Request: make it more obvious why "place order" doesn't work. Highlight "out of funds" in red or something"

New version with simplified and improved sales page coming out late tonight or maybe tomorrow.

Update:

So PayPal didn't credit our deposit today which is why the site still indicates no funds.  Sometimes their estimate is not correct and there isn't much we can do but wait.  Will provide an update once PayPal funds are available.

I should have known PayPal would make me look like a fool.  No sooner did I post this and the funds clear.  PayPal funds available!

Once our next bullion delivery arrives we will be adding 1 oz Credit Suisse bars to the Canadian Maple leaf rounds we offer.

The main advantage of the 1oz Credit Suisse bars () have a lower coinage cost than the 1oz Canadian Maple Leafs (). If you are just want the lowest premium to the spot price then the Credit Suisse bars will save you about 900 mBTC per troy ounce.

Important Update:

  • Overnight ACH (not to be confused with normal ACH) will be discontinued.  The last day to request payout by Overnight ACH will be 1/17.  After 6PM EST on 1/17 the overnight ACH option will be removed from the sell page.  At this time Bank Of America was our only provider of Overnight ACH services.  None of our other banking partners currently offer this service and we are unsure if we will be able to offer it in the future.

Overnight ACH is still an option on the sell pages.  Did you find another provider for this, or was it mistakenly left on as an option?

That option will be removed.  It isn't currently possible to place an Overnight ACH order, the order page will prevent it as the available funds are permanently set to zero. There are some other changes coming which should make the sales order page clearer.

There has been a delay in issuing PayPal payments.  Our login used for mass disbursement has been locked for security reasons.  The account is not frozen.  PayPal detected multiple attempted unauthorized logins and locked the login.  For security reasons we have chosen to not allow login unlocks by email so it requires a delay and authentication offline.  There is no risk to company funds.  Using our limited access login I have verified that there has been no unauthorized disbursements and the account balance matches our internal records.  We use two factor authentication to protect our PayPal and exchange accounts for this reason.

In speaking with PayPal corporate support, login access for fund disbursement to be restored within the hour.

Update:
PayPal is out of funds.  More funds should be available tomorrow (2/6).  The exact time is unknown because PayPal posting seems to vary a lot.

We have been looking.  It is difficult to find irreversible funding methods which are accessible to the general public.  Those that do exist tend to have large barriers to entry.
Aren't bank deposits (Wells Fargo and BoA) one such choice?

Not particularly.  They are time intensive and often new users need assistance.  I was thinking more "retail".  Like a moneypak but for Bitcoins.  "Consumer proof".  Buy, get a card.  Nothing more complicated then that.  If we don't do it, someone will eventually.  It is the only thing which will bring transaction costs down to less than 1%.
