To summarize everything, it was great 3 weeks of basketball. Many upsets, amazing individual performances of superstars. Unfortunately, things got ruined be terrible mistakes of referees and poor my country performance.
If you want to re-live some emotions, I suggest to watch this recap:

Wow, that's the faster way to watch the Eurobasket, and even the streamer talking in the video noticed the questionable calls made by the referees.
Not that it's difficult to notice but this means many viewers now are also knowledgeable about the rules of basketball which I think is good.
This will push the officials to do their job better next time. They now know many eyes are also looking at them so every whistle should be right.

Lots of behind the scene that we didn't see. Coaches' passion for the game. Incredible.

Next international tournament is World Cup 2023 in Japan, Indonesia and Philippines. And clubs basketball already starts in upcoming weeks.
August 25. Will definitely watch these games too and make some bets of course.  Cheesy

14 wins and 15 losses. It's not bad. I didn't even feel a loss in my budget for this league. Actually, there may be little profit because of the high odds given to underdogs.

Interesting stuff, thanks for sharing. It would be interesting to check my stats, but I'm a bit lazy to dig in my bets history Cheesy.

For perhaps the first time in a long time, Spain has managed to win a tournament where they were not a heavy favourite. Coming here as an underdog and becoming a champion is truly a great achievement. We can say that the movie Hustle has come true. Juancho Hernangomez played the match of his life. Again with the brothers, Spain was victorious. The Gasols are gone, the Hernangomezs are here.
The final match was exciting, but I can't say the same about the competition. Spain always took the lead. France reduced the difference to 3 points, but after the timeout, Spain opened the lead again. They managed to control the entire match. Congratulations to Spain for this well-deserved win. They were the best playing team of the tournament.

You're right Spain deserved this win, and it's really impressive that they were able to win gold medals without the Gasol brothers. As for the final match itself, I'm not particularly impressed with France's performance, especially Gobert's. It seems to me that Gobert could have had a significant impact on the outcome of the final match. However, that didn't happen as Gobert only scored 6 points and grabbed 6 rebounds even though he played almost 30 minutes.

So I have some time to check all the results of my bets after the Eurobasket and I want to share them with you guys.
It's arranged as:
Game - My bet - End Score - Result
~snip~
14 wins and 15 losses. It's not bad. I didn't even feel a loss in my budget for this league. Actually, there may be little profit because of the high odds given to underdogs.
The experience though will be my background for the next league. I think that was the important part.
It sure was something entertaining and I will be looking forward to seeing more talented players.

Not bad at all, at least you are on the profit side unlike me who never won on my four bets  Embarrassed.

I should have trusted Bo Cruz and the rest of Spain, could have won big as they are the underdog most of the time, especially on the tail end of the league.

Yup, the experience is priceless as you already knew whom to beat next year or the year after but we should also be careful as this might work against us, you know what I meant. Serbia for sure will bounce back as well as Greece and Spain might be eliminated early in the tournament and we are betting heavily on them as that time they will be the favorite most of the time as they are the Euro FIBA '22 champion.

This year's Euro basket was full of surprises from start to finish. Luckily I was able to pick my bets carefully and was able to avoid most of the games, especially the upsets. In the end, nobody from the favorite countries like Serbia, Slovenia, Greece, and France became the champion.

Kudos to the French team for achieving second place. I really thought they were done with winning close games but showing the Poles how really dominant they are but they came up short against the Spaniards.

Congratulations to Spain for becoming the new champion. It was a very tough journey as an underdog. Well deserved win.

Spain is Kings of Europe again. Spain dominated game from first minutes till the end, at one point leading by more than 20 points. France made comeback in end of 2nd half - beginning of 3rd, but Spain still managed to control game. Juancho Hernangomez, aka Bo Cruz is MVP of final with 27 points and incredible 7 of 9 3pointers made (77% accuracy). His brother Willy becomes MVP of tournament.
Referees today didn't decided winners, but they worked terrible today and in whole tournament. That ghost foul against Brown when nobody didn't touched him and he simply slipped shows level of referees in a nutshell.
3rd place game was not very exciting. Germany controlled game as expected, though respect for Poland for making comeback and keeping close till the end.First Germany medal since 2005 and after Nowitzki era. Now they oficially returned to basketball elite.
Don't forget the 24 seconds violation call around 32 - 33 minute of the game where Spain coach got a technical foul also. It was so obvious that Spain's ball touched the rim and they got the rebound, refs thought it didn't touch the rim. Spain was too much ahead and was dominating so it didn't matter too much but if France could come back in those moments, it would be an important mistake that can affect the game. The refs in this tournament was something else. We don't see this many mistakes in Euroleague.

