So the FIA decided to give Verstappen a 3 places grid penalty on the next race which will be in Russia two weeks from now.
~
The penalty is a bit too much ~

Thanks for the news, I guess then that I was wrong and it's more Max fault.
Interesting to see that he got bigger penalty than Lewis got at Silverstone. Imho it's not this penalty that's too much, it's the other one that was far too small.

The stubbornness of both drivers was thre biggest reason of the collision and I think it's not the last time that we will see them touch again

I can't agree more. But if this continues, Max will lose fans (me included).
I agree with @boltz that F1 needs - now and then - this kind of drama, but, on the other hand when it's getting too close to getting one or another killed, and it's getting done on purpose, then it's imho too much.

I think that I'd love to see Ricci win again. His happiness is.. contagious  Smiley

The stubbornness of both drivers was thre biggest reason of the collision and I think it's not the last time that we will see them touch again because since Silverstone this was the first time that they were this close to each other in the middle of the race so their must be more of this coning our way.
The collision itself actually reminds me of when Verstappen and ocon collided back in Brazil 2018.
There are better places to overtake and unless you have the upper hand going into the first part of that turn you shouldn't try to squeeze along side when the car ahead likely cannot see you close in.
The penalty is a bit too much but that's the kind of battle people have been asking for for years so take it while it's there i say.

Honestly, I am still not warmed up to the idea of these sprints. FIA is trying to do something that would put a lot more entertainment, after all this is just a race and if no drama happens then it will get boring very quickly. Look at Monaco, how many people actually loves Monaco when there is absolutely no passing or anything, of course there could be some situations where cars crash, or pit makes a mistake and all that but aside from that it is boring, people usually finish where they start.
All those boring stuff, all those "either Max or Hamilton will win, rarely anyone else" situations ended up with a lot of problems for viewership numbers, so FIA tries to find something fresh to give more stuff to viewers. However is it really the sprint that we should be looking for? I mean is it really the sprint that makes the difference? I have to say this is definitely not the thing that makes me watch the race at all, it is the pit strategies that is the most entertaining part aside from what happens on the track.
Sprint qualifying is a great chance to see Verstappen and Hamilton clash again  Grin There is a tendency that these guys are at such stages to sort out the relationship to the last, wheel to wheel. But seriously, we should also be happy that the halo saved Hamilton from very unpleasant consequences that are not fully compatible with life. The whole question is about money. It is no secret that for the audience, the most important days are Saturday, when qualifying takes place, and Sunday, when the race itself takes place. And so the organizers are trying to attract attention also to Friday and thereby earn more money. So far, there have been only two examples of the changed format and some conclusions will need to be made at least at the end of the season.

Nobody would of guessed to see the McLaren boys take 1st & 2nd place at the podium.
Aussie's have their moment to shine in the F1 this race. Grin

Instead, I believe that after seeing yesterday's qualifying some crazy people have been there and have bet on this remote possibility.
As we have already seen yesterday, the Mclaren was the fastest car on the straight, and the others also with DRS and wake effect could not even get close.

Certainly, it was not predictable but in my humble opinion it was not impossible, someone certainly staked a little money on it, maybe even just the fans of the orange squad.
As for the accident, Max has been penalized and Lewis just have to thank the Halo for still being with us.

Next race in Russia, another very fast track with a very long straight, I think Mercedes> Redbull will be there too.

What makes this 1&2 even more epic is the fact that they're having the original color of McLaren car and today where the Helicopter filmed them from above it was simply amazing. I also strongly suggest for everyone to watch the McLaren documentary and I think you will love this team even more.

Awesome race! I'm so glad and happy for McLaren and their podiums and it was hilarious to see the shoey being done again and this time Zak Brown and Norris taste the great champagne of Ricciardo haha.

Regarding the incident between Max and Lewis , lets be fair and admit that Max is reckless and always have been in this way and its clearly his fault today. I was mad at him when he walked near Lewis and did no bother to check him if we was okay as the halo just saved him from serious injured. Today , Max lost a lot of respect from me ...not that he had much.

Max was reckless and even hopped the curb at one point inwhich to overtake a driver earlier on.
But taking the corner and having Hamilton in like that? It was purely reckless and uncalled for.
If his wheel hit Lewis helmet, it would of caused his neck to snap backwards and kill him instantly.
After watching the replay several times you can see his tire coming close to grazing it and with that spin on the wheels it would not be something you will want to see.
Very poor decision on Max's part.

Yeah, Lewis' fans use to forget how "nice" he is. One example I remember, when Lewis crashed into Alex Albon in 2019.
Should I also mention the British GP, when Lewis almost killed Max and got only a time penalty?

Imho Lewis is desperate lately that his car is no longer that much better than the others', hence he does the dirty games more often.
But that's me. I have no respect for Lewis for many years, exactly because he does this kind of car crash games when they suit him well and he usually also gets away with minor penalties, if any.

So let's just be happy today for McLaren and hope that Lewis, or Max, or their teams find a way to avoid getting somebody hurt.

