What do you think about Piastri the rookie on his first season in Formula 1?

I think that he did a pretty good job with McLaren this season. After getting used to the car we started to see really good performances from him. He even won a sprint race I mean. This is a really solid start for a rookie. Of course Norris was way ahead of him in the driver standings at the end of the season. But I don't find this gap bad for Piastri as this was his first season.

In addition McLaren bring new updates to Norris' car first so Piastri generally has a slower car.
It was the best rookie season since Hamilton. I think it says a lot. Mclaren had difficult start of season, but how they improved later is impressive. And when you see how Piastri performed, he didn't looked like rookie as he didn't made mistakes which are common for newbies.
In other news, Williams extended contract with Logan Sargeant:
https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/article.breaking-f1-grid-for-2024-complete-as-williams-retain-sargeant-after-rookie.73Rs275h5uXFk17AD7AwqE.html
It's a bit unexpected for me. He wasn't awful, but when you have Albon as teammate, who overperformerd with very average car, it's difficult to impress. And after all, it was his rookie season, maybe it's good that Williams aren't acting like Red Bull and giving time for driver.
So, 2024 lineup is confirmed and we don't have any changes from 2023 season - I barely can remember such cases. Seems that off-season will be boring without much rumours.

I was surprised with that news related to Sargeant and Williams to tell the truth. Because in my opinion Sargeant was really bad compared to Albon. I mean he was like continuing from where Latifi left.  Grin  He was one of the drivers who cost their team a lot of money due to crashes as well. When it comes to head-to-heads with Albon in qualifying sessions there is a huge gap between two drivers too. After seeing a this big gap I thought Williams would like to look for a new second driver.

But Sargeant still continues. However he had better improve his performance next season. Because probably this would be his last season at the team if he maintains the same thing.

I believe that Oscar Piastri had one of the best rookie seasons for sure, however that also causes a little bit of a problem for the team at the same time. Team does like Piastri, him coming here was a whole problem as you may know because it was an issue with another team I forgot which team but that team claimed they had the rights for Piastri and eventually it happened and he is there and that's fine.

The problem they may have is that Piastri is awesome right now, and Lando Norris may feel quite upset about it, not because piastri is great, but he has shown the world how Norris isn't all that much of a big deal, given enough good cars then even Piastri as a rookie did fine, Norris been there for many many years since he was a kid, and he is still having hard time beating Piastri. That's an issue, Norris may feel depressed that he is not dominating a rookie teammate, and if the next season starts with Piastri doing better, that's going to be quite terrible for Norris.

Yeah, one team winning 21 races from 22, one driver winning 19 of 22 races, now it looks that such records is here to stay forever, unless they will make 30 GP season. But I hope that these records won't be beaten because such dominance just isn't good for F1

The record will be improbably beaten soon but it may happen.

In F1 is always the same thing, every 4-5 years they will change cars, so if a team finds a loophole it can win for the entire season.
Same with their drivers. There will no doubt be some movement on the off season especially with Ricciardo and Tsunoda since they both impressed and could of done alot better in a different car than an Alpha Tauri.

If a rookie does as well as Oscar did in his first season, another team might want to scoop him up if they will allow the one seeking to buy out his contract with McLaren. But from what I remember they have him now in a multi-year contract til the end of 2026 signed back at the end of September.

What a year for Max.
All the records have been destroyed, it will be hard to beat all that he has done.

We need to wait the time when we will have 30 GP per year  Grin

Zak Brown the CEO of McLaren has a good explanation of why the 24 GP is enough for F1 and more than that is surely too much for the F1 to take if you suggest a 30 GP for sure I think you should hear what Zak Brown has to say I think RDbase have posted the video in here is the link, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VfYGMkZnQ_I

For sure 30 Grand Prix in 1 season will surely cover a lot and will also cover December month and the F1 could start in an early month for sure instead of February they will start the race in January and that will be a lot of money consuming for sure,

Now that the F1 is finished with their Calendar it will be another long wait for us to witness another F1 Race for sure, and while we are waiting I have news on the F1 Academy, for sure I want to cover this up in this thread as this is included in the F1 aswell, for sure Bianca Bustamante is now representing McLaren, right now there are 2 new F1 Academy racers that will represent the team in the F1 and that is Lia Block will be joining the F1 Academy grid with the Williams and Tina Hausmann to represent Aston Martin in the F1 Academy, this coming 2024,

I don't know if there was any season in which Hamilton was this highly dominant. Verstappen broke many records in this season first of all. There were only 3 races in the whole season which he couldn't win. I wonder if he ever got bored of winning all the time.  Grin  But why would he get bored, right? He must have enjoyed one of the fastest cars in F1 history. I was always thinking that W11 was the fastest car of all time. But now I'm not sure about that. RB19 deserves a good comparison to W11.

I think that Red Bull won't surprise us about domination next season as well. Toto Wolff has plans to get closer to them but I don't know if he really can for now.

Does anyone know the final results for Formula One Superbru leaderboard?
It is saying for very long time to check but in few minutes, but nothing is happening.
I know that I didnt win one of top ten places, unless someone failed big time this round, but I wanted to see all the winners and losers.

Verstappen was so dominant this season, there is big gap between him and other players, Red Bull did the same thing for Teams.
Next season other teams really need to make big changes and improvements.
Checked the results late last night and came up fine. The prizes were already handed out for the winners yesterday.
So if you are still having problems it could be the app and just need to reload it on your phone.
The winners who placed had already claimed and the username ILuckyGuyI won the yellow cap got the Williams grid pass prize pack from Steve.
Looking at the spots you got 17th and not eligible for a prize as I got 13th so not getting one too.
Mosala won by 1.5 points ending with 279.5 with ILuckyGuyI in second with 278.00 points.
So a very close leaderboard in the F1 forum pool.