Despite almost all of the expectations, Spain managed to get the cup. I think it is an especially big accomplishment. Hernangomez brothers did an amazing job. Congratulations to Spain for yet another championship. Their golden generation is retired and they are building a new generation so one might think that they need time. But no, they are winning again. Amazing.

Now the Germany - Poland match for the 3rd place has odds like these. It looks like I won't be able to hold myself back from betting on Poland one last time.  Grin  The 7.00 odd is very tempting and I wouldn't have much to lose unless I bet on with a lot of money in the end. I'm aware of how great shooters Germany have but maybe they would surprise us in this one after losing their title chance.
They got close but Dennis Schroder exploded in the last quarter.
Luckily, I caught some good bets in total score and I didn't even notice I already took one early and then another after the first quarter of the game of Germany vs Poland when I saw how low the score is.

I had a hard time deciding what team to bet for because the spreads were -12.5 for Germany. Shockingly, it did cover so for those who took it, congratulations.
Referees today didn't decided winners, but they worked terrible today and in whole tournament. That ghost foul against Brown when nobody didn't touched him and he simply slipped shows level of referees in a nutshell.
There are actually a lot of questionable calls that I saw and I think referees and even their officials and Fiba management should take a look at it.
Making the league better is the purpose for doing so and it could clear some questions the coaches have. Check if the call was a bit biased or if it was just an honest mistake.
Especially at the "unsportsmanlike" call, where sometimes players are getting away with it, making it look like they are playing the ball.

Congratulations to Spain.

Odds at over 2.5 seems pretty decent to me so I'm taking Spain for the Finals. They didn't make a lot of buzz or noise unlike those countries with superstars but I think they are the most resilient as a team in this tournament. I think they can handle the Gobert tower with good ball movement.
But the offensive end on France roster was fairly distributed as well, they're good on ball movements too. For me, I think France with healthy Yabusele, Gobert, and Fournier will be a difficult feat for Spain's national team to win this Final. They are a threat both on the defensive and offensive stuff,
Well Spain had the better offense in the first half and never took their foot off the pedal.

Quote
.... the recent win they have with Poland with that much deficit is something to be honest.
I didn't really expect Poland to win that game after their comeback against Slovenia so I'm not really that impressed how France won.

There are many of us who thought they were really lucky in their earlier games that's another why I believed Spain will dominate them in the Finals.

^Finland exhausted their energy in the first half. They had a good lead until Spain started doing a suffocating defense in the 2nd half.
Rudy Fernandez. Damn old man's energy was in the spotlight from a suicidal ball save to avoid a turnover and highlight steals that changed the pace of the game in favor of Spain.
Then the Hail Mary 3-point shot put the last nail in the coffin.
Did I hear it right, this will be his last season in Eurobasket.
I cannot get over this match. First half was crazy as Finland scored 52 points against Spain and absolutely played marvellously. I really liked their offensive style and they shot really good from the three point line. But I agree with your point that they exhausted their energy and also Spain really started to play good in the second half. Spain's defense worked quite good and when Finland started to shoot bad, it was inevitable that Spain would win the game. Also Willy Hernangomez dunked like 5-6 times which was just devastated for Finland.

I actually paid a subscription service for this Eurobasket and I am very satisfied with my choice. It has been a great tournament. We have seen a lot of surprises. I was expecting the 3 big NBA superstars - Giannis, Doncic and Jokic- to advance more in the tournament but the beauty of basketball showed us that most of the time, being a good team is better than having superstars. Even though we have seen amazing performances by these NBA players, it was not enough. For example, Germany defended Giannis with 5 players at times and even though Giannis had a good statistics at that game, it wasn't enough for a win.

I am at loss of who is favourite in the final game. Both teams have shown great results so far. But France seems like a more all-round team and more experienced. Although, Spain is Spain and it will not be a surprise if they win. I am betting on France though.

Yes, it's tempting but the risk is higher too when you think about Poland being the underdogs and they are up against France who is not going to give it up that easy even if Poland is having a great night.
I think my +10 will hit but I am doubting the win. It's a good bet though if you are the high-risk taker type of a gambler.
Just for information, if Poland won by 11+ the profits are @14.94. In case it happens we know how much it is.

Luckily, yesterday I input a bet for Over 157.5 total score on Poland vs France. Now it changed to 158.5 with the same winning amount.

Sometimes I like to give risky choices a chance. Poland win seemed somehow logical to go for it. But my bet failed really hard.  Grin  I'm not regretful though because their very big win against Slovenia helped me believe in them to make another surprise here. Of course their chance wasn't very much against a team full of talented players. France had really solid NBA players like Gobert and Fournier also in the end.

