Provisional squad from Germany:

Goalkeepers: Manuel Neuer, Roman Weidenfeller, Ron–Robert Zieler
Defenders: Jerome Boateng, Erik Durm, Kevin Grosskreutz, Benedikt Höwedes, Mats Hummels, Marcell Jansen, Philipp Lahm, Per Mertesacker, Shkodran Mustafi, Marcel Schmelzer
Midfielders: Lars Bender, Julian Draxler, Matthias Ginter, Leon Goretzka, Mario Götze, Andre Hahn, Sami Khedira, Toni Kroos, Max Meyer, Thomas Müller, Mesut Özil, Lukas Podolski, Marco Reus, Andre Schürrle, Bastian Schweinsteiger
Strikers: Miroslav Klose, Kevin Volland

nice squad, especially in midfielder
but where's the forward? klose is old, and volland is too young i think
maybe they will put Andre Schürrle or Thomas Müller as forward

FIFA has turned down the appeal for Josip Šimunić (a crucial defender in Croatian squad), his 10 match ban remains so he won't play in the world cup no matter how far Croatia goes
just to remind Mandžukić has a 1 match ban because of his red card

This will be set back for cro team.

Dunno if they gonna pass group stage now.

I can't wait for this World Cup. It's gonna be taking most of my free time during this summer. Smiley

I'm really hoping NL will do good, always liked them even though I'm from Finland, but I think Argentina, Brazil or Germany will win it this year. Only reason I didn't mention Spain is cause they won last time so statistically speaking their chances are lower to winning this year. Tongue

Ashley Cole quits England duty after World Cup omission

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27368711

Quote
Chelsea's Ashley Cole has retired from international football after being left out of England's World Cup squad. The 33-year-old left-back won 107 caps and played at three World Cups. Southampton left-back Luke Shaw, 18, was included when England manager Roy Hodgson named his 23-man squad, plus seven standby players, on Monday.

They should have taken him and give him this last world cup. I bet he must be devastated. He's not exactly too old foe England at 33.

Squad:

Quote
Goalkeepers: Fraser Forster (Celtic), Ben Foster (West Bromwich Albion), Joe Hart (Manchester City).

Defenders: Leighton Baines (Everton), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Phil Jones (Manchester United), Luke Shaw (Southampton), Chris Smalling (Manchester United).

Midfielders: Ross Barkley (Everton), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Adam Lallana (Southampton), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), James Milner (Manchester City), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal), Raheem Sterling (Liverpool), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal).

Attackers: Rickie Lambert (Southampton), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool), Danny Welbeck (Manchester United).

Standby: John Ruddy (Norwich City), Jon Flanagan (Liverpool), John Stones (Everton), Michael Carrick (Manchester United), Tom Cleverley (Manchester United), Andy Carroll (West Ham United), Jermain Defoe (Toronto FC).

Quite a lot of young players. I think they should take Andy Carroll and Jermain Defoe, but maybe they'll get a chnace being on the reserves.

ZA DOM SPREMNI salute has been used by the Croatians when they stood up to Turkish occupation in the 16th century
Nikola Šubić Zrinski was defending Siget, there was a 100 000 Turks sieging the fort with 300 cannons, Nikola Šubić Zrinski had only 2500 soldiers but he refused to surrender and marched for glory against 100 000 Turks, before the march he yelled For the homeland! And the soldiers replied Ready! (Za Dom (for the homeland) spremni (ready))
In this battle sultan Suleiman the Magnificent passed away slowing down the Turkish break into Central Europe Smiley

Later on Josip Jelačić a great Croatian man too used this salute in the 19th century so far before the WW2

This salute was used in WW2 by the Ustashe puppet nazi regime and that's why they think they should ban Shimunich but the proof and this is the important part that the salute wasn't nazi is here  Smiley

Before shouting for the homeland, Šimunić shouted In battle, In battle for your people (u boj,u boj za narod svoj) which is the salute never used by the nazi regime but used in  the 16th century by Nikola Šubić Zrinski Smiley

Šimunić was quoting a man who rebelled against oppression, his only crime is being a patriot
There is too much politics in sports..

Tough group. My take will be Argentina and Iran. Iran has a strong and experienced side. That said, Nigeria is no minnow. They have the potential to upset either Iran or Bosnia.

Brazil is the most likely win but I am cheering for Portugal though I doubt they will even reach the 1/4 finals.

It's just based on past games? What if one team has just played a load of friendlies against rubbish teams?

If these teams playing Rubbish under the rules and regulations of FIfa then I don't think there is any problem because this ranking is for the countries which are members of this Federation