I think Sportsbet.io was pleased with the outcome and the results from all who participated and will be holding one for next season.
So only a little over 93 days to go until we have F1 again.

Only thing interesting in final race of season was fight between Mercedes and Ferrari for 2nd place in constructors trophy. It looked that Leclerc sitting in car acted smarter than whole his team when he let Perez to overtake him. But it wasn't enough for them as Perez didn't managed to make 5 secoonds gap from Russel and Mercedes.
There was lot of drivers who were under investigation for pitcrew infringements, but there will be no penalties that potentially can change race results. It was all about pit crew not wearing eye protection https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/six-f1-drivers-under-investigation-for-abu-dhabi-gp-pitcrew-infringements/10552153/

Qualifying is starting soon in the final race of the season for the Abu Dhabi GP!

Think I saw an interview with Verstappen yesterday after the first practice session about this new rule for this race:
https://www.racefans.net/2023/11/25/f1-drivers-banned-from-overtaking-in-pit-exit-tunnel-during-qualifying/

It was a typical Verstappen when his opponent was not exiting the pit because of the rules and for sure this is a game of patience Verstappen is now waiting for anyone that will be exiting the pit lane as he can not overtake them but for sure a strategy of drivers on the pit lane was t forcefully slow down and force the driver to overtake them to get a penalty that was one major set back for that rule, or is there also a rule on drivers on the pit exiting? for sure I don't know the main rules or most rules for sure,

Looks like another win for Max.

If they will not crush on turn 1, I can't see anyone fighting with him.

Actually not looking good for the other F1 team and drivers because Max Verstappen is really hard to stop or he is still in domination he is already champion for this season but he is not giving up on giving the points to the others driver or team, the domination of Max Verstappen still continues, for sure Lewis Hamilton on the interview that he is worried for next year because this is not a great year for Mercedes,

And so the Dominant Dutchman wins his 19th for this season, for sure that was a world record to behold for Max Verstappen, and now that the season ends I am also missing the F1 right now,

I really wasnt expecting this good race, i think it gonna be a bad race, but ended up being one of the best race of the season, what do you think?.

Very bad luck for some drivers, Leclerc and Hamilton for example, about Mercedes they really have a good pace, but the crashes and problems destroy their race.

About Verstappen, i have to say the FIA is very soft against him, the first turn incident was his pure fault as always he push Leclerc off the track, and they give 5 seconds very late, when the correct one was give the position back.
Yeah, it was one of the best races this season. I also was sceptical about Las Vegas, but seems that prejudice isn't good thing. That Leclerc overtake against Perez cherry on top. Interesting how it would ended if Vertappen would helped Perez to defend. But as we saw again, it's not worth to expect such things from Max as he isn't team player.
Wouldn't say that FIA is soft against Max, it's more about how rules are made. Teams with faster cars can afford getting such penalties because for them isn't difficult to gain 5 second advantage and avoid being penalised. If they would impose let's say 30 seconds penalty, similar duration like stop & go penalty, then we would see different image I think.

True! I also think this was the best race of the season and I'm already missing F1. A bit sad for McLaren because both cars had potential for a podium finish today but the strategy simply wasn't good for them + the pit mistake that cost Norris at least  5 seconds.... .

Also , this was the last season of Sauber with this name and this name will be missed in F1 for sure but it was also time for Peter Sauber to look for a proper investor who could make Sauber brand bigger than it is now.

The race is just about done with around 20 laps to go with Max & Perez in 1st and 2nd place.
What else would it be but a Red Bull podium to show their dominance of the season in which they had already won several races ago in the constructors and the drivers leaderboard.
The surprise is seeing Yuki Tsunoda in third place. Both the McLarens were in the top 5 for most of the race but have since dropped to 6th and 10th. Now not too sure if they will finish with the top drivers now.

Alot of race left to go for this race which back in 2021 had a final lap surprise to stun Hamilton out of winning the championship. So we will have to see if the same takes place.

In the last race of the season, there are battles between teams and drivers. The most important thing is whether ferrari or mercedes will take the second place. As of the qualifying rounds, the advantage is still on mercedes' side. Sainz, Alonso, Norris, Leclerc are within 12 points of each other. Apart from mercedes and ferrari, the struggle between drivers continues. We have witnessed a historic season and dominance. Although the dominance of rbr and max reduced the competitive enjoyment of the season, it was nice to watch such a historic season. Apart from singapore, we have seen an almost faultless team-driver duo. We have seen similar to this with the mercedes hamilton duo between 2014-2020 (mercedes dominated the 2016 season, but the champion was rosberg). Hopefully next season will be a more competitive season.

Great way to close out the season with a retrospective of how it went by each team principle from some teams of the F1 on CNBC:
McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown talks putting fans at the center of his F1 team’s strategy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VfYGMkZnQ_I

For sure McLaren CEO Zak Brown is really doing his job religiously, and for the McLaren team the fans surely have a voice but not a vote, the fans can sometimes manage to vote because of their voice, I really think this is a great way in communicating with the Fans and this is McLaren's priority as the Fans are keeping the sports and business alive, for sure and finishing the interview Zak Brown also added that the number of race is 24 which is OK with the number of calendars, while there are demands for a 30 race season but it is too much for the management of F1 as F1 is a global sport and the race will take place in different countries and holding a race is just that expensive for sure,
