Bitcoin is the first and most popular in crypto money, the leader in the crypto market. I think, if one day Bitcoin is completely banned, the other cryptos will still survive. Only if Bitcoin is banned, Ethereum can take its place.
There are innumerable kinds of alternative cryptocurrencies. However, it is impossible to replace Bitcoin temporarily. Bitcoin has become the value of cryptocurrency. As much as I know bitcoin cannot be banned as has gained a lot of investors and it is used as exchange in some companies or stores and has good management, if it get banned as you said, it will affect most altcoin but I think ethereum will take it place if this happens because it is also a potential coin and it has stable and advanced technology and the blockchain is used by a number of icos for their transaction.
I prefer ethereum and monero after bitcoin. In my opinion, they are the next best projects and investors stand to make a lot of money from them in the long run.

Bitcoin would be destroyed if there is not many people wanting to spend their Fiat for the coin. If that happens then there would not be that much Altcoins surviving in crypto. As we all know,bitcoin is the most famous in digital virtual currency.

After bitcoin, I used to buy Etherium which is very cheap when the market turning red, I always hoard Etherium because I believe on it. Etherium gave me a huge profit last December 2017 which I already encashed it and provide my basic needs and my wants for my family.

Ethereum is very good investment because it is large and leading ICO for many years. ETH is the first block key for use of intellectual contracts in his block chain. It was the first technology which was propagandized media and steel more popular. ETH has big community of users and mini-games. Now most ICO will be mobilized through the intellectual contract ETH platform.
I like iota. in December last year, the capitalization of this coin took 8th place. in mid-December already 5. I think that the prospect is big enough to recover. now it costs quite a bit to buy in the long run.
I don't think bitcoin is the best choice. There are so many other cryptocurrencies with more interesting technologies. My favorite coin is Ethereum.

If bitcoin is banned, I think there is no other coin to replace it for the time being. The entire ecosystem of the encrypted world is based on bitcoin.
