In my opinion, the most interesting match that will occur is going to be the one between France and England, as both teams have really good squad depth and players within their squads. It is my opinion that I would give the edge to England, as they have played really consistently throughout the season and have been playing well as a team. There has been an exceptional level of performance from Phil Folden, in particular. France might suffer a little setback if Karim Benzema is injured as they have lost a key player in the form.

I think that Goncalo Ramos proved that he deserves a place in the first team with the scores against Switzerland. I really hope he gets to start the game in the quarter final because coach should bring younger players to the game. Players like Ronaldo shouldn't have a guaranteed place in the first eleven just because they are famous. I'm not saying that Ronaldo is playing bad. But one goal in three games of the group round is much less than anyone expected from him. It will be interesting to see which players will the coach choose to start the game.

Shocking and sooner to see Eden Hazard retired from international football following Belgium world cup group stage exits. That means he will now focus his full view on the his club team, real madrid. It's rather bad news to some of his teammates as they will missed him on the pitch. I wasn't surprised by Spain's exit, but not at this point in the round of 16. Despite some slight modifications to their squad, they still have a powerful team to reckon with and go further than this in the World Cup. Let me just wish them success next time, although they did their best to advance far than this in this World Cup. Spain were one of the favourites to go all the way offered at 8/1, and their opening game 7-0 thrashing of Costa Rica certainly demonstrated their ability to create and score goals. But going into the game against Japan, they couldn’t penetrate or create enough chances and that was how I knew that there would be problem facing this Moroccan team that had conceded only one goal. Well.. this was one thing that I never understood during this world cup. Surprisingly the tactic worked, with Portugal getting their biggest win in the tournament so far. And Switzerland is not a very weak team. Still they went down by 1-6. But then, Morocco doesn't have anything to lose. No one really expected them to progress to the pre-quarter final stage, and that too in such a tough group. They were placed along with Croatia and Belgium, but still managed to finish at the top of Group F with 7 points (2 wins and 1 draw).
