It's not just "lucky factor".
Every time England start a competition as if they are the super favorites, [an example was in the last europeans of 2020 in which they lost (at home) against italy] but they haven't won an international competition since 1966!
Among other things penalties are always a negative point in their performance... also in 2020 they lost for the same reason.

France is a much more "compact and well-known" team.
no surprise they arrived at this stage even during this competition.

I can't really say the semi final will be a easy one for Morroco, but I think it won't really be a easy one for France also, Morroco have being surprising everyone, nobody believe that they will go this far, Morroco didn't lose any match in their group stage, Morroco defeat Spain in knock out stage, Morroco defeated Portugal in quarter final, don't underestimate Morroco in semi final, I know it will be a very tough match because France will put all their efforts to win Morroco, since they see the way Morroco have being playing they won't want to take any chances.

I’m cautiously optimistic about Argentina winning the game against Croatia. I do not want to have my hopes all the way up for Argentina only to have Croatia smash them. We’ll see how that goes.

Looking over each and every quarter finals match, everything looked to be a struggle and a team have won the match. It was England vs France in which France managed to win the match. In the match Brazil vs Croatia, end was unexpected, same is with the Portugal vs Morocco match. Somehow Argentina made it against Netherlands in the penalty shoot. In the upcoming semifinals we can't predict Argentina to be the winner with ease considering Croatia and Morocco the underdogs.

There is no doubt about English team's quality because they are still best in business but still they are one of the unluckiest teams in sporting history as they lost seventh quarterfinal and again fail to have any positive result which is surely one of the saddest thing for English fans which were looking for better results from this team after many years but Harry Kane's one missed penalty give them another shocking exit which is now going to take time for recovery.

That means 7 defenders, 2 wingers, 1 striker and 1 goalkeeper, sure it doesn't look like "7 defenders", it looks like 4 defenders and 3 midfield, but those 3 midfield players are usually all going back and defending all game. This allows them to counter perfectly with 3 people, and that is what Morocco did, and what Croatia did too, and all smaller clubs do everywhere.

It would be way different both for England and for Kane. Harry Kane has scored 53 goals alongside Rooney as England top goalscorer, if only he had scored the 2nd penalty than he would have been the England top goalscorer as well as being the hero that save England on that day. I don't think even they themselves could have known. It's pure luck and surprise. That's what's strange.
