The problem is that there are no teams in Asia or Africa who can compete with the western or South American teams and beat them in the all important fifa world cup. Also if we see the total number of teams that qualify for the world cup, the majority of them are from Europe and South Amercians.

To me Senegal can retain back the trophy, their performance in the recent Afcon and world cup qualifiers was outstanding. Though Nigeria recently have the best squad in Africa, but I don't see them winning the trophy, Senegal are more focused than Nigeria during game play, their recent bears it out.
Senegal truly displayed impressive play during the last AFCON to win their first-ever AFCON cup. But this shouldn't automatically qualify them to win the world cup, and the first win in a cup doesn't have to exonerate the nation from being lucky unless they display the performance more often. I have to admit this time Brazil is a strong candidate for the world cup champion. They have a lot of talented players, especially players who each play for teams in the English league, their attack line is very strong, maybe the coach will be a little confused in making his choice. While it will be great to see, it is just my speculation, and it is what we do not expect that may happen, as an unexpected country may win it this year, one thing i will do is to enjoy the tournament despite who wins it.
