Yeah in the past womens soccer was too slow but they have caught up in recent years and the games have actually been real exciting.  For awhile the US weren't really getting challenged but that's all changed there are a ton of teams that will be vying for the cup so it' should prove to be one of the better world cups.

That's why many think that this World Cup could be the turning point for women's football. With the increase in the number of fans and sponsors.

Even if in the end the USA won, there will be more competition between all the participants and that will make a cup more interesting.

I guess women's football is two to three decades behind the men's variety. Back in the 1990s, we used to have such one-sided matches in men's football as well. But now the gap between the top teams and the tier-2 teams have narrowed down. Same will happen with the women's game, but it is going to take some time and a lot of investment from the FIFA. I agree that we will not witness an equivalent of Morocco reaching the semi-finals within the next decade in women's football. Because the women's game is confined to a handful of countries as of now.

I think the gap between men team is so small, because a lot of team now have legionnaires from different countries. Players learn from them, exchange experience, they develop. Perhaps I am not that familiar with women football, but I think their team dont have players from other countries. If we take that screenshot as an example. England women football team probably have different players from other countries in their football clubs. As to Latvia - I think they play only among themselves (locals). And when they face such team as England, they dont know what to do.
Women's football for a fact is way too behind the men's football and it'll take some many football changes in the women's football before they can be measured with same yardstick with the men.
However women football isn't as boring as many people do think of it. It's very exciting to watch and I believe this year's FIFA women's world cup will be a joy to watch

this is even funny what I'm going to say, currently we have seen many women talking about that women need to support themselves, nowadays you can't even praise a woman because soon the person is accused of the crime of sexual harassment and the person is prosecuted and will end up in court, so we are in very bad shape. but what makes me laugh the most when I hear that there will be a women's soccer game and that if we ask women in the streets if they know if there will be a women's world cup, the answer will be shocking, the women will answer that they don't know anything, so we might think that they don't know because it's not something widely publicized

but when these games start the news channels will say the results of the games daily, that means that most women will already know that there is this competition, so if you ask yourself if women are watching every game, I am convinced that they will answer that they do not watch and invoke the justification is that they don't have time, but these women watch the men's world cup games, I wonder if one day women's soccer will really have the same quality that men have, it seems to me that it won't, there will come a time in the future in which they will have to put women on the same team as men, the same at work and school

nice thread joker_josue!

I like watching women's football, for me it's a slightly more relaxed and predictable version than the men's version, so I love to bet on some matches.

For this upcoming tournament, I'm bullish on France even if I wonder what their results will be against Brazil. Apart from Brazil, I think their group will be fairly straightforward for them, should be pretty easy.

I'll be placing a few bets in favour of England too, but there's still time. I'm following this from afar for the time being and I'm already starting to make some predictions to prepare myself  Cheesy

All I hope is that the USA don't crush everything, I want a bit of a change this year  Grin

I am a bit confused here. How is this even possible? FIFA laws prohibit foreign nationals being represented in a national team. There are even restrictions regarding naturalized players (if I am not wrong, a player is only allowed to change the nationality once). In that case how can teams like England include players from other countries? And why do they need the foreign players? England women's team is one of the strongest out there. There is enough player pool available within England. If you are talking about club football, then it is an entirely different topic.

I was talking about clubs. They have multinational players and learn from each other, but national team is formed from players with citizenship of those clubs.

Isnt the whole picture more nuanced? In our hyper-connected world, its only natural for mixed-gender teams to emerge. Football is not mere sport; it's a universal dialect voiced through skillful footwork! While men's football holds significant global sway, isnt it due to its early start? Yes, womens' football hasnt achieved equal international representation, but it's blooming! Ever known a "late bloomer"? Certain nations may appear talent-starved, but isnt that true for some men's teams too? The destiny of women's football rests with FIFA's resolve to invest and grow the sport.

I wont claim that mens football is better that they have early start. Both women and men have two legs and able to kick ball. Football was invented in 19 or 20 century. Indeed that time women has less right than now and spent time mostly taking care of children, on the kitchen and doing house work. But that does not mean that since that time men have started to train maniacally. I would say that women have all the chances to train football early and show same performance level as men. But football is not their sport. Like bunch of sports that are not for men, like rhythmic gymnastics or artistic swimming.

I created this topic, so that we have a place to discuss this tournament, which will most likely be the turning point in women's football worldwide.

I agree with you!

The 2023 Women's Football World Cup promises to be a great sporting event, with exciting games and very close disputes. There are 32 teams this time, so the competition should be much more balanced than in previous editions.
I also believe that the selection of Australia and New Zealand as host countries marks an important step forward in promoting gender equality in sport.

