I don't know anything about any team. The only thing I know is that some poor guy who was going to walk from Washington to Brazil kicking a soccer ball, while updating everything through social media was killed a few days in after a car hit him.

Really that actually happened

Kind of a weird story

I just think they could do it, more so because many think a european team will win.

Looking back to history, European teams have never ever performed well in Latin America, be it in Argentina or be it in Brazil. The climate, supporters, psychology, everything matters.  Grin

I think Brazil will do it, home advantage and all.

The last time when Brazil hosted the FIFA World Cup, they lost the finals to Uruguay.... Oh..  I remember.... there was no final as such in 1950... it was more like a round-robin league... and Uruguay topped it.

Unfortunately I wasnt alive to witness that  Grin

Think some team from Europe, like Germany or Spain.

i'm asian too. no one here is going to get into soccer, not with so many other sports around.

Are you from China? Soccer is very much popular everywhere else in Asia. And what are these other sports? Athletics? Hockey? Cricket?

As far as I know athletics are very popular in China.

I hope a Latin country wins...but not Brazil...Chili, perhaps...or Uruguay.

Why? And why not Brazil? Chile or Uruguay have got no chance and out of those clearly Brazil is the favourite. I don't think they're the strongest team this year, but they have the advantage of playing at home and in their own climate. I know many teams are going to struggle with the heat/humidity.
Because I've got sympathy for the Latin countries (regarding football)...Brazil has won too many times already.

I am Asian. I look at your guys' sport with disgust and disdain (American football, softball, baseball, kickball). Happy now?  Grin

I wonder how many Americans would even support their national team in the FIFA World Cup 2014. The FIFA is desperate to get the Americans addicted to football, but the latter thinks otherwise.

Fifa chief's son got Qatar hospital job after country won World Cup vote

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/world-cup/10808262/Fifa-chiefs-son-got-Qatar-hospital-job-after-country-won-World-Cup-vote.html

Quote
A senior Fifa official’s son was given a job at a private Qatari hospital shortly after the decision to award the country the 2022 World Cup. Pieter D’Hooghe, who is the son of the Belgian executive committee member and medical officer Michel D’Hooghe, was approached by a surgeon at Aspetar hospital in February 2011 and asked if he would start a “visiting surgery” at the clinic. In 2012, he started working at Aspetar permanently and moved with his family to Doha.
