betting and crypto industry contacts. We have been building exbet.io for a long time behind the scenes.

We are aiming to launch the site by the end of 2019. Fingers crossed we hit that, otherwise it will be early 2020.

Thanks for your interest, carlfebz2.

Crossmatching is somewhat controversial on Betfair, not sure if there are really user benefits or if it's more just a way for bf to hoover up pennies on tight markets.

We think there are some good applications for cross-matching in the long term that allow for a simpler UX in binary markets. But Betfair went for years without implementing cross-matching and we don't see this as a priority for exbet.io until some time after launch.

Cricket cricket cricket lol. Certainly a decent trading sport. So... Any plans to support cricket cricket cricket?

Not at launch, but we're currently looking at:
(i) what is involved in supporting cricket at a product level (data, markets)
(ii) what the demand is (easier to do after launch, but initial feedback has been positive as you see)
(iii) ensuring sufficient liquidity in discussions with market makers

Or, better still, sign up for our newsletter at exbet.io  Cool
It’s unfortunate that I missed the opportunity to take part in beta testing.  But still, I would like to know these moments, why do you have, apart from Twitter, no longer any public relations, such as Telegram?  In my opinion, the official group of your project should be in order to announce information and to communicate with potential customers online.  In addition, how will it be possible to find information about what the results of beta testing turned out to be?

hi wxxyrqa, sorry you missed the beta! We hope you will check out exbet.io when we launch.

Good question about Telegram. Right now we have only Twitter, this thread on bitcointalk, and our email newsletter. We think that is probably enough channels to communicate before launch.. but Telegram is a possiblity. Other people have asked about a Telegram channel, so we will give it careful consideration.

Great that you are interested in the beta testing results and feedback, we will share a summary with everyone when ready.

Any news on the launch date yet?

I took part in the beta and am looking forward to trading some real BTC on the platform. Have been waiting for a decent bitcoin betting exchange for far too long...

hi meliquiades, thanks for taking part in the beta!

We are also very much looking forward to launch and seeing the exchange fill up with BTC liquidity. The feedback we got on the beta was great, and to be honest, it feels like the core product we have now is more or less ready to go, after a few tweaks based on beta feedback. However, launch depends not just on the product, but also on having all regulatory hurdles cleared, and getting the final stamp from all appropriate partners and authorities.

Watch this space for more news as we have it!

Thanks for the response! Looking forward to seeing the site launch properly soon, hopefully you can find some market makers that at least match Pinnacle lines.

You're welcome, it was fun to discuss business mechanics of an exchange - we're always ready for that.

Just made an account to test things out. My biggest concern right now: Are you storing passwords properly? I'm limited to 12 character passwords for whatever reason (my default is at least 16 randomly generated characters or a randomly generated passphrase) which seems really dumb as if you are properly hashing and salting passwords, it shouldn't matter how long my password is as the hash length ends up the same for database storage. Please don't tell me you're storing in plaintext, even if it is a beta.

We are not storing passwords in plaintext.

Limiting to 12 character passwords for the beta is something that we already reviewed internally since beta launch. It was an oversight that will be corrected before full launch. But thank you for pointing this out. Really happy to have you looking at the beta product - any other feedback is very much appreciated.

What is clear to us is that commission is only one element in making an exchange attractive to market makers. Being a market maker is a business decision, and so costs (commission) are important, but also a range of other considerations - tech stack, APIs, team behind the exchange, strategy & direction, product offering for recreational customers, and a whole range of other issues that feed into the value proposition for market makers.

this this this this

commission is a small part of the equation. the exchange needs to offer a *future* for market makers, they work hard for their profits, they commit resources to getting on board with a new exchange, that ain't gonna happen if the exchange looks like it's been built by a kid in his pants at home. professionalism attracts professionals. these guys look like they have a shot, I poked around the beta and it was decent. they will have an API, they are doing mobile etc etc. They seem to understand the business. It's a long uphill struggle to attract liquidity butv I'll be watching with interest.
