I agree with you that there is no favorite in the Netherlands-USA match. The USA played well against England and Wales and were able to defeat not weak Iran. The Netherlands had no problems in the group either. They won two matches against Qatar and Senegal, which guaranteed their exit from the group. But judging by their play, they have a lot of problems and don't know how they will perform in the game against the United States. If the Netherlands will play like they did against Ecuador, there is a chance that the USA can win.

The biggest threat the United States will have in their goal will be Gakpo who has been on good form and is currently one of the highest goal scorers in this competition, If their defense can put him under lock and ensure he doesn't get enough of the ball to get creative, they can actually reduce the scoring chance for Netherlands. I believe USA can win, there is a good fighting spirit with the team that we saw on their journey to this point, the United states have my bet to win.

I wasn't surprised with Cameroon's scoring a goal against Brazil because they were already in need of a win and Brazil already guaranteed qualifying for next round as well. Brazil still showed a good performance by not just letting Cameroon have a comfortable match. Aboubakar is a really interesting guy by the way. Grin

Right after he scored the goal he just took off his shirt while celebrating it. This resulted in a second yellow and a red card after that. Just imagine how he would have been disappointed about doing this if they managed to qualify for next round.

Today, Argentina are the absolute favourite so I don't expect any surprise in that match. I expect them to even win by at least two goals and Messi to score at the same time. But for the Netherlands - USA match, it is hard to trust anything. Netherlands are favoured maybe but their odd is not that low. The World Cup tournament this year has been exciting as well as surprising.
Teams seem as underdogs in the competition has gone ahead and surprised so called top teams. The Netherlands is a string football nation and the match with the United States shouldn’t be a hassle for them. But we may be surprised as the US has played surprisingly well in this tournament and knocked out all their opponents to survive to this stage of the tournament. Ordinarily, the Netherlands looks good on paper but I haven’t got a clue as to who would win.
Argentina on the other hand, looks more favorable to win the game against Australia but the match between Japan and Spain has reminded me that with football, anything is possible.

We have already seen so many unexpected results and surprises at this world championship that it is very difficult to predict what will happen next in this competition.
Who could have really expected that Germany, Belgium, Denmark or Uruguay would be eliminated already after the group stage of the competition?
Italy did not even qualify for this world championship, and Asia has three representatives in the round of 16.

Brazil did what France did by giving the remaining players on their bench a chance to play in the World Cup tournament, which resulted in both Brazil and France losing and preventing both of them from having a 100% performance by winning all nine points in the group games.
Nonetheless, they both lead their groups and have given the remaining teams in the group a chance to score at least one goal in the tournament.
All we have to worry about now is the next round, which I am sure will be a tough one because all of the teams that have qualified thus far have met their respective opponents.

I think that underdog teams that surprised all of us did that by attacking and not only defending their goal. I guess it's a recipe on how to beat a team that is better "on paper". Of course, a team should concentrate on defense too. The key thing is to be active on the field and that forward players are involved in the defense too. The team that manages to play like that can win against stronger teams. We have seen how Japan played the second half against Spain.