Now the Germany - Poland match for the 3rd place has odds like these. It looks like I won't be able to hold myself back from betting on Poland one last time.  Grin  The 7.00 odd is very tempting and I wouldn't have much to lose unless I bet on with a lot of money in the end. Today is big day, final of Eurobasket 2022 between France and Spain. If France were one of favorites before tournament, maybe not the main one, it was difficult to expect that Spain will reach final. I don't support any of these teams, I'm going to enjoy final as neutral spectator, but I think that both teams deserved to win trophy.
I am not a fan of both teams either, but I would like to bet for France here as I have seen their motivation after defeating Poland at a huge number.
They didn't even need to defend too well when the lead was unreachable and yet they still did to prove how strong their team is.
Let's see what the Hernangomez brothers can bring to stop France. Both players are good at attacking the paint but with a tower like Gobert inside it will be difficult to get a good shot.

In Bronze medal game I don't see much chances for Poland, with all respect. Despite loss in semifinal, Germany should be extremely motivated, it's chance for them to win first medal since 2005 and they have chance to do it at home soil.
This sure will be for Germany, the only strategy is to put a lot of pressure on Poland's guards and they will start to break. Not that I underestimate them but that's what France did and it stopped them from scoring.

I really didn't expect such poor performance from Poland. In the end, they defeated one of the favourites in the previous round by 90-87. Slovenia are a better team than France in the end so I was expecting another competitive game between Poland and France. But France dominated all quarters and won by an absurd score like 95-54. There was no player who got 10+ points at Poland. I wonder what was the reason behind their playing this much ineffective after fighting with everything they had against Slovenia. Every player at France scored points by the way which was like a dream for them. Yabusele was the most scorer with 22 points.
Nothing surprising about Poland. Maybe 41 points is a bit too big loss, but it was easy to expect that they will lose by at least 20 points. Look at their squad, they don't have any NBA and Euroleague players, it's difficult to expect that they will overperfrom two games in a row against elite teams. It seemed like Slovenia understimated Poland in beginning and also Poland players probably weren't able to recover full after this game.

interesting tournament is coming to an end, and France vs Spain will decide European champion
looking plays so far, I would go with Spain, France has better players, but Spain does resemble a better team IMO

Germany should win over Poland, that somehow reached final stage, but they should not be able to get medal

not sure why there is no placement matches? for places below fourth

Didnt expect any of these team to be in the final maybe in the semi finals. Slovakia and Serbia that were the main favorites got knocked out early so this opened the places to an easy final for these two teams. It will be a really close final but i think France will win it

The final game is on Sunday and France are favoured by a 1.62 odd. However their job isn't going to be easy against Spain. Both of these teams were on the brink of being eliminated before. For example Spain also managed to eliminate Lithuania by OT. I expect a very close game here and we might see an OT as well. It has an odd like 8.60 which might be worth trying with some money. When it comes to the winner, I expect France to be the champions.

If you check the statistics of that match, you'll see that Poland had a poor field goal percentage while France had 62.1%. So I guess one of the main reasons for Poland's poor performance was that France was able to defend well throughout the match. As for the final of EuroBasket, I also expect it will be another close game, and I wouldn't underestimate Spain.

Actually there was a system like this until the Eurobasket 2013. There were placement matches for the 5th and 7th places as well. But they have restricted this system to the 3rd place the least since the Eurobasket 2015. Maybe the reason might be that there wasn't much interest for the 5th and 7th placement matches. In the end people are more curious about the places close to the 1st.

After watching Poland this much weak against France it made me also think like Germany could tear them apart as well. Germany have great sharp-shooters that can cause Poland to give up on their hopes earlier in the match. But their odd is 1.10 so it's not worth placing a bet on. I'd rather try my luck by betting on Poland @7.00.  Cheesy

Who's your pick on France vs Spain mate? I'm more inclined to bet for France as their defense is more solid but this FIBA Euro Cup is very unpredictable so I may tail you on your pick hehe. I'm yet to win on this Euro Cup, lost my 3 bets already.
You gave me an idea here actually.  Cheesy
I may go for France too and the spreads were not that bad. -2.5 for France with 1.79 profits if hit. You could stretch it at -4.5 to receive 2.06 which I think can be covered as long as they play that better like what they did with Poland.

Germany vs Poland. It's obvious who will win, it's just a matter of how much handicap can be covered.
Right now I do see -11.5 but I may wait before the game starts if ever there will be changes.