But I'm a Leclerc fan and not even a Mercedes fan as I like McLaren as a team and Leclerc as a pilot. In case you wanted to start an argument ...well I'm not a fan of Lewis nor Max, I just love F1 and that is what I saw today with Max being guilty but F1 needs a story like this one as long as no one gets injured.  Cool

Holy moly, this GP is definitely my favorite this year! Seeing Ricciardo winning a pole position on F1 can definitely boost his confidence in driving. But I do think we should also give credit to Bottas. He was at P19 and ended in P3. He's just really consistent and I am definitely excited to see him in Alfa Romeo this 2022.

When I saw the crash between Lewis and Max, I knew that this would be my favorite GP. The level of competitiveness that those two provide are just unparalleled from what I have seen over the few years!

Crazy race - yet again. And the McLaren 1-2 was basically impossible to predict  Cheesy

The Max-Lewis fight is getting too intense, and I'm afraid that if this continues somebody will get hurt. I won't say that it was this or that fault, I'll say that both were at fault. It looked to me that maybe Max has also tried to demonstrate that he too can can put the other's life at risk for simple math.
Yeah the was very entertaining there were few collisions and touches between drivers while overtaking which is made it interesting to see.
Riccardo Start was phenomenal and i think even with both leaders taking out themselves Ricciardo will still got the win and Norris 2nd.
Verstapoen was going to gain points over Hamilton in this race but the mistake that made by RBR team while pitting made him lose a lot of time which got him to join Hamilton just right back to him and that led to them cash at the first turn they were next to each other for the first time in the Race.
If that incident didn't happend we would got a more amazing race where we were going to see both trying to overtake each other for the second half of the race.

Was just able to tune in after having attending Sunday things so missed out of the start of this megarace and man what a shocker when I turned it on.
Both Max and Lewis are out of this one since they collided.
Only got to see beginning at lap 29 so not even half way through and both of the best drivers and favorites to win the Italian track are out. They were just getting the safety car off the track.
Absolutely the scenes! Lucky for Hamilton there is that safety halo behind the headrest there for this very reason. Embarrassed

It must of just happened because on F1's twitter feed they posted it about 5 minutes ago, when I switched on the race.

Now this gets interesting. Wink

I think we will see a scenario similar to Ferrari when Charles Leclerc first Joined Ferrari he didn't make it to Vettel that he is there to competing to be the number1 or he is going to be his wingman.
His results made him speak for himself finishing better than his teammates Vettel at the end of his first season not with much point difference but still he announced himself that season and in the next one Vettel was poorly underperformed due that he was told to be let go at the start of the season.
It's not going to be 100 percent the same because Toto Wolf is not Mattia Benotto and Vettel is not as cool with things as Hamilton so again Russel need to make results that speaks for itself, and maybe Hamilton gets in his mind that this is the end of the road for him and time to let someone else get to the spotlight.
All of these depend on how Hamilton Performs in the coming days. Because if Hamilton is in his prime and he keeps doing better than Russell, I don't see any chance Russell gets to be the main man. But if Russell can prove himself worthy that he can be better than Hamilton, well we are gonna be up for an insane competition in between the two.
I somehow fear that if Russel gets the momentum, he may be able to outperform Lewis in some races, thus potentially creating a tension between the two. This also kinda reminds me on how Lewis and Nico started as friends but ended up as rivals until Nico's retirement. Though while the idea might be far-fetched, there is still that possibility of that situation happening again.

Considering the form Hamilton is in, it will be really hard for Russell to catch up to him. And even if I am to consider it an option that Russell will catch up to Hamilton, this is an incident of the far future. Hamilton is a better driver than Russell, and he will outperform Russell as he did with Bottas.

Anyone watched the sprint Race, it turned out to be a gain for Verstappen,
Totto wolf Planned aheaf that after the starting lap when it's safe for Bottas to switch positions with Hamilton only for Hamilton to have a bad start and gets overtaked buy his Competitor and both Maclaren cars that held him back using the same Power Unit that Mercedes provides.
So with the results of this sprint race they gave us a hint over what we are going to see on raceday Vertsappen going to be most likely the winner unless they make mistakes with pitting.

Yes, I saw the sprint race. Verstappen having the first grid is an advantage for him, and Hamilton having a bad start was crucial in Verstappen winning the race. If Hamilton can work on his mistake, we might be able to watch an eye-pleasing Hamilton vs Verstappen matchup. Don't put everything on Verstappen. Wait till the raceday and watch Hamilton crush him.

Watched it only because it was a short one hence the naming of it. Only a race of 18 laps so it was done in 25-30 minutes.
Because we had awhile without EPL and it being back had more focus for the matches I had other interests on at the same duration of those 30 minutes. Smiley
But Bottas did his darndest to keep Hamilton and Verstappen at bay. Alas the dutchman did get pole even though Bottas won it. Cheesy

No wonder he wants to leave Mercedes because as I had mentioned before, they do want him to be the sacrificial lamb and take one for the team.