About favorites, the first thing that should come to everyone's mind is the United States, current champions, they are one of the very powerful teams. Another possible candidate to lift the cup is Germany, which already has two Women's World Cups and is considered a strong candidate for the title.
Still, I would also keep an eye on France, England, Brazil and Australia who have great possibilities to stand out in the competition.

Who do you think will win this Women's World Cup? Will it be the US again?
I am interested on the group B matches. And I am going to support Nigeria to the maximum level. And I don't think USA will take the cup this time. Since we are here predict who will the cup this time, I will will say Nigeria will take the cup. Because Nigeria women football team is better than the men counterpart. So I will not be surprised for them to win the tournament. Therefore I will be follow up the this match to the end.

I mean they are currently ranked 40th in the world.  I'm not saying that is the end all be all but they are going to have to come through a ton of upsets the entire way.  They will be the underdog in every game if they get put of the group stages.  Not that it can't be done but I wouldn't throw any money on it.

No African team has won the competition in the history of the competition.

Who do you think will win this Women's World Cup? Will it be the US again?
Being the most successful team in the history of the competition by winning the competition four times, the United States have a good chance of winning it again to make it five, although I think they will be contested this time by the three lions, the women from England who have not won this competition before, the Germans who have won it once are also another team to look at.

What the US is doing with soccer, by hiring the great soccer players that were in Europe. European women's soccer clubs are in the process of signing the big stars of US women's soccer.

The question now is whether the huge investment being made in Europe in women's football will pay off, and defeat the USA:

In 2022 we saw Men's Football World Cup again in 2023 Women's Football World Cup All in all these two years are going great for us. New Zealand Women's World Cup is going to be held this year with 32 teams. However, it is still not possible to say which team will avoid the fight for the championship in the end. Since the game will be held in New Zealand, Australia, USA, Brazil, New Zealand will be relatively ahead of other teams. Hope the 2023 Women's World Cup is going to be an enjoyable one.

I think it is aimed at countries that have money to invest.
Contrary to what happens in men's football, where good players emerge with almost no investment, in women's football a strong investment is needed to attract people to this sport. Perhaps African countries will be in the worst position in this field, both for cultural and economic reasons.
But things are looking up, and in 10-20 years, it will be an equally popular sport.

That was I think game in 2021 (already a wts) for FIFA 2023 qualification. If you scroll down to qualification (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023_FIFA_Women%27s_World_Cup_qualification_(UEFA)) you would see that there were more example of devastating scores. We dont see often such scores in mens football, but in womens, teams are on completely different levels. There are like 3-5 teams that from year to year compete in finals. There will never be such things as Morocco performance in Qatar, or Germany not even getting to play-off.

I also dont like to watch women football, not because it is boring, but because it is like watching football in slow-mo, and two completely on different level teams meat often. Sorry to say, but women football isnt developed at all. I have never seen a kid wearing t-shirt with famous women football player. I think no one could even name top players, or who won previous cup without googling. Since Brazil is most football playing country, I believe they gonna win.
Well, I think that now top players is quite well known. I think many heard about Ballon D'or winner Alexia Putellas, one of best US player Alex Morgan or Allisha Lehmann (mainly because of her Instagram.
I followed Champions league a bit and teams were playing in full huge stadiums like Camp Nou, Emirates or Stamford Bridge, not some training grounds like in past. Women football done big steps forward in recent years. Last week Champions league final was played and Barcelona won it by making comeback from 0:2 to 3:2 against Wolfsburg. But still, there was some moments and goals that you can see only in women football.

BTW, FIFA hasn't increased the number of participants for the women's world cup. Even for the 2027 event, the number of participants stand at 32 (for the men's event it has been increased to 48).
In 2019 World Cup 24 teams played, now we have 32, what is too much IMO. So far it's way too early to talk about 48 teams, there isn't so many teams in world now who can play good level football. And I also don't like decision to increase number of teams in men World Cup.

WTF is this?

Never in my life, I have seen such a one-sided match in football. And Latvia is not that bad. I have watched a few matches of their men's team (during FIFA World Cup qualifiers and Euro Cup qualifier), but their performance was quite decent. But then women's football is an entirely different domain. In the last 10-15 years, I might have watched a maximum of 2-3 women's matches. But it will be bad for the game, if this discipline is dominated by a handful of teams. BTW, for viewers in India, this tournament will be shown in Sports 18 HD. In OTT, the matches will be shown live on JioTV.
